I had to update my review from 3 years ago when they first opened. I have returned several times now and each time I have been more than pleased. The service is excellent, never needing to ask for anything, they almost anticipate your every need and are extremely prompt and professional. The music and atmosphere are much more congenial, and gone are the days of servers with attitude staring into their phones. The food is rock solid, and the specials are amazing — Rueben French Fries — need I say more? Thanks for listening and keep up the great food and service!

This was a great lil place! Definitely a local favorite. It was busy the whole time we were there. The breakfast items looked amazing! My daughter got the honey cristo. Swiss & ham French toast topped with eggs. I got a bibb salad with blueberries, radish, goat cheese, and walnuts; brown butter vinaigrette. I also ordered the fried green tomatoes. They were not over seasoned or oily. They were good. The bummer for me was my lettuce was very sandy. I let the waiter know, he quickly brought more lettuce– it was a little less sandy but inedible. It was a good experience regardless. The staff was friendly and efficient. Try it!

Wonderful brunch venue in University City and Fishtown/Northern Liberties(I believe?). No reservations and cash only so be prepared to wait or go at a weird non-brunch time! All dishes are fresh and well prepared. Love the giant pancake. Cheap and easy way to get full

Don’t come here on the weekend unless you have an hour to an hour and a half to kill. They don’t take reservations and you can’t call ahead. Also it’s cash only. I say go somewhere else, it’s really not worth the wait. Update: They shoved our party of 3 into a two person table space. Not cool. This place should be renamed to «Honeys sit n wait»

Every time I go to Honey’s the wait is insane and I go to some other place. For once, I finally ate here, but I had to take off work and go on a Monday afternoon for easy seating. We got brunch, which they’re famous for. it was fine, but not remarkable. I understand that their pricing is higher because of local and farm to table ingredients, but when it comes down to it, I guess I don’t really care enough about this. I’ve had similar breakfasts for half the price at diners in the area. I was glad they offered vegetarian sausage on the menu(spoiler alert-its Morningstar patties) Little upcharges for things like swapping french toast for pancakes felt like I was being nickle & dimed to death. The food was all very good, but no better than many other places. Simply put, Its over-hyped. I might not have minded, but the food was just ok, and the service was terrible. There’s really no reason that on a slow Monday we could’n’t have been taken better care of, but I found myself hunting down our hipster waiter for coffee refills and the check while he talked to the barista. He seemed irritated that we needed anything at all. Not everyone was this bad and I saw some people hustling, but our guy just plain sucked. I would say that if you don’t mind waiting a long time to eat, and local farm food is important to you, by all means, go to Honey’s. Just be prepared for a side of cool guy snobbery while you stare at your empty coffee cup and listen to Neutral Milk Hotel.

Came here with a friend for breakfast on Friday morning — I was a little skeptical because I’d heard the south street location didn’t live up to the honeys in northern liberties, but I’d never been to either so I thought it was worth trying! I found the interior spacious and homey, and the service fast and attentive. We were seated right away without a reservation. I ordered the 3 egg omelette with cornbread and potatoes, and my friend ordered the honey cristo french toast. I found my omelette to be just average, at least in comparison to some of my favorite brunch places in the city. Glad I finally tried it but would probably opt to go elsewhere in the future!

BYO that serves breakfast and brunch all day, sources locally, and has 3 kinds of hot sauce on every table! CASHONLY. Came here on a Saturday night with a friend and have absolutely nothing to complain about– for the price point, the food and service were fantastic. Bonus points for plenty of vegetarian options! Atmosphere: apparently this is most popular for brunch, so it wasn’t crowded in the evening. Casual neighborhood eatery with wooden everything and a country barnyard feel. Food: I got an omelette with tofu and veggies, and quinoa bread they get fresh daily from the Italian market. I know this place is known for southern food and brunch excessive-ness, but whatever, I like omelettes, and this one was great(like most omelettes, minimal seasoning so you can control that). My friend got chicken fried steak with a biscuit and mac ‘n cheese(he was compensating). I used every hot sauce on the table and we got a big jar of fresh berry preserves for the bread/biscuit that was amazing. Service: Our waiter was the sweetest guy. Soft spoken and attentive; my water glass was never empty and he even showed up with a bottle opener right when a beer bottle hit empty. Explained every special and happily gave recommendations. For $ 15 each, we got a ton of food. This is a chill place with solid breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, and you can get breakfast for lunch and dinner ;)

I stopped in on a whim one day and ordered a special from the dinner menu, the hot fried chicken sandwich. A bit pricey at $ 12.50, it’s one of those things that just has to be tried to be understood. This is, without a doubt, one of the best fried chicken sandwiches I’ve ever eaten. The crunchy coating on the outside somehow melts in your mouth as you chew it. The biscuit is great, not the greasy affair you get at other places. The fresh pickles are nice. The sauces, a garlic sauce and a sweet, tangy BBQ sauce, were great. The fries, thin and almost shoestring-style, were the biggest disappointment. They were soggy after my half-mile walk. I’m sure they taste a lot better if I ate them right away. I am anxiously awaiting the opportunity to try the fried chicken with pancakes and eggs for brunch.

I came in a group of 3 on a recent Saturday at 2PM, and we had a 20-minute wait. The restaurant was packed. The food at Honey’s comes in large portions, and the coffee and orange juice are freshly made. Waiters constantly come around with steaming pots to refill your mug. I ordered Jeb’s Open Faced Sandwich, and my friends ordered Honey’s Platter and the Honey’s Chicken Finger Platter. The open faced sandwich was delicious. The biscuit is fluffy, topped with a sausage patty on either half, topped again with sunny-side up eggs. The gravy is thick and heavy, but can definitely be overwhelming — I’d recommend getting the gravy on the side. As for the potato side, I ordered the latke, which was good but more like a large triangular hashbrown made of sliced potato rather than a latke.(You can also get sour cream and apple sauce at an additional $ 1.50!) The Platter had a substantial amount of food, and my friend was satisfied. The chicken finger platter was definitely the highlight of our brunch. They were large, breaded perfectly, and the chicken was juicy. When dipped in Honey’s house ranch, the chicken fingers were absolutely divine. There was also just a lot of food on the chicken finger platter(cole slaw + many, many fries). Tl;dr — this is a popular brunch place, so get here early to put down your name! Highly recommend the chicken fingers and other Honey’s specials.

First time I’ve been to this location. The location is great, more spacious with some outdoor tables. The service is great, very friendly staff. Great prices! The food: hmm good but it seems average. I ordered an omelette with a side of the potato latke. The outside of the latke was cripsy but for some reason the inside was gooey. I’m not sure if it is supposed to be like that or if it was undercooked… Regardless the gooey inside was unenjoyable. They will give you a side of apple sauce for 75 cents. I think it’s homemade, it’s sweet and very delicious. My friend ordered the challah French toast– looked average, nothing special but she said it was good. Someone else with us ordered the chorizo omelette but at 11am they were out of chorizo so she replaced it with sausage. It seemed good. No one raved over their food. It’s good, don’t get me wrong but nothing stands out. I guess I will have to come back and try some other options to see if I can be wowed! I want to give the latke one more try because I love them so much. Overall 3.5 stars

Had a great experience for breakfast with a group of friends here. The place was fairly crowded but we were accommodated with no problem. The service was fantastic and the server offered us his suggestions and advice on dishes which were really good. We took advantage of the BYOB and brought champagne and orders a pitcher of orange juice which was fresh squeezed and delicious. The prices were affordable and the portions were large. I had the Honey’s Platter which had 3 pancakes, choice of meat and potato. Very big portions and great food! We all split the special of the day which was a Mac and cheese stuffed pancake. It sounds weird, but it was amazing and I highly recommend it! We all wish we had ordered more of them. Several people ordered the huevos rancheros and said it was good. We will definitely be coming back here in the future!

This place is AMAZING. I went here with a large group of friends on a weekday and we were quickly shown to a table. This restaurant is BYOB so we brought some champagne and split a pitcher of fresh squeezed orange juice to make mimosas. They have a machine that makes the juice right in the restaurant. Our waiter was friendly and very helpful. He made sure we all had coffee and water as soon as we sat down and helped open all of our champagne bottles. He suggested one of the specials which was a mac and cheese pancake with a gold fish cracker crumble on top. Being curious and also a little taken back by the combination we decided to order one and split it. It was the size of a large plate so we all got a good size sample. This is one of the greatest things I’ve ever had and I’m not sure I will ever eat a normal pancake the same again! The Mac and cheese was mixed into the pancake batter and was such an interesting and delicious combination. It was served with a side of syrup but I liked it better without. For my main meal, I had the honey’s platter which was 3 pancakes, 2 eggs and your choice of meat and potato. I had the bacon which was really crispy and the breakfast potatoes. This entire meal was a huge portion and every aspect of it was super tasty! This place has delicious food and friendly, attentive service. The atmosphere is lively and the prices are great for the portion sizes. Just remember that it’s cash only!

Great brunch spot! Decided to come here for brunch on a Thursday to avoid the weekend brunch crowd and everything was good! We came with a big group and were seated immediately at the large community table. The restaurant has this one large community table that can seat about 15 – 20 people(not sure the exact number) and then many smaller private tables. We brought a couple bottles of champagne and these were quickly open for us. For food, our waiter suggested we try the daily special, a Mac and cheese pancake. To say we were skeptical would be an understatement, but we decided to order one and split it between the 8 of us. I’m so glad we did! It was phenomenal, I’m not sure I ever want to/can go back to eating regular pancakes again. The Mac and cheese is actually added to the pancake batter and baked in there and then goldfish crumbs were sprinkled on top. It came with syrup, but I think I preferred it without. To whoever came up with this brilliant combo, I salute you. For my meal I tried the huevos rancheros with chorizo and it was a delicious blend of Mexican goodness. The other pro about Honey’s is that the food is pretty cheap! For our meal we all ended up paying about $ 20 each. Just make sure to bring cash as its a cash only restaurant!

It was actually my first time at this location and I hadn’t been to the No Libs location since I lived over that way about 8 years ago! Sad, I know, but I just can’t do the 30 min wait for brunch thing anymore(especially with kids in tow.) Plus, there’s so many great options to try out nowadays besides the Philly fan favorites and staples, Honey’s, Sabrina’s and Green Eggs. Honey’s will however always remain a top favorite among those in the city and I feel it is a must try. The unique Southern/Jewish menu(with options ranging from challah French toast specials to grits) is certainly a treat! And really to be honest, after you’ve eaten your incredibly delicious, comfort food meal which was sprinkled with a dash of creativity, you really won’t regret waiting. We just can’t on the weekends anymore. My brother insisted on heading here for his birthday brunch. He planned a Friday at 11:30am to avoid the weekend rush. There was still a line out the door, but it went fairly quick. It was Good Friday and many kiddos had off from school for Spring Break. Not sure if that had anything to do with it the crowd or not. Noting all of this because the wait will most likely be your only issue at Honey’s and it’s a fair warning if you are new to the Philly brunch scene. This location is drastically bigger than the original, but is still able to maintain that mom and pop shop, cozy feel. It boasts the same rustic, down home décor… Exposed industrial chic beams, fun, vintage inspired signs, funky wooden barstools, knick knacks and reclaimed wood farmhouse tables etc. The ‘hipster’ servers were fast and to the point. Not overly sweet or welcoming, but knew their stuff and how to get their job done with a packed house. We brought a few bottles of champs for mimosas. It’s BYOB so do it up! Ice buckets were brought to the table immediately as was coffee($ 2.75 a cup) and filled water glasses. They also brought a pitcher of fresh squeezed OJ which will run you $ 16! We had a really fun time. Here’s what our table ordered and what they had to say(yes, I ask now): 5 Unilocal –Eggs Benedict over challah $ 12. Delicious Hollandaise and great, thick ham. 3 Unilocal– Omelette with choose your own add ins. $ 11 Made with chorizo, sausage and pepper jack. Over-cooked eggs. Flavorless grits which were too creamy. Dry cornbread(mind you, he had just come from the south and I think he may have been a tad spoiled. But still). 4.5 Unilocal lox and bagel $ 11 4.5 Unilocal grilled chicken Sammy $ 10 4 Unilocal corned beef and scrambled eggs with potato latke and cornbread. $ 11 Best potato latke! 5 Unilocal-Tofu Scramble with choose 3 options $ 11 Made with veg sausage which was perfectly spicy, spinach and mushrooms served with potatoes that came with grilled peppers and onions on top and the biggest, buttery biscuit I needed them to take off my plate because it looked incredible and they said it certainly was. Best biscuits they have ever had! Get it! I consider myself somewhat of a tofu scramble connoisseur and this one was definitely great! It gave my favorite one in the city a run for its money! Yum! It was perfect and I love that you can choose what goes into it! Unique to the tofu scrambles I usually order. Forgot my $ 2 avocado, but it didn’t need it. Had to ask for it to be taken off of the bill though. Standard, reasonable city prices. Cash only. Coffee and fresh squeezed juices were a tad high however. Great vegan and vegetarian options. Kiosk street parking was easy. Bike parking. No reservations. BYOB.

Cheap and delicious breakfast food. I would highly recommend trying any of their breakfast meals and especially their specials! There can be an extensive wait if you go on the weekend, but during the weekdays, there usually isn’t a long wait or any wait at all! Tip: cash only, but they do have an ATM inside!

Really more like Honey’s Wait, wait, wait, then Sit ‘n Eat. The food here was INCREDIBLE. Truly one of the best brunch meals I have ever had. But my patience was dwindling by the time I finally ate. Come here early, or later, to beat the rush. It’s small inside, and there isn’t all that much seating. But I do think after my aggravation had subsided, it was a great place to eat. I got the vegetarian open faced breakfast sandwich and it was to die for. I was thrilled at their vegetarian selection! Prices were certainly reasonable, and it is BYO! **Cash only!

Good home cooked breakfast food, with reasonable portions. Latkes are solid and biscuits are soft and crumble as you pick them up. They charge $ 1.50 for applesauce and sour cream and $ 2.75 for coffee. I wish the server let us know before hand. Otherwise, service and food is spot on. Cash only. There’s an ATM with a $ 1.50 surcharge next to the entrance.

If you want to wait for less than 20 minutes for a seat, I’d suggest going at 7AM — 9AM or after 3PM. The staff is friendly; don’t be afraid to tell them what you want(ie. want to sit at a table or a counter, no sugar in coffee, challah bread substitute, and etc.), because again, almost everyone is friendly or do not care to judge as long as you ask nicely. This location is bigger than the northern liberties location and has longer hours. The brunch food is amazing. The challah bread is something else. Anything with challah bread is a good choice, if you’re struggling on what to eat. I also recommend getting the potato latke if you don’t want any strong flavorings for your brunch meal, or else get the home fries because they are flavored with a hint of cajun seasoning. You really can’t go wrong with any dishes here. Please note, this is a CASHONLY restaurant. Bank of America and TD Bank aren’t within a five minute walk. BUT there is a ATM in the restaurant; the fee is only a measly $ 1.50.

Do you want to hear a secret? Maybe I shouldn’t even put this in writing? Maybe you already know this one and are about to laugh at me, but… Go to a brunch place during non-brunch hours! Ingenious, right? So I ended up at Honey’s Sit ‘n Eat last week with my husband and a friend. We had been across the street at Ten Stone with Honey’s just staring us in the face and calling our names. So we wandered across the street sometime in the 4 o’clock hour. We were greeted and seated right away. Now I was a newbie to Honey’s, but this wasn’t my first brunch rodeo. I’ve heard the hype about this place and couldn’t image that ever happening in the prime of brunch time on a Sunday morning. The solid service continued. Although they were closing around 5, but never felt rushed or unwanted. I went with the breakfast quesadilla which consisted of scrambled eggs, cheddar and pepper jack cheeses served with refried beans, pico de gallo and avocado sour cream sauce. I opted for an additional avocado and it was like half an avocado. You could tell the quesadilla was freshly made with a nice tortilla and the eggs were recently scrambled. My only grip was that there really wasn’t much of the beans, pico or avocado sour cream. They were almost hidden under one piece of quesadilla. The extra avocado was a clutch addition. They don’t take credit card but they have an ATM on premise. I had a quick and tasty experience, and would definitely return at a similar odd hour. Sunday morning brunch is so last year. Sunday late afternoon brunch is where it’s at.

Was looking for a new place to try and bring out of town friends. I remembered Honey’s that I pass driving to work every day, but had not tried since moving here. I was amazed at the spacious, sunny interior and country store style décor. The bar style seating was so fun and unique. The waitress was very friendly and immediately offered to start us off with some water and coffee. Recommendations were given for the food since there were so many options to choose from on the menu and specials. Ultimately, we all went with options off of the specials list and were not left disappointed! The presentation was beautiful and the meal combinations were well thought out and carefully crafted. The portions were perfect sizes-not the ‘stuff your face’ size of some diners, but left you full and satisfied. I always comment on the coffee at a breakfast place because that is so important. The coffee here fit the bill with everything else and was quite good and hot! We were too late for the breakfast bargains(7−9am), but there are two options with coffee for only $ 4.95…how awesome is that!!! We were told that they are now servicing dinner and for BYOB– I will definitely be back with other guests or Philadelphian friends.
