I went in here a few months ago. It smelled soooo good. I stopped in for a hoagie and started looking around. They had so much different foods. I found a little bar in the back and got some shooters. The hoagie was very good and i thought it was gonna taste like your average hoagie but i was wrong.

This place is a gem in a sea of mediocrity. I visit my mother nearby a few times a year and can always count on Roma’s Market to find exactly what I’m looking for! True Italian ingredients! From their homemade frozen pasta and sauces to the deli and assorted package goods, everything is authentic! Plus, they love what they do! They truly care about good food! Having grown up nearby I can tell you there aren’t many restaurants or markets that do.

Again, Unilocalers led us to this delightful Italian market, deli and steak shop. Thanks Unilocal Nation! This is one of the few places outside of the Italian Market where a shopper may ask for an olive oil with particular characteristics and receive both a recommendation and a taste test. So many places just won’t spend the time. In addition to an extensive inventory of olive oils and vinegars, Roma’s offers a dizzying array of Italian cheeses at phenomenal prices. No reason to buy from Costco that 2 pound hunk of Reggiano when you only need a half pound that you can purchase here. Roma’s handmade pastas are outstanding as are its«imported» from Brooklyn crusty breads. Among my favorite purchases, however, was a case of D.O.P. San Marzano tomatoes. Roma’s actually carries several brands, and the owner is happy to regale you with the relative merits of each.

The staff is friendly and it’s smells sooooo good when you walk in. I got the Italian hoagie special and it was huge, delicious, and cheap! The cheese and meats are fresh. I am definitely going back again.

I’m originally a Brooklyn girl then transplanted to north jersey and Italian delis are on every street corner. Once I moved to Pa, I knew it will be something I will miss. But last year, before thanksgiving, I was looking to put together an antipasta platter. Enter this little gem! I was in my heaven. It reminded me as a child going to 86th street with my parents in Brooklyn. Definitely brought back some happy memories! This is my one stop shop for some real Italian food!

The crab-stuffed ravioli here is very good with a generous amount of filling! The pasta itself is tender and they don’t skimp on the crabmeat. Try it with a rosa-cream sauce. They have a lot of varieties, including cheese, meat, mushroom, and spinach but the crab is my favorite. The stuffed shells here are also better than anything that you would get from a neighborhood pizza parlor, too. The stock of Italian grocery items here is almost as amazing as Claudio’s. They have everything from prosciutto to smoked cheeses to peppers to olive oils. Plus, they also have assemble-your-own cannoli components, anise pizelles, and tiramisu(almost as good as Roma Bakery’s in Blue Bell). While it’s not as jaw-droppingly amazing as DiBruno’s or Claudio’s, this is as good as it gets in NE Phila.

i love this place. we were stationed in italy for three years and when we moved back i sought an italian deli where my kids could practice their italian and i could get back to my expatriate life. i found it. ulysses is the owner and he gives me a giant hug whenever i go in there now. the tiramisu is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. i have actually placed a bread order in the morning and drove back to get it because the guy who trucks it in from brooklyn hadn’t arrived yet. i have found all the specialty italian staples that i once cooked with back in sicily, and it is just a very authentic and friendly place. the only criticism i have is that is slightly pricey. the items are all authentic so if you are willing to pay a premium for them this is your place.

I drove from Fishtown to buy meatballs from them today. My dad happened upon Roma’s and gave me some of these perfect little meatballs one day. They are heavenly. absolutely worth the drive. My husband who rarely eats red sauce or meatballs has been waiting and asking for me to get more from dad. Today I drove up for meatballs as well as some other things for a party. I spent 140 and got the following: 2 large containers of strawberries, one bag of seedless grapes, 11 hoagie rolls(just dropped off from his brooklyn supplies) 2 italian loafs(same bakery in brooklyn) 2 bags of cannoli filling mini canolli shells(a few dozen) 2 frozen pizzas which the owner swore would be the best I ever had two bags of meatballs(about 10 pounds) a pound of freshly grated locatelli. something else I am forgetting… some things I asked prices for, some I did not. The meatballs were on sale for 4 dollars and change a pound(I’d pay double they’re so good) the rolls were over a dollar each — also TOTALLY worth it. the cheese was about 10 bucks for the pound.- they grate their cheeses fresh there and add no filler or cheap cheeses. the strawberries were on sale for 2 a container. the cannoli filling? no idea, but desert isn’t something that can be priced. the pizzas were five each. the owner took me by the hand and shopped with me, he showed me the cheese wheels that had just been delivered and gave me the background on most of what I purchased.(he also walked my bags to my car so nothing got crushed) The prices may seem high, but for the quality they are very reasonable. I think I would’ve spent more at reading terminal and not have had the lovely experience. If I had told him my budget from the beginning he would have limited what he showed me I am sure but I told him where I lived and he wanted to make sure I saw everything. I will absolutely go back. especially for the sales — he was having a sale on olive oil, balsamic vinegar and some spaghetti sauce.

Oh My Gosh. I really hope this place makes it. A real Italian market with fresh pasta, bread delivered fresh from Brooklyn daily, and great desserts.(The personal size tirimasu and other desserts come in a REAL glass dish that you keep. I know its not a big deal, but in this day and age something of quality IN something of quality is a rarity!) The shopping center is small and kind of hard to get into, but if you park on the little side street next to it you should be good. Warning — the owner may try to feed you samples when you are in there! :)

I think I have died and I’m in Italian heaven! This new shop is located in a very small shopping center, with only four other businesses. Roma’s is fairly new and I have passed it many times over the past few months. Today, I finally broke the Italian Ice and answered to a new sign that read, buy one homemade pasta, get another free. I love free, so I pulled in. Open Mon.-Sat. 9am to 7pm and Sun. 9am-4pm. I really have been meaning to check it out and hubby has been asking why I haven’t. Once you walk in, you will find an Olive Oil display, like none I have ever seen, there must have been 40 or more different oils ranging in size and price and most brands I have never heard of, all imported of course and some more virgin than others, if you know what I mean. You then pass a fairly large fresh produce isle, with many fresh herbs, both in pots and loose, bagged by them. Fresh fruits and veggies are available, which is a God send, since my closest grocery store is 15 minutes away. Next they have a huge side by side, glass encased reach in refrigerator filled with every type of homemade pasta you can imagine. They make it right there in the store and their shiny new pasta machine, which is humongous, is front and center staged in their large picture window. I glanced to my right and saw yet another large reach in, this time a freezer, filled with homemade stuffed shells, escargot, large bags of uncooked frozen snails in their shells and I could all but taste them. Then I spotted many boxes, like gift boxes, each filled with homemade ravioli’s. On the door, it gave the prices for each kind and another sign explaining that when you bought one box, you got the second for ½ price. Being nosey, I had to take a peek inside. The boxes are not sealed and the layer of one dozen large square raviolis were covered in a tissue paper. There are several isles of jarred products, ranging from roasted peppers, to capers, tomatoes, to clams, both in the tiniest baby shells I have ever seen to shucked clams, sauces, pickled veggies, olives and vinegars. Everything in this store, other than the breads, homemade pastas and many deli items, is imported. They feature Dietz & Watson for most of their deli meats and cheeses and that is supporting a Philadelphia based company. I bought one box each of the Lobster, Cheese, Asparagus & Cheese, Spinach & Cheese, Mushroom, and the Crab raviolis. This store is 5 minutes from my house and on my way to the grocery store. I know for sure, they will be getting part of my grocery money each week. They have cases of whole prosciutto’s, huge wheels of imported cheese, huge containers of imported olives and the Italian men walk around drinking espresso from a demitasse cup and ask you if you would like one. Me, pass up an espresso? Make it a double, with one lump of sugar and a twist of lemon. Oh sugar, I’m in Italy, strange looks and no lemon twist for me. Update, I will never buy my ravioli’s anywhere else. They are delectable pillows filled to capacity with the finest cheese, meat and seafood. They have perfected the art of ravioli making.
