What a great little place. The menu is creative, diverse and interesting. The ambiance is welcoming and the staff are friendly. Its Farm to Table which means everything is fresh and locally sourced and the menu and especially the specials are very seasonal. It makes for an interesting experience each time you go. The food is a WOW. We’ve been several times and have yet to be disappointed. The foie gras appetizer and the pork belly app both stood out as well as the beet salad. The duck entrée, the«zoodles» cabanara and the roasted chicken were all dishes we would order again. The desserts are also good. Their signature is a Napoleon but is made with apple slices instead of pastry. It’s creative, fresh and delicious. The bread pudding is also to die for. Things to know about the place: it’s small, it seats about thirty and is on the tight side. It works very well for a couple or groups of 4 – 6 but not so sure I’d go with a larger group. It’s also not a place to bring the kids in my opinion. You also have to have a reservation to get a seat. The chances of walking in and being sat are very slim. Space to wait is also very limited. They have gluten free options but I saw nothing for a vegan and a vegetarian would have a hard time ordering. My only real criticism was about the flatware. They make you keep the same flatware through out the meal. It’s just a pet peeve, I prefer clean flatware for each course and for the quality of food and price I think that’s a reasonable expectation. Speaking of price, the value is incredible. It’s BYO and we have walked out paying anywhere from $ 60 — $ 90 for two of us. That’s for 2 apps, 2 entrees and 1 dessert typically. This is our favorite local eatery and we love that we can go back time and time again and find some familiar offerings and lots of new choices each time. It’s almost like a new experience each time we go.

Food was mediocre at best. I had the grass fed burger with a side of spinach. Burger was over cooked and tasted like burnt grease. The spinach was so salty it was inedible. I don’t think I will be coming back.

I truly cannot get enough of this place. Rob was my server the last couple times that I have been here and he is terrific. He really knows his stuff when it comes to food. Every dish is just as he describes and all were delicious. The presentation of the food is beautiful and then you dig in and wow!!! So good and such fresh ingredients. I have had quite a few dishes on the menu and never been disappointed. My friends and I have recently had the shitake mushroom app, smoked mozzie and persimmon, scallops, the duck, strip steak, pork chop and the apple cider chicken. Every one… perfect. Finished our meal with the deconstructed coconut cheesecake. It was amazing as well. Trust me and give this place a try.

Came for dinner with my brother and his wife(he is a very picky eater) and they loved their meal! This review is for our visit on 9÷11÷2015. We started with a Roasted Beet Salad, Caesar Salad and Fig Bruschetta — plenty for 4 of us to share and nice and fresh! Entrees consisted of Scallops, Monk Fish Piccata, Veal Roulade and a 12oz Garlic Natural NY Strip. Everything came out hot and was plated beautifully. We opted out of desserts and, of course, enjoyed the BYOB refreshments we had brought along. As usual, our server was excellent.

I can barely put into words how much I love this little restaurant. Let’s start with the fact they are farm to table. Everything is fresh and grown/harvested locally. Everything is prepared perfectly. I have the short ribs which came with a parsnip purée. It was the best thing I’ve eaten in a long time. Between my family and I, we tried most of the appetizers, with my favorites being the duck duck duck and the pork belly. I promise you, you will not regret eating anything on this menu. ITISALLDELICIOUS! Another perk of this place: BYOB. Having your favorite wine with this beautifully prepared food is just the perfect way to enjoy this meal.

We did not have a reservation but were seated somewhat quickly around 4:30 on a Saturday night. We wanted to grab a bite before our Christmas Lantern Tour at Allaire State Park. This place came highly recommended so in we went. This little gem of a restaurant is very small, so I highly recommend making a reservation. My mom and I had the braised short rib sandwich with crispy shallots and wedge potatoes and my aunt had the zoodles(I think that was what they were called). The short rib was incredibly tender, melt in your mouth good and my aunt really enjoyed her zoodles exclaiming repeatedly how tasty, healthy and fresh they were. My mom and aunt shared the house made cannoli for dessert and loved it. It’s BYOB, the owner was welcoming and accommodating and the servers were friendly, kind and attentive. This place is a win/win all around. Go there!

I wasn’t going to post a review because Harvest already has so many good reviews and great word of mouth, but after seeing a negative review I felt compelled to respond. I am also used to a «high level» of dining and have eaten at some of the greatest restaurants on the east coast, but I have to say that Harvest is among one of our all time favorites. It’s not just the food that is exceptional, it’s the service too. I wish I knew her name, but the one waitress(tattoos and nice eyebrows) has been so personable and friendly that my wife and I really enjoyed just talking with her about all kinds of things. The food: If you get a chance to try the Moroccan lamb shank, don’t hesitate. Their scallop dish is as good as any I’ve had and you MUST try the Harvest Napoleon for dessert! Yes, the restaurant is small, but it’s warm and inviting and you will be glad you went.

After driving past Harvest many times, my boyfriend and I had been really eager to try it. We finally decided to give it a shot the day after Thanksgiving(obviously healthy food was on our minds!), and I am so glad we did! We ordered off the lunch menu, which mostly consisted of sandwiches, and everything was fresh and excellent. It is farm to table, so all ingredients are seasonal and locally sourced — the chalkboard on the wall noting where everything comes from is a really nice touch. My boyfriend was very impressed with his wagyu burger, as I was with my Bell & Evans chicken sandwich. The prices are as expected for a «farm to table» establishment, but the byo will keep the bill down(I noticed there’s also a liquor store next door!) and the quality and freshness are worth it. I should also note our server was knowledge, friendly, and fast. We cannot wait to return with a bottle of wine for dinner!

The venue is small, but cozy. It’s a BYOB establishment with great service. We had the Pork Belly appetizer, which was delicious. The short ribs were cooked to perfection. I warn those who don’t relish a fatty meat, this is not a meal for you. I, however, enjoyed them greatly. My wife had the monkfish and cleaned her plate. We concluded our dinner with a Mocha Cannoli. It was incredible. I will definitely return.

We were so looking forward to a great dining experience based on all the fabulous reviews and recommendations of Harvest. Sadly, we were not impressed and frankly, we thought the food was average at best. The space is way too small for my comfort level and it appeared that the exhaust fans were not operating properly in the kitchen, as the smell hit us like a brick wall when we first walked in, with light smoke in the air of burnt food. After a while, the smoke started to burn my eyes. Luckily, 20 minutes after being seated, the air conditioning came on and the the smoke started to dissipate. In addition, the front door was broke and every 3 minutes or so, one of the servers had to stop what they were doing, and in our case, taking our order, to close the door, again and again. To start, we ordered the pepper appetizer and the Miso Shrimp. The peppers came out as just that, a bowl of plain, grilled, very hot peppers. The dish should have been served a side dish for 2 or 3 people, not as an appetizer. In addition aside from the 4 bread sticks at the center of the table that were hard as a rock, there was no bread to be found. When we asked the waitress for bread because the peppers were so super hot, she informed us that ‘there was no bread and that they had a very busy lunch and would have to ask.’? Yes, ASK if there was any bread. She then proceeded to bring out 3 slices of day old, stale bread. How does a restaurant not have bread on a Tuesday @ 7pm? We ultimately sent the peppers back because they were so hot and spicy, you couldn’t eat them, let alone with bread. Maybe for some people, this is okay. The Miso Shrimp was just okay as well. Not my favorite. When I ordered the Braised Short Ribs, I was informed that they were out of it already. So, I ended up ordering the Filet Mignon with a Stone Mustard and Shiitake sauce. The dish arrived and it was not appealing to me at all from the look and the smell, but, being adventurous, I decided to dive right in. The meat was completely raw, so I had to send it back. The dish re-arrived very quickly thankfully. Ultimately, I did not like this dish one bit. For me the flavors did not mesh well and it had a sour taste. Honestly, my first impression was it looked like someone vomited on my plate to be blunt. The meat in itself was nice, but the flavors were a bizarre combination. We asked the waitress if there was cheese in the polenta that the meat was slathered in, but she did not know. I think it is very important the the servers know what is in the food he/she is serving. This was very disappointing. My fiancé ordered the Monk Fish and it was very tasty but what we didn’t like was that the fish was floating in a watery, clear soupy type of broth. Again, maybe this is okay for some people. The servers were very attentive and nice. Maybe this review is unfair as we are used to a higher level of dining.

Wow! What a find! Small! I’m sure dinner reservations are a must. We went for lunch. Sat down and pretzel sticks and butter were on the table. They were delicious. Wish there was more! Next we ordered the zucchini noodles with an asparagus pesto to split. It was very good. Not over cooked. Just enough sauce. The entrees we ordered were The short rib sandwich. The bun was perfectly toasted. Plenty of meat. Cooked perfectly! The veggie sandwich was good. Perfectly cooked eggplant. With a smoked mozzarella. The sweet potato wedges were great. Just the right amount of seasoning. Finally we had the tuna tacos. Fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Serrano peppers were fresh. The right amount of cheese and slaw. The only thing I would have liked would be if they heated the corn tortillas. Even toasted on the grillZ they were cold and as soon as you folded to eat the taco it cracked. I ended up eating just the filling. Also I’d have liked a little more sauce. Over all the place was Fresh and amazing. We will def be back!

Amazing! I can’t believe this is in downtown Farmingdale. The food was incredible– fresh and local and the staff and owner were really friendly. We ended up ordering ALL the deserts and they were made same day too. It’s busy so best to make reservations. I can’t wait to go back.

Omg! I can’t believe I never wrote a review for harvest!!! My bf and I had a great experience here. Called ahead on a Wednesday afternoon and got a table for later that evening. Great service and food was out of this world!!! Everything was unique and fresh and our server was helpful in explaining their ingredients and hoe the food was prepared. RECOMMENDTHISPLACEHIGHLY. Only recommendation is that the move into a bigger space to accommodate the demand! :)

4 of us had a wonderful dinner at Harvest last night. We all had something different and I’ll simply say that the plates were quite clean when done. The place is small and can be a bit intimate when full — which seems to be most of the time. Service was delightful and faultless — actually a bit above and beyond that. From our experience and observation, reservations are strongly suggested. As they used to say, «try it, you’ll like it».

All 6 of us had a fabulous dinner here last night. We arrived and were able to park right out front. A few people were eating outside and inside was packed but luckily, we had a reservation. A few of us went right next door to get beer & wine for the table. This is BYOB and next door only has beer or wine. On the table was a jar filled with Pretzel Sticks with butter and an herb style spread. The waitress was great and got us all we needed for our beverages. The menu was filled with lots of farm to table, local, fresh choices. 3 of us had the wonderful tender Pork Chops with crisp & tasty asparagus. The 3 other dinners were Filet Mignon Tips, Scallops & Shrimp, and Cioppino. We all said we would definitely go back. It was a fun and enjoyable evening. The staff and owner were very friendly and attentive. This place is one of the good ones!

Amazing meal! I had the best pork chop I ever had and my wife loved her scallops. High marks for the Caesar salad and beet salad. Waitress Carolyn was wonderful. Be prepared to pay but well worth it. Good luck Dan, pleasure meeting you tonight. Rich & Tracy

Came here for lunch today. The food is absolutely amazing! We had the fig bruschetta followed by a fluke Milanese special and scallops. All wonderfully tasty and being local we were excited to try a new place. We will definitely be back for the food and thank you for bringing this gem to Farmingdale. Service was a bit off today. There was a trainee there who was just lovely and was trying her hardest.(We have all been in that spot at one point and she was very upbeat and doing what she could) After sitting for quite some time without being approached by the actual waitress, Dan who was also very lovely, came out and waited on us. I had to take one star off of my review because quite frankly your waitress seemed as though she wanted to be anyplace else but waiting tables at Harvest.

I’m ecstatic about finding this restaurant hidden in Farmingdale NJ! This is a BYOB farm to table restaurant. The food here is unbelievable. The freshness of the food, menu creativity, flavours and execution makes you want to visit here often compared to the crappy Italian, Japanese, and chain cuisines in the area. The restaurant is small — about 10 – 12 tables, so during the weekends I would imagine you’d need a reservation. I’ve been here twice for lunch and you can easily get a table. It’s décor is rustic and the music is pop but mostly cover songs played by obscure artists, which is cool. The wait staff are friendly and attentive. The best part is the food. They have one menu comprising lunch and dinner. Lunch is served till i think 3:30pm. You can order dinner entrée items for lunch but not the reverse. Since we’ve been here for lunch, I’ll highlight the items we loved. If still available, do get the duck, duck, duck appetizer. It’s duck served 3 ways in a wood platter — smoked, prosciutto, and duck confit with mango chutney served on toast. This is so delicious, my wife and i keep talking about it. We also loved the pork belly small plate and ny strip steak sandwich — both must tries. I tried the waygu burger, which is ok, but it’s very messy and had too many layers which made it tough to eat. The burger tasted good but i didn’t care for the cheese. We’ve also tried the zoodles entrée and magoo glared shrimp appetizer, which were delicious. As for dessert, I’ve only tried the apple napoleon which is refreshing and awesome. I definitely will be frequenting this restaurant often as their menu will change with the seasons. Word of advice, their parking lot is behind the restaurant, so you would need to route yourself to the road behind main street. Can’t wait to come here for dinner or just try the dinner entrées for lunch. From the other reviews, i think i would get the same awesome experience!

The words«just right» are, well, just right for Harvest. The atmosphere, the service, the food – it fits like a glove. The farm-to-table approach is communicated tastefully, without the pretentiousness that seems too often a part of this genre. Simple chalkboards and farm décor enhance the comfort of the small dining area. Their service similarly captures the authenticity of the restaurant. I felt my server was truly part of the team, not a hired hand. She communicated the menu intelligently and made helpful recommendations. My appetizer was the roasted beet salad, savory with some tang from the blue cheese. My entrée was the(St. Pat’s special?) Shepherd’s Pie. With a toasted mashed potato ‘crust’ on top, flavorful peas and melt-in-your-mouth beef, it was divine. If I lived in the area, I could definitely see Harvest becoming a regular stop for me. You should try it.
