Honestly, it’s not the worst take-out Chinese restaurant I’ve ever had. Now, I realize that’s not exactly a compliment, but I felt compelled to write this review after all the terribly negative, 1-star reviews for this place. I recently moved to Northern Liberties and was desperately searching for a quick, easy and cheap take-out Chinese place. Based on all the negative reviews for this place, I never gave this place a shot. So, I ended up paying more at places further away. Until one day, out of desperation, I caved in and gave this place a try. Low and behold, it wasn’t that bad — not nearly as bad as the reviews make it seem! I tried the wonton soup, which was actually very good. I also enjoyed the«3 in 1 Combo.» You get an appetizer, a main dish entrée, and a starch(fried rice, lo mein, etc.). While this type of combo may be common at most standard Chinese take out joints. I really enjoyed that I had 5 – 8 customizable choices for appetizers(ranging from different kinds of egg rolls to wings to chicken teriyaki skewers) and starches(multiple choices of rice and lo meins). I opted for General Tso Chicken, with a cheese steak roll, and plain lo mein. While relatively bland for my taste(I added some sriracha and chili oil that I had on hand), it was serviceable. I’d say it’s even better than the places I was paying more to have delivered(cough, China King, cough). So, in conclusion, when you’re craving some really good Chinese, you’re still going to have to venture to multitude of really great places in Chinatown or, of course, Han Dynasty, but when you want quick, easy, cheap standard Chinese fare, don’t be put off by the bad reviews and give this place a try.

0 stars for this if I could! Rude service. Had to say hello 4 times and respond just to show my friend that she heard me and she’s just being rude! Disgusting shrimps and top of all that… I saw a mouse under the ATM machine and the girl who works there saw it. She looked at me like«yes I saw that too!» I just got up and left. Never again. Should’ve read the reviews on Unilocal first!

China house, this was an experience that my worst enemy should never have to endure!!! The lady at the register despite her mustache and no teeth did not greet me. She asked me how im paying, haven’t even ordered yet? The cook looked like it was Halloween everyday, flip flops! Who the flip wears flip flops too cook in a so called restaurant. I asked if we can eat in here, even though the dining area looked like a scene from Zombies at my neighbors„ we sat down and dust fluttered from the chair, how convenient. then she yelled right here come get!!! Are u serious!!! Mice running out from the freezer which was located in the dining area, these people have a food freezer not in the kitchen out by the ATM wow!!!

0 stars! I ordered food on grub hub and it’s been 1.5 hrs and they still aren’t here! I’ve tried calling their location multiple times and no one will pick up. I would like a refund of the delivery fee at this point, or at least the option to cancel as this is way past the reasonable expectation for delivery. I am not happy customer– would never order from them again!

Cheap and open late but still not worth it. Chicken is chewy and rubbery, soups and dumplings were mediocre at best.

Consistently good fast-food Chinese. Not the best out there, but good enough for a lazy weeknight where I don’t feel like cooking. My only complaint would be the corn kernels in egg drop soup; who does that? It’s an obvious filler. Otherwise, I’ve never had a bad entrée and the food is always hot when delivered.

Long wait for simple items(rols) and when you inquire about the status, the young lady in the front very rudely pushes the food at you without a word. Horrible customer service. Will never return. I’d give no stars but that didn’t seem to be an option,

I can only speak for the wonton soup because ever since I got it I haven’t wanted to try anything else because it’s so good! Get it spicy! So delicious!

1 Bottle Soda $ 1.50 1 General Tso’s Chicken Combination Platter $ 7.35 1 Pizza Roll $ 1.25 Subtotal $ 10.10 Tax $ 0.97 Delivery Fee $ 2.00 Tip $ 1.23 TOTAL $ 14.30 Ordered this late at night because I was craving Chinese. It was a pretty standard order. The pizza roll was hot and crispy. I thoroughly enjoyed that. The general Tso’s chicken was soggy and the sauce was pretty flavorless. This is not the worst thing in the world, because it’s General Tso’s and it’s late at night. But I really don’t like when the chicken isn’t crispy. The reason could be because it was delivered, and got soggy on the way, but there’s no way to know for sure. I’ll probably try them again, but instead of getting take out. I’d like to go into the restaurant and sit down.

Exactly what you’d expect from a Chinese place at a strip mall on Spring Garden: greasy, oily, bad-for-the-body-but-good-for-the-soul Americanized Chinese food. Quick, cheap food and friendly people. There are times when you want delicious, high-quality, legit Chinese food, and then there are times when you want this. And when you want this, China House is there for you.

They were friendly and cheap. That’s about it… Flavorless everything, and the«chicken» in the general tso’s was too disgusting to eat. My dog liked it, but I even felt a little bad giving it to him.

What is it about joints named China House and mediocrity? I guess you know what to expect at least. The good: nice counter service; super cheap lunch specials; decent wonton soup; convenient location The not-so-good: overly-dumbed down Chinese food(think icky sweet sauces); beyond gritty atmosphere; reliance on cheap filler veggies… You get the point. So if you’re on a tight lunch budget or have low standards, this is the place for you! But did I mention they are really nice…

I started this review out with 5 stars. The delivery took took 50minutes, for a location that is a 5minute car ride away! Minus 2 stars China House! I ordered 2 platters, They were very heavy on the rice, VERYLIGHT on the meat. Minus another Star China House. And to end it all, I take away 1 more star because they failed to give us any fortune cookies! That might deserve to have 2 stars taken away, however the food was very tasty, so they can keep the 1star rating!

Typical Americanized Chinese Food. Everything you’d expect to find at a take-out Chinese hole in the wall except for the bullet-proof plexi glass. Do yourself a favor and take the trip down to Sang Kee or Charles Plaza in Chinatown, it’ll be worth the extra 3 minute drive.

Cheap Chinese food that is hit-or-miss. Broccoli and Chicken is good, Cashew Chicken is not. Veggie fried rice is so-so. But it’s close and it’s quick so I go. The fortune cookies, however, are SPOTON. Seriously. Like the most perfect fortunes ever. Be prepared to be amazed.
