My dad and I use to go there all the time. Then he passed. For that I will give 5 stars. Let me tell you the type of person my dad was. Honorable. Enough said. I still like this place! Word to Magic!

Friday Fish Fry. Fish was the best I’ve had in this area. Burger was very good too. Fries were not crisp, but were fresh. Slaw was limp with too much dressing and tasted like old refrigerator. Service was cheerful and good, but the one waitress can get challenged by larger crowds during the busy times.

I was very excited to try the pancakes after all the positive reviews. But. They were completely burnt black on the bottom, all three of them were black. They were dry and tasted horrible. My husbands omelette was gross. Very oily and for a «‘meat lovers» it was very empty. Our toast wasn’t toasted and my home fries were also burnt to shit. Service was decent. Menu sucks.

We had the breakfast buffet and it as well as the service was awful. Have not been back in years!

The food is alright however when I ordered the Challenge, the pancakes were a little doughy and the bacon overcooked. It’s not bad after a night of boozing it in Watertown either or after PT during the week.

Finally ate here and so far all the other reviews are fairly accurate. Good food, decent prices, but the building is a little on the run down side. My service was ok nothing bad to say about it.

Another spot to stop on the way to the cabin, the food was standard but the FLIES were disgusting. They are everywhere, out of control. I can’t believe that we stayed and that the place continues to be open and patronized.

Over rated! Pancakes are ok and ya there big but that’s about it. The service stinks beyond anything! You will seat yourself and pretty much gotta wave someone down to get there attention before they will even acknowledge your a paying customer. I went a few times but just because pancakes are ridiculously huge. Save your money and go to a truck stop for breakfast is my recommendation at least then you won’t expect good service and food there and maybe surprised rather than disappointed if you go to the golden unicorn.

Now this place has pros and cons, but overall I like the place. The pancakes are huge and that’s hilarious, but they’re actually pretty darn tasty, certainly the best I’ve had up here. People like going here because it’s certainly novel enough to get a few smiles, plus the staff plays up the hilariousness of it. The cons: It’s not that comfortable of seating, not like a diner where you really feel like you have a little isolated spot. Flies: I hate saying it, but the three times I’ve been there I found myself shooing flies away the whole time – the place isn’t particularly dingy, just normal old restaurant, but dammit I was worried I was going to knock something off the table I was doing it so much.

When you are up north here in NY State it seems to me there are slim pickings when it comes to really good food. The Golden Unicorn looks like it has not been redone in 20 years its sort of greasy and homely looking. putting looks aside. My giant pancake was really yummy. my friends cream of wheat clearly cooked to order(wish I had ordered that) when visiting Fort Drum this place is worth the drive over for nice service(though a bit slow) and if you want to see lots of soldiers in uniform enjoying a meal off post.

Home of the pancake challenge– manhole sized pancakes, no exaggeration! If you can finish them then you get a free t-shirt, but most people only make it to the parking lot before they puke! Decent breakfast otherwise, but the place is filthy and service sucks. Last time I went it was 25 minutes before I even got my coffee and 45 for the food. Then the waitress ran off with my plate while I was in the middle of taking a bite because she thought she messed up our order.

This is a hidden gem, easy to drive by if you don’t know about it. The people are friendly and it’s a place where locals and soldiers from Fort Drum contribute to the mix of dedicated customers. The food is excellent, with generous portions and reasonable prices. If you order one of their big pancakes, be prepared to split it with someone — those pancakes are huge. The place is clean and the service has always been great during my occasional visits. I always stop there on my trips to Fort Drum or the Adirondacks. If you like unicorns — the place is decorated with a few hundred of them.
