Food is ok for the price. I got smoked chicken it was pretty dry. Staff is super friendly, parking sucks and of course they dont accept credit cards! Speedi pig step it up or dickies is gonna take most of your business.

My favorite local BBQ place. Great service, And I love thier smoked chicken wings, tender, flavorful, delicious. I usually get a chopped pork plate, with stew, slaw, and of course cracklin cornbread, and wings for an appetizer. My wife usually gets a piglet with no bun. Would definitely recommend as a place to try.

I would go to Dickies instead. Dickies is just north a half mile. I’ll eat a Dickies anytime. Dickies has a much better selection and free ice cream cones.

Favorite BBQ in town. Wish they took credited cards so I didn’t have to go to the bank to eat there. But love this place.

I grew up in Fayette County and as a child(before I knew better) my parents would take us to Speedi-pig about once a month for dinner. This was my only real exposure to BBQ. I wasn’t very impressed. After high school I moved up to Atlanta and did some traveling for work and pleasure and started to experience what BBQ is really about. Now I am a self proclaimed BBQ Guru. I have a few smokers that I use and am always experimenting on how I can perfect my BBQ. I also am not afraid to try any commercial BBQ I can get my hands on. My wife and I were in south Fayette county looking for land and drove by speedi-pig. I told her the story of how speedi-pig was a staple of my child hood dinners so we stopped in for lunch this past weekend. It is in the same location and looks the same inside and out. I am sad to say that the food is horrible. Well. Let me clarify. The BBQ was horrible. There was 4 people in our group. Between the four of us we ordered 3 different meats. Chopped pork, ribs and«beef». I ordered the beef and when I order beef I expect to get beef brisket. I guess I should have asked. They serve some sort of beef roast that they smoke. I guess it seemed like a decent cut … Maybe ?? But it was dry and missed that classic brisket taste. So… Basically everything tasted the same. The pulled pork, the«beef», the Brunswick stew and the ribs all had this dull bland smoke to them. We were all very unimpressed. They all lacked flavor and needed some immediate help. The sides were good. Between the four of us we had beans, onion rings, bread, coleslaw and those were all decent. What really stood out as being GREAT was the service. Our server was very nice and she stayed on top of the service. Always coming around to check on us, fill our tea glasses, and make sure we had enough napkins. She was great ! I wish I would have gotten her name. Overall … I’m not sure how speedi pig is still around. Maybe South Fayette is lacking good BBQ and no one knows any better. Please keep in mind that the parking is limited and they do NOT take credit or debit cards. Only cash or local checks. You have been warned !!

The food was decent but not the best barbecue I’ve ever had. It’s was almost too dry. The employees were wonderful and very attentive to us. The no credit card thing is a bit annoying as we had to go by and get cash first.

A bbq«joint» in a good way. Serve on old style plastic school trays… love it. Good food, good service at descent prices. Try the smoked wings. Good. Like others have said though, no credit cards

My husband’s family loves Speedy Pig. I’m from out of state and I really love this place as well. Tasty food at inexpensive prices. And as advertised service is quick.

First time ordering, to go. Didn’t know till we got there that they don’t take plastic, even though I told the girl it was our first time ordering. Ordered one full rack and one half rack, full rack had sauce, half rack did not. Sauce too salty for my taste anyway so I put my own sauce on the half rack(I’m not a fan of sauce that is too sweet either, I like a perfect balance). Onion rings greasy, no crunch. Meat did fall off the bone, hence the two stars.

It’s inexpensive southern fare. I am pretty neutral on speedy pig, but I got a sweet camo hat for cheap so I can’t complain. It’s not bad and it’s BBQ. Bad BBQ is still good.

It took some thought and consideration as to whether to give Speedi Pig 2 or 3 stars. They deserve 2 because of the dry, mediocre bbq, but they deserve 3 for the friendly staff. I settled on 3 stars but would probably not go back. The bbq pork sandwich was dry and kind of tasteless and served on a stale bun but the portions size was generous. If you are heading south on 85 continue down to Bebe and Bucks in Haralson. Their bbq is the kind that you will wake up dreaming about.

Excellent customer service and excellent food! They have a «piglet»(pork) sandwich for only $ 0.99. Between my buddy and I, we got 4 sandwiches, 2 sides of frys, and two drinks for only $ 12. The only downside is that they don’t serve Coke from the fountain. I won’t downgrade their rating for that. :) Would DEFINITELY come back here again if I was in the area!

I’ve begun making a list of the foods I miss now that I’ve left NC. There are things and places here that have no equal in NC(Buford Highway being at the top of that list), but for others I’ve yet to find even a close approximation of what I’d had back home. I miss Cook-Out’s burgers and shakes, Cheerwine floats, and being able to choose a corndog as a side item. So classy! I miss Bojangles’, though it’s quickly encircling and moving in on Mr. Cathy’s home territory(His neighbor, Mrs. Winner, closed her eyes and imagined happier times as she was being viciously victimized by Popeye, leaving her realm ripe for reallocation among the other poultry purveyors). I miss scrapple. Surely someone in this metro must sell it. Oh, if only I could find a market that sells Neese’s products here… If I did, it would probably be some upscale place called a petit marché or some such moniker, where they have it displayed ironically in a cooler across from a pyramid of PBR, with a price of $ 8 or more for a loaf that costs $ 3 in NC. Last week, I realized how much I miss NCBBQ(western/Lexington-style pulled pork, that is). I was driving aimlessly in search of lunch, cursing the prospect of settling for Zaxby’s, which lay just ahead of me. Then, I saw the sign. «Piglet 99¢». Illegal U-turn. This little piggy’s getting doused in Mexican Joe and going wee-wee-wee all the way down my esophagus. With the sweet aroma of the smoker in the air, I approached Speedi-Pig expecting Spartan interior but, at a minimum, decent food. I entered and found the place to be huge, compared to what I’d envisioned. Cash only, as if you’d even need to ask. I asked for 2 Piglets. I had no idea what I was ordering, but they were a dollar each so I didn’t care. «Two piglet sandwiches… Regular or hot?» the middle-aged blonde asked. Hot, of course. «What makes it hot?» «Sauce.» Oh… so that’s how it is. When the meat’s no good, hide that fact with sauce. Pity. No worries, I shall persevere and enjoy these porcine pickings however they come. «Slaw on them?» I asked. If the sauce question hadn’t already done it, her blank stare woke me from my reverie and reminded me that I was in unfamiliar territory. «You want the special?» she asked in her bewilderment. A minute or two of mutual misunderstandings followed. Finally I asked, in the most simple English I could muster, whether I could add slaw to the sandwich. «You know… like, on top of the BBQ?» «You can buy an individual slaw. $ 1.50» She pointed at the individual size. Christ… it’s tiny. «Just the sandwiches, please.» The next guy in line was paying for the meal he’d just eaten there. Either mildly retarded(in which case, I won’t judge) or incredibly stupid(which I will), he spent five minutes debating the price of his meal. It took two employees speaking to him as though he were an infant before he relented and left, still convinced that he was correct. The cashier stopped just short of calling him an ultra-maroon. I waited at the counter for about 15 minutes. The cashier left for a while and then returned smelling as though she’d just had a threesome with Joe Camel and the Marlboro Man. The stench was so horrid that I nearly lost my appetite. She threw 2 servings of a dark sauce(and no napkin) into a bag that appeared from the kitchen and handed it to me, and then I rushed to my car to devour my piglets. I unwrapped the first and removed the top half of the bun to survey my meal. Very plain. Finely-chopped. A few drops of the same dark sauce. I tasted the sauce she’d provided. Hot? Not even close. I should’ve stolen a bottle of Texas Pete from them to add a little heat. The sauce was, quite literally, BBQ sauce… as in, the same sauce you’d find at the store in the bottle labeled«Kroger BBQ Sauce.» The stuff you’d use to make some lazy BBQ chicken, except that it had been watered-down. For $ 1, the Piglet isn’t a bad deal, but it’s not good BBQ. It’s sustenance food. Meat on bread. Skip their«homemade» sauce and go with the Texas Pete(mmm… Xanthan gum). This isn’t flavor country. Overall, 4⁄10.

Good at the basics, pork and Brunswick stew. Don’t stray from the basics or you may be disappointed. Good cobblers.

I had the pork plate which included chopped pork, slaw, stew and 2 pieces of garlic bread. The stew was very good! Not as good as mine but they never are. it needed more smoke meat in it so I just added part of my pork. My brother had the speedy pig $.99 sandwich. I must say that is a great deal. The BBQ sauce is NC base. If I was in the neighborhood again, I would stop by there again but I would not drive out of my way unless I wanted a cheap$$$$ BBQ fix. Were else can you get a BBQ sandwich for one dollar.

Amazing BBQ. Very good sauces, especially the hot sauce, great Brunswick Stew. I always look forward to going home to get real GABBQ and Speedi-Pig never disappoints.

Speedi Pig is one of a small few bbq places in Fayetteville which, unfortunately, are all subpar. The wings were over cooked and dry, ribs were okay but nothing you’d lick clean, and to top it off — they only take cash! I would recommend a better place for BBQ if there was one. The search continues…

I love this place. My favorite dish is a signature of theirs called the Piglet. It is a chopped pork slider. Served with your choice of mild, medium or hot flavored sauce. I usually get the mild, still spicy but not so much you can’t taste. The sauce is wonderful. Last time I was there I got a half rack of ribs. These were perfection. The meat fell off the bone just pulling the ribs appart to eat. So tender and so yummy. I love the service and atmosphere here. In my book one of the best.
