I wish I could give this place a better review for its coffee & espresso since its so quaint and has a cute street window. I ordered a latte. The wait was long. I ultimately dumped it out without drinking it(very bad taste). The coffee girl was so sweet, but it just wasn’t up to par with even a mediocre latte(and I’m not too snobby with food). My boyfriend did not drink his iced americano either. While waiting, I was able to go into the candy shoppe(attached but next door) and this place is redeemed in my heart. I found the moo bar and chocolate-covered oreos worth the visit! Definitely buy their candy; find coffee/espresso elsewhere though.

I have a little addiction to moo bars. What can I say? The creamy marshmallow, tempting chocolate, and handful of almonds? They remind me of home: D Nowadays however I rarely if ever make it back up to Ferndale. But that’s okay, because Sweetness and Light delivers, and my Moo Bars can make it down to me. So all right right in the world: D

Incredible mint coffee mochas. Cute little place in the middle of beautiful old town Victorian female Ferndale

I try to shy away from writing bad reviews but I just can’t help myself in this circumstance. I walked into the store and there was no one behind the counter. I looked around and was appalled by their inventory. They literally didn’t have any candy! They did however have some overly priced hand made signs that a 5 year old could make. I got fed up with standing around and waiting to be waited on. I even yelled hello 3 times! I ended up leaving empty handed. It really seems like they don’t want the business? But by the looks of it they need it!

Pretty good chocolates. Not the best I’ve had but pretty good and very affordable. Sweet service.

Best thing I ever learned about at HSU — Moo Bars. We still mail order them for gifts on occasion.

Why didn’t I read the reviews first? I would have gotten a Moobar. Well, there is always another time. Dragged my sweetie into the chocolate smelling shop, but he was anxious to go spread anarchy to the good folks of Ferndale. So I stood and contemplated flavors while the nice person in front of me loaded up on nougats of all sorts. «Nougat fancier» I observed. She did not say, as my daughter would have«thank you Captain Obvious» for which I was grateful. Settled on some creams, three each of Buttermilk, Apricot Brandy, and. one other, oh, what was it? Something enticing. Raspberry, perhaps. I figured my partner and my kid and I would try one of each and enjoy the delicious flavors. Passed up the Victorian creams because walnuts didn’t seem to be what was needed at that moment. Stupidly passed up the honeycomb. What was I thinking? My nice delicious chocolates came to around 9 dollars.(they are sold by the pound, and a pound is a bit over 21 dollars) A worthy luxury. We are very carefully savouring them(I hid the bag! Yes I did). Thus far I can assure you the buttermilk ones are truly wonderful.

Love this place! The chocolate wafting through the air lifts me off my feet(and that’s a chore, lemmetellya) and into the store with barely a notice on my part. And the chocolate, lawd, the chocolate. Well, I couldn’t help myself and bought a few of the truffles — Grand Marnier, Kahlua, Irish Cream and Amaretto. Three out of four were in the dark chocolate variety. Plus two wee candies for my wee girl. Sigh. Melt-in-your-mouth yummy goodness that cannot be found anywhere else. The hubster refuses to share a truffle, so we each had one. Ok, whatever, I had two. He had one. The kid snuffled up one before we knew what was happening and fell in love. This is one of our go-to spots when we are in town. Between the chocolate and the coffee window, it’s a match made in heaven.

We tried a dark chocolate truffle & a moo bar. Good flavor & texture. Better than most candy factories.

Wouldn’t know much, but apparently they don’t return phone calls and refuse to answer the phone during business hours. Guess, they don’t want to make money.

Before we moved to Ferndale one of our stops every time we visited was Sweetness and Light for a couple of Moo Bars. Now that we live in Ferndale, we still love stopping in for the occasional purchase. Our friends and family have come to expect a new batch of Moo Bars whenever we come to visit.

I forgot that I haven’t done any reviews from my recent trip to Humboldt County! This one had to wait until right now. Why? Because I bought a bag of goodies here that I haven’t touched since the cashier handed them to me! Hehe, until tonight! These chocolates are delicious. They put See’s to shame! My dear MIL took me to Ferndale to check out the shopping and other interesting stuff on Main Street. The smell coming out of this place beckoned me, and MIL assured me, there’s some good stuff inside. After exchanging uneasy looks, we walked in. Let’s just say this was the busiest place in slow-moving Ferndale. I had to wait for a couple of ladies ahead of me, trying not to buy too much. I could tell they were from out of town and were loading up for as long as it would take for them to come back. I thought that was a pretty good sign. They definitely bought too much, luckily, so I had time to calm down and tell myself: «No Johnna. You will NOT buy more than 5 items here. They’re putting pheromones into the air and tricking you. Just say no.» I bought 6. The husband and I are on a diet, and it’s working. This store was the first time I broke. They were all out of their sugar free confections, so I had to opt for dark chocolate. I had to get a Moo bar, made with butter, cream, almonds, dark chocolate and vanilla. I just had to. These bars even FELT good. I bought maybe 3 – 4 truffles and a dark chocolate covered honeycomb. The truffles are luscious and amazing. I forgot which kinds I bought, but there are only a few dark chocolate varieties. They’re big enough to split. I got serious pleasure out of that first bite, and so did my guy! His eyes almost came out of his head! The Moo bar I froze, as I am not ready, physically, to do that to my diet. I will not be able to just have a little and throw it away. Maybe when I lose the last of this pregnancy weight, this will be my treat. The dark chocolate covered honeycomb wasn’t good to me. I didn’t even take another bite. Husband agreed with a wrinkled nose. The service was super friendly and patient and I don’t remember the bill being high, and you know I would! Because I like calling people out when they’re robbing me! MIL got the Rocky Road for FIL, and his eyes got happy when she gave it to him, just like my husband’s did! Their principle is «if it tastes terrific, it is terrific.» Their chocolates were, without a doubt, terrific. In closing, this place is a little Humboldt County gem. Buy some treats for yourself or someone you think needs some excitement. The eyes they’ll make are totally worth it! S.W.A.K.

I am happy that Sweetness and Light is in our town. I am grateful for the coffee window that opens early and the service that is always chipper there. The candy is as a famous chocolatier friend of mine would say — good small town candy. All the standards done well and a few of their own invention. I am always happier after a visit to Sweetness and Light. Thanks guys.

I know that their candy used to be MUCH better. Their store used to be MUCH cleaner. The service used to be MUCH nicer. I have been going here since I was a child. We used to get all of our candy from them and since it changed ownership, we have just forgotten about them. I will say that the Moo Moo Bars are amazing. As are the caramels(I used to know the lady who made this recipe).

Wow. This place has some yummy stuff. We got the honeysuckle covered in chocolate and I thought it was really good. They are really reasonable and make a lot of the stuff right there in the shop. They have a lot of really unique and cute things.

Moo. This is the only place to get moo bars, which are one of the best candy concoctions ever. You can also see all the truffles being made in the tiny side shop as well. Buying anything other than chocolate here is probably a waste of money and taste buds.

Old time candy store with cheap prices. The lady that runs this shop has been around forever and so has some of her candy.
