This place is legit. I am continually impressed with Joey and his place. They really understand how to listen to his customers, but also give suggestions on potential hairstyles and cuts. As an example, at my last visit, he did an excellent fade, but it wasn’t as short as I would have liked. When I pointed this out to him, he verified that I would be comfortable taking it to a tighter fade and then proceeded to do it carefully, even though it was at the end of the haircut. Not many barbers would do this in the city, as they are often rushing to their next client. I am really impressed with the care that they take with their haircuts, and I know that this will continue into the future.
Seriously, my experience here has been excellent – classy, but also fun. I am always excited to come here for my haircuts now.

I received an undercut from both the owner Joe and another barber named Tyler. Both times they came out amazing. The second time I even got a little spontaneous and got a design which turned out great. I finally wasn’t embarrassed to put my hair in a ponytail. They also helped thinned out my thick curly Italian hair. Even though it is a «barber lounge» they knew how to handle my thick hair. I would recommend this place for men and women because every worker in there is extremely skilled.

This is hands down the best barber shop experience I’ve ever had.
Very different than your typical philly barbershop, Gents has a more upscale and classy vibe to it. High ceilings, huge windows, comfortable chairs and large flat screens when you walk in.
But don’t get it twisted, these guys can still hit you with a perfect fade.
The owner, Joey Mezzico, has been cutting hair for a long time and is impressive with the clippers. He’s very easy to talk to and cares a lot about his customers. Extremely dynamic too and able to really work with you to give you the hairstyle you want.
Cuts start at $ 25. That’s not the cheapest you will find in center city but it’s certainly worth every penny.
Located just off Market Street in Old City and situated just above a crunch fitness. Parking can be tough if you come during high traffic times but I’ve had no issues finding street parking.

I’ve had my hair cut by both the owner Joey and Fareed over the years and I have NEVER been disappointed. I will follow these two all over the place. They have a customer for life.

I decided to give this barber shop a try since it just opened this past weekend. It’s tough leaving a barber you trust, but this location was a lot easier for me. I was thoroughly impressed to say the least. Everyone was extremely professional and made me feel very comfortable. Everything was state of the art, and to top it off, I got a great hair cut. I would highly suggest giving this shop a try!

Yes, it’s a barber shop but Tyler is amazing at women’s cuts too and tweaked my pixie cut to perfection. Brand new shop in Olde City above Sweat Fitness. Great vibe, nice owners and very reasonable — I have paid $ 50-​$ 100 for haircuts and have not always been happy… here — $ 25 — and best pixie cut ever… and I’m quite picky. Highly recommend !

Best haircut you’ll get – hands down! Joey has been cutting my hair for 3 years now and he always gives a great cut and shave. His new shop has an upscale feel and a down-​to-​earth attitude. Check him out; you won’t be disappointed.

I am so glad we have a barbershop in Old City that isn’t overpriced silliness for rich chicks, or some hipster nonsense where I’m paying $ 65 for a shape up and organic beard oil. Gents Barber Lounge is no fuss, classy, and the price is better than anything available in Old City.
Gents is both simple in its approach, yet elegant. As you wait you can enjoy several televisions showing either a game or a movie. You wait in comfortable seating and the conversation is always professional, never anything ghetto, loud, rude or vulgar. The shop is on the second floor of the Old City Sweat Gym, and boasts a classic black and white color scheme.
As for barbering talent, Joey, the proprietor, is amazing. I have been his customer for years now and I’ve always been more than satisfied. This is important for several reasons: 1. I am always worried a barber will take my hairline way too far or screw up my beard 2. I’m gay and have encountered homophobic conversation in previous barbershops that made me very uncomfortable 3. I’m broke and have no money to waste on bad haircuts. Joey is a professional who knows how to can cut hair impeccably, he is a consummate professional whose conversation is both appropriate and enjoyable, and his his cuts are amazing, worth every dollar I spend.
I think for young professionals who live or work in Old City, Washington Square West or No. Liberties, this place is the most convenient and sensible place to go for a haircut.

Truly a five star experience ! I drive an hour just to get my haircut by Joey — yes he is that good ! His new shop is beautiful and in a great location. One of the nicest barbershops that I’ve been too — he definitely has achieved his goal of a elegant place where true «gentlemen» will feel at home. Love the fact that you can book an appointment online. You won’t be disappointed !

Finally a barber shop in Old City that is not overpriced and with great barbers! They do a great job with fades, beard shaping/​trims, etc. The shop itself is a very cool space on the 2^nd floor of Sweat gym. Easy to book appointments online. Highly recommend!

Hands down one of the best barber shops in Philly. Walked by this place so I checked out their site and it was real easy to schedule an appointment.
The staff is very professional but still makes you feel right at home. They listened to what I wanted and went with it. They really know what will work and look good on you so they’ll make some great suggestions along the way so you leave looking as fresh as possible. Easily the best haircut I’ve ever had so this will be where I go to get cut from now on. Definitely recommend!

Professional new shop in a great location. It’s on the second floor right above sweat fitness. You can tell the owner pays attention to detail as soon as you walk in. I get my cuts from Joe but all the barbers here are pretty skilled and able to cut all types of hair no matter the style. It’s a top of the line shop with great prices and I highly recommend giving it a try.

Brand new upscale, competitively priced barber shop in old city. I went there today and got a great cut and wash from Joey. The shop itself is located above Sweat Fitness and is outfitted with brand new top of the line equipment as well as several TVs so you can watch the game while getting shaped up. Would definitely recommend to men of all races and hair types.

Been going to Joey for years. He’s the only barber I trust. Highly recommend heading over to his new shop Gents for any cut or shave. Nice clean shop that won’t disappoint and will be worth the trip.

Been getting cut by Joey for a while now. In the past I’ve been cut by barbers who cut celebrities, but now only Joey can touch my hair. Great value, always leaving looking great and he is a great guy. Check him out, you will be very happy.
