Stopped on our way through town… impressed! The barbecue was really tasty and the price was more than reasonable. Cute atmosphere too. I had the special and was surprised at the amount of food.

We were looking for some hometown BBQ. The food was very tasty and the portions were large. The service was fast and don’t forget the dessert! The fried apple pie was excellent!

I’ve been in town this week visiting my brothers in laws so I had to come and try this pave out because everywhere I’ve looked said I should go here. We started with the fried pickles which were delicious. My brother and I both got the special for the day which was smoked meat loaf. I enjoyed it and it was unique but I wish I would have gotten some pulled pork or briscuit. We finished with some deep fried peach pie which was great. I’ve never had deep fried pie before so it was an awesome experience. Over all great experience and great food.

The service here is unbelievable. You will never want or need for anything. It’s a real intimate dining experience. I liked calling the kitchen from our table to place the order. Fun experience!

Great food, great service and a unique atmosphere. Hands down much better than sassys in my opinion. And the best part is its relatively cheap for the amount of food you get.

Ate there for lunch on Saturday 2÷13÷16 and had the Jumbo Hot Link sandwich w/batter dipped fries. The fries were perfect. Cooked thoroughly and not greasy to the touch. Man they were good. The meat on the sandwich was awesome. I’m not sure but it’s the only true smoked hot link sandwich. The heat was there and the taste was perfect. But, it was not Jumbo. I paid for a Jumbo and maybe the amount of meat was correct, but when you name something Jumbo, it better by damn be a lot bigger than the normal version. This sandwich should have been called a Smidgen More Than Regular.

I like it. I appreciate a non-chain restaurant and try to support them. Good food, nice staff — no complaints. Great job and many wishes for continued success!

Good barbecue, friendly service. Nothing out of the ordinary. The patio is lovely when the weather is nice! This is our go-to for BBQ.

This place was good, but nothing really out of the ordinary and not as good as Whole Hog. The inside was appropriately rustic. Good variety on the menu. I liked that the sandwiches came in two sizes. The pulled pork had a good flavor, but was fattier than I expected. The BBQ sauces were okay. The onion ring batter was very light and crispy — similar to the texture of funnel cake batter. Sides were okay. Didn’t really care much for the battered fries. Chili, baked beans and coleslaw had a good taste. Fried pies were good, but I think they would have been better served with a scoop of ice cream instead of a cup(mine was icy and frozen on the bottom like it had partially melted refrozen) Like other reviewers said, there are phones at the tables and you can place your order via the phone. We ordered fried pies that way, but a server came to the table to take our drink and dinner order.

There are always more than a handful of people upon coming to Northwest Arkansas that will recommend this place if you want good BBQ. But that’s precisely just what it was, ‘Good’ BBQ. My review — may change again on a second visit — as this review is based solely on the quality of their CATERING menu — which, execution wise may be different than their main menu. The CATERING menu consisted of 3 meat items, Beef Brisket, Chicken, Pork. You can choose how you want them either pulled, sliced, chopped etc. They also come with mild and hot bbq sauce — which you would dress yourself. *Maybe this is what didnt impress me too much — i would have preferred the meat prepared with sauce already. The catering menu also offered 3 sides — which I got, Mac N Cheese, Cole Slaw, and Baked beans — along with 12 buns. None of the sides I ordered were really all that memorable. Baked Beans had a burnt BBQ taste, and was a bit mushy — though expected to be. The Mac N Cheese had an off stick to the roof of your mouth gummy texture, and the Cole Slaw was mediocre. Overall — this place is good enough to impress someone who’s new to the area, and who is easily charmed by the funky décor, and southern hospitality.

Love the phones at the table and how friendly the people are. There bbq is to die for and the dipped fries are a must. I have been coming here way more than I should but its so good and the meats are always excellent. One thing I like the most about Penguin Ed’s is that at their other locations the menus are different but in the best of ways, more options and different things to try. Also you cant leave without trying one of their Fried Pies, you’ll thank me later.

I was down in Fayetteville this past week for Bikes, Blues &BBQ, and needed to get lunch coordinated for our team. Given the event name, I figured it was only fitting if we got barbecue. Penguin Ed’s came up as recommended, so I gave them a call and placed a catering order for pick-up. I was a little worried, since I was only giving them an hour lead time for a catering order feeding 24, but they handled it with ease. Beyond the great service, the food was fantastic. I got my barbecue fix, and won a ton of brownie points from my team for providing such a great meal(double win).

Where do I start… Okay so I’m visiting and I saw the reviews and decide this looks good. I saw some pics and thought it would be cool to order on the phone. We put it in the GPS and it took us through a residence and we almost thought we wouldn’t make it and there it was. First impression was a little hole in the wall place. Old looking and we looked at each other and said its either gonna be great or horrible. But as we step out of the car we could smell the greatness! If I could say anything negative I’d say when we walked it it was pretty warm in there. There was little seating but it’s a home feel atmosphere. Now for the food! I ordered the #3 plate. I got pulled pork hot links and a rib. No joke some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had! I got 3 sides. Baked beans okra and Mac and cheese. The sides were sides. Nothin to Bragg about but not bad at all. And for what it’s worth the dr pepper was great too! I know it’s fountain but seems to be different at other places. It also came with 2 slices of toast. I’m in town visiting for work but I cannot wait to come back next week and indulge again! Oh almost forgot. The wait staff were just so polite and fun and courteous. Could ask for a better experience. Unless they paid me to eat there haha

I don’t get the hype. The place is silly. The waitresses giggled at me because I didn’t know to just come in and sit down. Halfway between divebar and Dairy Queen is the vibe I got when I went in, so I wasn’t sure whether to walk to the counter or sit down at a table or what. Got a pulled pork sandwich, baked beans and coleslaw. To me this is a BBQ lunch. If a place can’t get this right they’re not worth going to. The beans tasted like they were out of a can with(maybe) a little something tossed in them. Coleslaw was plain and unappealing. A few drops of Kraft-tasting sauce in the middle of a pile of barely seasoned meat. Seemed like two batches of pork were mixed together because some was bone dry and some was a bit juicy. All that slapped on a regular tiny white bread bun, not grilled, not toasted, just fluffy cheap hamburger buns. A lot of places in college towns are awful because a large portion of the people that eat there are inebriated students. And it’s OK to be a student. And it’s OK to drink. But your tastebuds aren’t working right during these crazy college years. I know mine weren’t, lol. This place is an example of just that. One of the worst I’ve had, and I’ve eaten a lot of BBQ. And btw waitresses. It’s not good business to laugh at customers unless they make a joke. You’re not in high school anymore.

The Brisket taste like it’s been on the grill forever, so moist and delicious reminds me of home. Chopped or sliced you can’t go wrong. Excellent lunch. A1 product, I’m definitely coming back when I am in town again.

The food is FANTASTIC! The atmosphere, like I saw another reviewer say, is no frills. However, the atmosphere fits the food. Nothin fancy, just good stuff! I’m a pretty tough critic and the ONLY reason I gave it 4 stars is because I believe a 5 star meal is life changing! The cookies on the other hand… Those are life changing! If you’re in Fayetteville and feel the need to fill your soul with an abundant amount of smoked meats, this is the place for you!

Great spot for some good barbecue. I had the fried pickles(with ranch), onion rings, smoked wings, mac and cheese, baked beans and potato salad. The smoked wings were by far my favorite item. The fried pickles were good but with the fried onion rings, I was a little fried out. It was grease overload but still very good. I recommend the fried items in smaller quantities. The sauce on the wings was tangy and delish. I was not impressed with the sides. The mac and cheese was the most disappointing. There wasn’t much flavor to call it mac and cheese… it was really just ‘mac’. The sides are just that, sides to great meats. The patio was the best. It was nice to enjoy great weather with my meal. I heard the place gets pretty packed. When I was there at 10:30(opening) there were already several tables taken.

I didn’t see any red phones, but the pulled pork was pretty good. I used a mix of their hot and mild sauces to get just the right flavor.
