Incredible sushi and Korean dishes that tastes amazing as well as presented beautifully. Staff have always been very friendly and kind. We pass up the multiple sushi places that are within a couple miles of us in Novi to come here instead. They have never disappointed!

Highly recommend this restaurant for their sushi! They have a variety of tasty rolls and their fish is incredibly fresh. Apps — Salad & Miso Soup; Standard at a sushi restaurant, nothing extraordinary — Gyoza; Pretty good, serving of 4 large pan fried gyozas and soy sauce for dipping — Sashimi Nachos; Poke style sashimi mixed with avocado and cucumbers in spicy mayo — served with fried wontons — Beef Tataki; A little too chewy for my taste Sushi — Ebi, Salmon, and Tuna Nigiri; The fish to rice ratio was superb, with generous portions of fish on top. Salmon was my favorite! — Sushi Boat; Came with a variety of rolls… A Spicy Tuna Roll, Rainbow Roll, Unagi Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, some type of veggie roll and a roll topped with a baked concoction. All delicious! The service was fantastic. The sushi chef and server both engaged with us and were very attentive throughout our dinner. I recommend Sushi Mi if you’re craving sushi. I tried some of their Korean dishes but they weren’t memorable — so this review is solely based off of their sushi. It’s one of the best sushi restaurants I’ve been to in Michigan!

Don’t miss this hidden gem when you’re looking for a yummy place to go eat in Downtown Farmington. It’s hidden in a shopping plaza tucked all the way in the back. It’s a great spot for lunch for dinner with a lot of choices. It’s a family owned restaurant and if you’re looking for locally owned and operated, this is your spot. They have a liquor license so you can have some Kirin or if wine and sake is your thing they have a nice selection of those as well. They have a Korean menu, yum! And of course your traditional Japanese dishes along with really fresh sushi and a good selection of unique rolls. They have great friendly service as well. The prices are very friendly too. If you haven’t had a chance to check this place out, do it soon. Sit at the sushi bar and talk to the chef or bring a date and share a beer and some sake. You won’t be disappointed.

Hands down the best sushi in the area. My partner and I are regulars every timers order my partner is the one to pick up they know him by his name, and always know our order and gives us extras every time! Amazing quality fish and they give you proper amount unlike sushi house who over charges and the quality is not that good at all. Anyway come here they are amazing!

Went here for lunch. The staff was very friendly. Music was a little off for the atmosphere, had a lot of pop songs currently on the radio. Got the spicy combo. Came with soup first which was good. Someone at our table had old lipstick on their spoon which they replaced. Salad with ginger dressing was delicious. The spicy combo came with three different rolls. They weren’t rolled the best. Fell apart as soon as you picked them up. Taste was decent, for the price 12 I can’t really complain.

5 stars for service, food and drink. We loved everything! The Sushi was delicious and the spicy noodle soup hit the spot! The Soju Lemon was recommended by the waitress. Such an easy drink! I took the soup home since it was such a large portion. I think the prices were reasonable. We will definitely be returning and trying out the rest of the menu.

See picture for I am talking about. I ordered food to go. When I got home and opened the box, there’s a paper INSIDE the box, on top of the food. The paper is the kitchen check which I believe the waitress used to write down what I have ordered. I called to ask them to be more careful next time. They told me ‘it’s ok don’t worry about it’. I didn’t make a big deal of it and was polite all the time. But I think they should at least pretend it is a big deal and apologize, which it is.

The good– cute atmosphere, very friendly staff, fresh fish, large selection of sushi with rotating specials, awesome meal presentation. Love the«I’m on Fire» roll and the cucumber roll. The bad– wait staff sometimes doesn’t understand English that well but they figured it out eventually :) Definitely recommend it. This is a hidden gem.

There used to be a Korean restaurant here called Go Rae Jung, and I’m not sure if it is the same management, but it is now a Japanese/Korean restaurant. I’ve been here twice, and I haven’t been very impressed with the sushi. The rice has been hit and miss — cold and dry at times. The quality of the fish seems to be fine, but definitely not as good as other places. They seem to focus more on fancy plating than on the food. I haven’t tried the Korean food since it changed from Go Rae Jung to Sushi Mi, so I can’t say how good/bad it is. The waitstaff is very nice, and there are plenty of tables so you probably won’t have to wait to get seated. If our favorite nearby sushi bars(One World Market or New York Sushi) are closed, then we will go to Sushi Mi if we are really craving sushi, but it is definitely not our first choice.

One of best sushi restaurants I have been to in a very long time. Everything was fresh and quality. The waitstaff was very accommodating with my guests, including my toddler daughter and I was thoroughly impressed. We had the Dragon Rolls, Spicy Tuna, Firecracker Rolls and the Hot and Spicy Soup, it was all fantastic. Trust me we’ll be back lol.

I came here with my friend for the omakase. INCREDIBLE across the board. The sushi was fresh and delicious. Wonderful variety and expertly prepared. The waitress was the most delightful waitress I have ever had EVER. I can’t wait to go back! I am a Sushi Zen devotee… Sushi Mi maybe my new favorite. Give them a try!

Love the food here! I have mostly indulged in the Korean bbq(samgyupsal and bulgogi) but occasionally I’ll order a sushi roll as well. Everything has been delicious. The staff is attentive and delightful.

A pretty good Japanese restaurant~ On my list, it is first place for Japanese as Ajishin~ also one of the best Japanese restaurant in East Michigan~ The Japanese chef is kind and serving good food~ the sushi here is fresh(chef would not allow you to order the not fresh thing, he will tell you what is not fresh and don’t order) and extremely cost efficient~ my fav food in this restaurant are: white tuna, sea urchin, fire roll, soon do bu, and chef choice~ really highly recommend this restaurant ~ if there is 10stars~ I would give it all~

Here’s a very talented and creative chef who wants to make its plates into artwork. In addition to the food looking great, the flavors were just as good. My eyes and palette were very happy this day. Starting with their Tuna Carpoccio, its presented beautifully and served differently than a traditional Carpoccio. Rather thin slices, it’s served more sashimi style with large chunks of tuna. It gives you the opportunity to get the full flavor of the tuna while having a fulfilling portion. Even though that could be a meal in itself, continue on with trying one of their box lunches. You will not leave hungry. Try the Mi Box containing seven pieces of sashimi, three roll pieces, two dumplings, octopus salad, edamame, seaweed salad, and fruit. I’m not joking, all that is in the box. Through the lunch it has all the textual and flavor moments you want. It had meaty, crunch, slimy, sweet, tart, sour, salty, and savory. Are there any others they left out? Spicy I suppose if you think of the wasabi. To finish up, not sure how we had any more room. We wrapped up with special #10, tempura roll with cream cheese, crab, and jalapeño with an apple on the side. Here’s another crunch with sweet and spicy. Its yummy and not to mention the apple looks so beautiful. I almost don’t want to eat it. The restaurant is rather large with only a few people in it, which helped with receiving our food quickly. I look forward to the next sampling of food here.

I cannot rave enough about Sushi Mi. Family owned and operated. Excellent service. Kind people. Everything is made fresh in house. The owner told us they shop locally every single day for the day’s menus. Every roll is awesome and the presentation is amazing. I can’t get enough of the place.

Somehow, good company always makes food taste better. That, and alcohol. I had the pleasure of both on my most recent trip to this restaurant. I was just here for a co-worker’s going away party(L2!) and a friend’s birthday(Ran and Sorodet!), and was rather surprised. This place serves both Korean and Sushi, but if you want to cook your own bulgogi, you’ll have to sit at one of the only working cooking tables in the back. That’s ok, since I dont like to cook my own food anyways(in this day and age, who does?). Here’s the lowdown, as only your boy Minh can give you. Pros: +Sushi menu is pretty vast. +Cooked Mackerel dish bomb as heck. No bones either. +Bulgogi bomb as heck. +Nigri sushi cut long and thick(Bran!) +Sake Bombs +Orange deserts given by restaurant! Cons +Restroom kind of dirty +Mackerel sushi not all that +Korean Side dishes not all that. Notes: Grace, our waitress, was super-nice. Sorodet might have a crush. On a side note, L2 and V went into the men’s restroom instead of the womens. They were probably drunk. Sorry we were too loud. Thanks for dinner, L1 and KP! Really a 4 star restaurant, but I had such a good time with my friends that I bumped it to a 5!

Throughly amazing. Had the«I am on Fire» and«Sushi Mi 2». The chef made a Tuna Rose for Sicely was not only beautiful but sublime. It was sitting in a special vinaigrette that I have never had before and elevated the tuna flavor.

So incredibly happy to have found this place. After living in south korea, this is the closest Ive found to authentic korean food near my house. Not only that but the service wAs incredibly friendly and accommodating considering Im a vegetarian. the sushi too can be ordered in traditional simple flavors or creative american palate taste bud requests! I cannot say enough about how delicious this place was, I was so full but didn’t want to stop! Ill be a regular for sure — my new weekly spot.

Much better than most of the other sushi places in the area. I’m a big fan of their Spider Roll. It’s a nice size and it’s only $ 9. I’ll definitely be back… Maybe today.

We came here a few nights ago because Sushi House didn’t have power. We were very pleasantly surprised! There weren’t too many people there that evening and we got seated right away. The place is very clean and there are a bunch of christmas light decorations on old wine and saki bottles. The 2 person tables are bigger than your average which worked well for us(a couple with large appetites). We started off with calamari tempura which was freshly made with just enough crunch. You get a miso soup and ginger salad for each person if you order $ 15 worth of sushi. We ordered 4 rolls — your average shrimp tempura roll, and 3 specialty rolls — The volcano roll, which is made very similar to Sushi House; the yam yam roll, which is a deep fried roll with a lot of yumminess; and a kinky eel roll that had eel and crunchy salmon skin in it. They were all ah-mazing. Halfway through our meal, they gave us 2 pieces of a crab and egg roll wrapped in cucumber on the house. It was so fresh and gave us both a nice break from the other rolls. Overall we had a great experience here with awesome food and very kind people/staff. We never felt rushed, which can often happen at other sushi places. Have been recommending this place to friends, so I wanted to recommend it to the Unilocal community! Go! You won’t regret it :)

Simple clean atmosphere. Myself & my vegetarian girlfriend ordered hot sake & bibimbap. The stone bowls were hotter than I’m used to with Korean(crisped out rice black in some spots) but the food was extremely fresh & delicious. Came with ginger salad, miso soup, & kimchee(sp?). Most noteworthy was the amazing service! We were never wanting for anything and the chef sent out a cute cucumber roll smiley face for the vegetarian. Amazing spot.

Excellent experience start to finish for us. I went here on a Sunday evening around 5 pm with my wife for her birthday. Not busy but I found it to be a great time to have dinner. It was our first time trying this new sushi place out. They have a nice outside patio area for dining(except in November when we came) and a nice interior. Props to Joe B. on his Unilocal review recommending the Playboy roll, that was great. I’ve never had sushi come out on a plate that’s on fire! The salad and miso soups were good starters. I told the server halfway through our meal it was my wife’s birthday and she was happy to hear it and brought her a glass of plum wine. I took a sip of it and it was like candy. Smooth and not too sweet, I’m sure it had alcohol but you could not taste it. We also got a special birthday roll from the chef which was I guess part of what a Yum Yum roll would have, I don’t know for sure… but no doubt it was YUM! We also tried several nigiri sushi including the albacore tuna. The albacore tuna was peppered and it was some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. We ordered a second round of that. I would come back here for this alone. Our server’s name was Grace and she was very friendly and made us feel at home. The chef gave us a nice hello even though we were in the back corner of the room far from his area. The service here was excellent. If there’s anything not so good about this place it’s that they are in a strip mall off Grand River where they are the farthest from the main street. You wouldn’t know they are there unless you specifically are looking for them. The other thing is they don’t have a picture menu which I think is helpful for beginner sushi people. We didn’t need it but I still think it helps sell more sushi. I hope word of mouth and Unilocal reviews get this place hopping because they deserve the business and I would love to have them here in Farmington for a very long time. No doubt we will be back here again soon. A hidden gem! Try them out!
