I purchased a remnant from the salesman Jonathon only to have him call after the measurer came to my house to advise that the remnant was too small for my bedroom. He told me that a seam would run completely across the room and that I’d have to pay $ 200 more for a non-remnant of the same design. I brought a blueprint of the room with me at the time of purchase(and measured the room myself), so I demanded a remeasurement because I knew that Jonathon was just trying to get more money than I had agreed to pay. After wasting way too much time arguing the point and refusing to pay more than I had agreed, the remnant was installed in my bedroom and it fit exactly as I had expected(with the only seam being inside a closet and virtually undetectable in any event). However, the bill that was presented on the day of installation was $ 125 more than I was quoted in the showroom(I was quoted $ 500 and made a 50% downpayment of $ 250, only to receive a $ 625 bill from the installers). Long story short — after wasting even more time on the phone with the store on the day of installation and refusing to pay the extra $ 125, I paid what I was initially quoted and am pleased with the installation. The carpet is of good quality, the manager I complained to(Vinny) listened patiently to my concerns before ultimately agreeing that I didn’t have to pay any more than $ 500, and the installers were true professionals. However, Jonathon’s repeated attempts to change our deal left a bad taste in my mouth and caused me to waste well over an hour of time fighting for the price I was initially quoted. I’ve used Montauk before without incident but won’t return. Update: After writing my initial Unilocal review, I received a $ 125 bill from Montauk trying to recoup the money that Vinny told me the store was writing off. I texted my complaint to the phone number that I had previously used to send the manager documents regarding my complaint. At first, I didn’t receive a response. When I sent another text, I was told that the matter was being investigated and that I’d hear back later in the day. I still haven’t heard back and have no idea why the same person who agreed that I didn’t have to pay $ 125 would now claim that an investigation had to be conducted regarding the matter. I am so done with this store.

Remnant selections are the best style and quality of any carpet store in western Suffolk or the Nassau –Suffolk border. My sales rep, Nancy, paid careful attention to the binding color so the finished rug looked even better. I had 2 carpets installed wall to wall. The completed installation showed true craftsmanship. The installers took great pride in their work. Highly recommended

A lot of competitors have tried to squash this family-owned carpet place. and for good reason. We’ve been in the market for new area rugs for quite some time and have gone to all the reputable and not so reputable stores. After a recommendation from a friend, we’ve been wanting to come to Montauk Rug Carpet for some time. We finally had the chance to go today. This place has it all: carpeting of all types, area rugs, runners, custom-sized and bound carpeting, tiles, padding, and an expansive clearance area where you could find some great deals on rugs. Carpets range in prices: from some really good bargains to higher than expected prices, providing a very large selection. I’ve had the privilege to work with Alan Lichtenbaum, who was very helpful in pointing us in the right direction for the rug we wanted. He made this overwhelming carpet warehouse easy to walk through, educating us on carpeting. He may talk fast, but don’t hesitate to stop him and ask him any questions you might have. He would guide us to the appropriate style of carpeting we were looking for, then give us time to look, before coming back unobtrusively to see how we were doing, without trying to do a quick sale. I’d have to say my carpet purchasing experience was very enjoyable.
