I’m so happy to finally find a good Chinese place in the area! We got the combination lo mein, chicken & broccoli, curry chicken and hot and sour soup. All of it was excellent. In particular, I appreciate that the broccoli and other vegetables are cooked perfectly, not too mushy and not too raw. The curry chicken, which is lackluster at so many restaurants, was some of the best I’ve ever had. The soup was maybe not the absolute best, but definitely top-tier. I’m going to try some other things, but if they are good as well, I’m going to upgrade to five stars. Delivery was quick and prices were reasonable. I’m so relieved to find decent Chinese!

We eat here once a week. The Hunan chicken(we always get it no carrots extra spicy) is excellent as well as the egg drop soup and hot and sour soup.

It’s hard looking for good quality Chinese food I remember three years ago it had a different taste, better then now. We’ll from here I got the shrimp and broccoli, shrimp fried rice. Shrimp broccoli was disgusting, I’m sorry but I believe it was spoiled because it tasted like sweaty animal. The shrimp fried rice was better, pretty bland but I could actually bare to eat it. Too many peas and carrot. Shrimp was better then the shrimp broc combo. Waste of my money if I wanted fast fake food, I should of just gone to a drive thru. Rather go to the mall and spend 8 bucks at Cajun grill.

I recently found Hunan Chef, thanks to Unilocal!and I’m quite happy to give it 4 stars. I tend to rate restaurants and cafes based on their«genre» so to speak, so take that as you will. Hunan Chef meets its function(Chinese-American delivery) and does it really well. I have been pleased with everything I got there on two occasions and I’m planning on making it my new go-to for Chinese take-out in the area. The Lo Mein is especially good. They add garlic or something yummy to give it an extra savory kick. The service has always been friendly and prompt, even when we placed an order near closing time. The only reason I took off a star is that in this area, there are many more authentic places that serve very top-notch Chinese food. But out of the places that deliver, this one is great and has a lot of heart to boot.

I typically order take out from here. I like the beef with broccoli. My favorite all time Chinese dish is kung-pao chicken but from this restaurant it just does not do it for me. After I finish my food I can’t say that the flavor made me want to return for more. Also, their egg rolls are greasy.

We got delivery from here. They didn’t give us napkins, utensils, or even mustard sauce. I would have easily forgiven all this if the food was good. The fried rice was bland as were the spring rolls, and the general tso’s chicken was inedible. The pepper steak, the wonton soup, and chicken lo mein were ok but definitely nothing to write home about. Will not be ordering from here again.

This is generally my go-to Chinese place in the area. It has your standard Americanized Chinese food, but they do it well. I especially love their lunch combos which are pretty cheap and are always enough food for 2 meals. Don’t be fooled by the sort of dingy outside appearance, the inside is very clean and tidy and the people who run it(and I assume own it) are very friendly and prompt. This is more of a take out place as there isn’t much seating inside, but it’s fairly easy to park here unlike some other places in FC.

Really decent American-Chinese fare. We had lemon chicken, sesame chicken, and orange chicken(ha ha, yes, you can laugh); all were better than average. The wonton soup was fantastic: flavorful, and the wontons just melted in my mouth. Their delivery was a tad slower than estimated, but they were super polite and apologetic – apparently, there was some kind of mix-up. And that’s fine. Politeness matters a lot to me, especially with delivery, and I was pleased. I’ll be ordering again!

Let’s call this 3.5 stars, rounded up because I like this place. Please don’t confuse this place with Hunan Café(also in Falls Church, but on Broad Street). And please understand that while 3 stars does not look very generous, this is my preferred local Chinese restaurant. The food from this place is pretty good. It’s not Chinese Imperial, which is my main ding against it. If you’ve never had really amazing Chinese, you won’t feel like anything is missing — if I hadn’t, I’d probably rate this place higher. They have the complete, standard Chinese restaurant menu items, including the chicken-corn soup. The prices are about average for this area(a bit higher than in the farther suburbs), and the portions are generous. The staff is extremely friendly, and when you call for delivery, they are usually faster than the ETA they give you(and the food is still hot). One star down for a weird chemical smell in the restaurant. Smells like cleaner of some sort, but really unappetizing.
