My BF and I(hes now my spouse) were looking for a place to throw a joint birthday party for our 27th Birthday. After scoping out some of the other places in Center City, I stumbled upon Fiso Lounge. I gave them a call and found out that for $ 500 i could rent their so called«champagne room». They also offered the option of their sunroof deck for $ 300. Me being me(a sort of snob, sort of anti social personality went with the champagne room). The champagne room is a private room, with its own bathroom, bar and flat screen TV’s. You can bring your own food, and all the standards of the club apply(still free before 11, open bar from 10 – 11 etc.). We had a blast because all our friends got to party and dance in a private setting without fighting with other patrons over girls, or guys or even a long line for the rest room. We even forgot a few pans for our food, and the manager gave us some. We also had over 50 people come to the party and they gave us a complimentary bottle of Moet. The drinks were strong, the music was nice and everyone had a good time. No complaints here!

I just don’t like this place. maybe it’s the nights I’ve gone. where I have been surrounded by groping stalkerish guys who don’t dance but want you to rub your ass on them. no! it’s hot. and people are annoying. and the staff is very rude. I mean when someone is having an asthma attack and you refuse to give them ice water without charging them I think you need to get over yourself… REALLY. but the top level is pretty sweet. even though I have only ever made it up there once. however at this point I’m shocked I’ve been there more than once. luckily govindas is right up the block to keep my mind on tasty vegan food :)

Fisos. My friends are divided on this place. On one side, you have the few who think Palmers is the greatest nightclub in the city. They treat Palmers like it’s chock full of children-free, highly attractive, easy going women with masters degrees and impeccable comedic timing. These few merely like Fisos. They consider it a «Palmers Lite.» Same quality of women, but with a tiny bit more class and closer to home. On the other side, you have my friends who wouldnt be caught dead in Palmers or Fisos. They consider these places the dingleberrys on the anus of Philly’s nightlife. Places where one goes with high threshold for pain. A place where the selection of women and music are limited. I used to fall into the latter type of group. I mean, I was used to(and still prefer) the places in Rittenhouse, Old City — you know, the places with beer other than Miller Lite, no covers(or 7 at the most) and women other than«Laquantay.» About two months ago, I was hanging out with friends from the former group, and decided to tag along for shits and giggles. And I was pleasantly surprised. Let’s get the MOST annoying things out of the way. The Saturday night I went, you could get in free before eleven. I was in line at 10:20. And it was short. Considering the size of this place, they could let us all in in about 10 minutes at the MOST. Nah bruh, they have you wait outside until 11 so you can pay that 20 dollar cover. That’s messed up – the type of games I feel I’m above at this age. Granted, I understand the reasoning behind it, but damn, they know how to kill the night before it begins. Secondly, the music is highly predictable. Any rap song that’s currently popular on the radio,(drake, weezy, ross, that dude who«keeps a dime chick like five times two» etc) you will hear here. There’s no Rakim, Reasonable Doubt era Jay, Illmatic Nas. Or even newcomers who deserves a quick spin like J. Cole. Inside though, it’s not a bad place to look at. A bit dark, a bit shady, but it’s bearable. Large tables, multiple bars, two dance floors. ATM inside. Coat check, check. I heard the food is aight, but overall It’s cool. Bartenders are quick and friendly but stick with beer. At least you know the ABV you’re getting. The cocktails are off balance and expensive. Pushing 10 bucks for shabby cocktail in a small dixie cup? Not the bizness. And the kool-aid tubes? Nah. But most importantly, I will say that I had fun. That’s all that matters, right? The women who work there are a pleasure to spit hot brain-pickin fire at and the women on the floor cooperate if you’re posin to be chosen, ya dig. The people there are good-hearted people. Dont get me wrong. You wont get strangled in the corner with your karl kani tie. It’s chill. It’s just that I would rather kick it wit em in an environment that’s more inspired, diverse a little less rape on the pockets. But still, check it out.

Loooove Fiso. We used to come here years ago but haven’t been back so we decided to hit it up for old times sake and we were not disappointed! The middle floor was playing amaaazing music but it got really packed so we migrated upstairs. Upstairs was also playing great music and we had more room to dance around. It was a little chilly on Saturday night so we didn’t hang out on the deck much — but I can’t wait for warmer weather to go again. Great crowd and really friendly bartenders.

Fiso Lounge has three levels with beaucoup seating, including a champagne room and a chic downstairs lounge. It’s easy to get to, right on South Street off of Broad. Security was friendly and kept the peace. The topmost floor was heated and gave folks a place to talk before venturing to the middle floor to dance. I was here awhile ago for a few birthday parties. The DJ on the middle floor was decent. It was a full house and got HOT in there, even considering it was during December. Good bartender on the third floor, wish I remembered who served us, though. She made us multiple tasty shots(average city prices), including an alien secretion, and even gave us a discount on drinks since we bought so much from her. I’d return for another party, or to set up a party of my own there.
