I haven’t been to a New Leaf since I moved to the Bay Area, and I have to admit that I have a bias and love this place. The selection of produce was amazing, and they had a lot to offer in a small space. I wish they had a New Leaf near me.

I still love New Leaf. Many of the employees have known me since I was pregnant with my son and know him by name. I can find almost everything I want(they got rid of all of my favorite candies, such as those by Sunspire, slowly over time… not sure why *tears*). It’s a little cramped but shoppable. I appreciate that all of the produce is organic and most of it is sourced locally. The salad bar has bacon(!). I love the bulk herbs and spices section. Etc., etc. I’m mostly docking a star right now because of one cashier who often seems to be done for the day whenever we arrive with a big order. If we make a small purchase, she is all smiles. But if we buy two or three bags’ worth of goods, she ends up throwing our items into our bags haphazardly, then dumping our bags into our cart, clearly annoyed that we brought her work when that is the job she is currently doing — scanning and bagging items. It isn’t that I haven’t been there; I’ve worked public service and been exhausted and over it. But I really don’t want my strawberries, which they never have in a clamshell, crushed or my glass-bottled drink cracked and leaking because you are at that point in your day. If you need a break, take a break. Please don’t take it out on my food.

It really doesn’t get better than this place. Let New Leaf change how you look at food! Great business all around! Love you guys! If you ever want to expand outside of Santa Cruz I would love to be a part! Because everything they stand for is incredible! Cheers

I frequent this store often, for groceries and their deli/food bar. Their breakfast frittatas have really gone down hill, but other than that, the hot food is pretty on point. Their sushi selection is nice too. Their deli sandwiches, yum! And their VERVE coffee is a heaven sent in the mornings. They are no doubt pricey, but you can’t get the products or quality that you get here anywhere unless you go to SC. I recommend it, just be ready to pay more than what you would at Safeway or Nob Hill, understandably so.

This is such a great market/grocery store with so many unique items! My favorite part is the bulk items aisle where you can buy loose leaf tea, coffee beans, spices, rice, flours, beans, nuts, dried fruits, etc. Down the same aisle, they also sell fresh ground(GIY…grind it yourself) nut butters, as well as «fill your own» vanilla, honey, oils, and more. They also have a soup and salad bar, and plenty of pre-made items to pick up before you take a hike in Henry Cowell.

This place has an amazing selection. I even got raisins in bulk. The staff is super friendly. I love that about small towns. I come here whenever I’m in town. They have other locations as well. I’ve been to the one in Santa Cruz, but like this one better. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the area, which fortunately is coming up soon on my calendar.

I was able to find jerk paste. They have all sorts of Indian jarred sauces. These are great — let’s you do a quick 1skillet meal, that blows«hamburger helper» away ! Also lots if Asian ingredients that can be hard to find. Also products from the UK The meat department was so clean ! We recently got some strip steaks($ 7# on sale) that were tender and grilled beautifully. I do find $ 12 a pound for marinated pork a little offensive . Other prices also seemed«inflated« Compared to other local markets, offering the exact same items for less$. It would be hard to justify making this my «go to «supermarket for that reason. The really nice things they offer, mean I will«splurge» Whenever I can.

Delicious, healthy food no doubt, but way too expensive for a college student like me. I like to eat healthy whenever I can and to do that I try to find cheap organic produce wherever I can, but New Leaf is just way too expensive for me. Last time I went here I got a prepackaged chicken and rice lunch, a bottle of coconut water, and some chocolate and it came out to about $ 20 for just three items! I understand it’s better quality food than most places, but I’ve seen similar organic foods from other stores that go for much, much cheaper. They also only have like one or two registers at this location, so if it’s packed inside expect the lines to move very slowly. Other than that, New Leaf does have high quality and quite delicious foods as well as friendly service, I just wish it was a bit cheaper.

I like the store and the produce. The deli seriously lags for me. Too long of wait, too often. Selection of pre-made sandwiches is boring as is the sushi. The soups are unexciting and lack any kind of depth to them flavor wise. The sandwiches that are made to order, are just ok, if you’re willing to wait for them. They’re fresh as are the ingredients, but again lack any real character or flavor. So, if boring and unexciting organic deli food is what your after, this is your place. It sure isn’t mine. Today was my last attempt at any kind of service or purchase from the deli here. I will revisit the store however.

I have enjoyed some good sandwiches from the Deli at New Leaf in Felton and other New Leaf markets in Santa Cruz. My favorite is the Chicken Salad sandwich. My hold up with giving them more stars is that the service is so very slow. I have had to wait more than 40 mins at times for a sandwich and they weren’t even busy, just not efficient. As far as the market goes I enjoy it but it seems overpriced. I miss having the pharmacy in the store, as I always got great service there.

A shockingly good chicken salad sandwich on sourdough. Possibly the best sandwich I’ve ever had. Didn’t intend to eat lunch here, but it was the only thing around… And so glad we found it. But, no public bathrooms, and the organic peaches we bought weren’t ripe.

This place is like a Whole Foods, meets Mothers, meets gourmet meat market. I found this market well stocked, well lit, and clean. The produce selection was fresh, and had an amazing selection, given the size of this store.(Kind of like a smallish Trader Joes). They had a large bulk item section, with tons of dried fruits, nuts, grains, etc. I also had to stock up on several different kinds of cheeses, crackers, salami, and some fruits and nuts for a cheese platter. Very nice cheeses. Since we were Glamping(O.K. RVing) we also picked up everything required to make smores, including firewood.

Such good food! My friend and I got a ton of items from the deli, bakery and smoothie bar area. It was all nourishing, delicious, and made with quality ingredients. The employees were really helpful and nice. There’s seating outside, so we had ourselves a picnic feast while enjoying the day and the lovely sunshine!

I love this chain of stores! Best grocery stores in the Santa Cruz area. Have very high quality food, and they have done all the work so you know that what you are buying is ethical. Plus, they aren’t crazy expensive like Whole Foods. My friends who work growing food also like selling to this store, which to me is the best endorsement. Apparently Whole Foods tries to underpay them all the time.

I’ll come here from time to time for the superior meat department. It’s always fresh, there’s a great selection, and the butchers are knowledgeable. The produce is great as well, and the employees are always friendly without being pushy. Parking can be a bit of a pain, especially now that it’s sharing a lot with the Cremer house, but that’s a small miss amongst many hits.

I like this place. It’s convenient for me as I live down the street, but the folks inside are friendly and they have a pretty good selection of fruits and veggies as you would expect. The«regular» veggie selection isn’t anymore expensive than Safeway & I’d much rather get it from these guys than the much less than friendly Safeway around the corner. That place has some personnel issues, which is another story. Decent selection of beers and lots of ice cream to choose from as well.

I love New Leaf. I shop here for my raw milk, raw pasture butter and for my local grown produce. I love that so many people who work here know about the products and actually care. Sometimes I just need help finding the right supplement and other times its a good choice cut of meat for something different. I love that no matter what I need, they hook it up. Also, it helps that the produce is so fresh its usually being stocked in front of you! Fresh as arriving by the moment! I also love that if you ask, they will help you shop, box up your food and carry to your car. I have had times where I can not lift anything, and am doing PT and need my stuff carried. Super helpful ! Thank you! Oh and the older guy in the supplements– super helpful. Think his name is Roger? Cool dude! Thanks!
