Chef Express Chinese Carry Out

Finally came back to this place… after many years. I ordered the Green Beans and Chicken from the lunch menu for $ 8 and it wasn’t bad at all. This leaves the door open for ordering from here again.

The absolute worst delivery service I have ever experienced. Completely unreliable. Do not order from here if you want your food in under 90 minutes.

The delivery could not find my house. I live 5 minutes from the restaurant. I called 10 minutes in and asked the delivery to call me when he got here. 1 hour and 45 mins later still no food. I called and I asked the guy why he delivery man didn’t call me and he told me was scared to call
Because he didn’t want to bother me! After waiting so long I canceled my order and ended up not having a dinner. Never order from here again.

I normally order Chinese food from this place every month or so. Not as much as I used to every two times every two weeks the least. But when I ever did the food that I got was always pretty good. No complaints and I never decided to ever do a review. Today I had Hunan Chicken and the sauce was watery as like they put to much water. I laid my fork on the dish and there was maybe like almost half inch of oil I could see. I was just like ew. It was sort of bland and just ate it because I was just hungry. I would order again but maybe not anything with the brown sauce. The man that always answers is always nice and has my order correct. It was just this day that my food was just not to my liking but I’ll order from them again. Also there hot oil wasn’t hot and it tasted off. Oil was just weird. Could hot oil spoil? Who knows. They get a three from me at the least.

Food was not exceptionally delicious, and the sweet and sour chicken was oddly soggy even without the sauce, but it could have been worse.

Portion sizes are quite generous, prices are reasonable, and service was quick and very friendly. We would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for an easy and delicious meal.

I wasn’t sure what to think based on reviews. But this is the only Chinese place that delivers to my apartment, so I gave it a shot. I was really impressed. I ordered spring rolls– which were huge, crispy, and cheap. I got the General Tso’s shrimp– and was really impressed with the size and quality of the shrimp. The portion was also very generous– with over 10 jumbo shrimp in an order. I got a huge portion of vegetable fried rice. It was as good as any. I’ll definitely order from here again, and I’ll update if anything changes. For reference, I love Americanized Chinese food and have had my share of good and bad. I’d put this in the solidly good category.

Hmmm perhaps I should have read the reviews for this place before ordering… Anyways, I ordered using the Unilocal delivery system and everything is easy and smooth. The food however is another story.
Ordered beef and broccoli and shredded Chicken with White rice and veg fried rice. The veg fried rice was gross. It tasted a little bit old and no flavor at all. The beef and broccoli was really sauced down to the point that it was too much sauce on it taht It tasted awful. They drenched the egg roll in sauce, maybe to save on a cup? But it was too soggy to eat. I don’t recommend this place at all. The egg drop soup was bland and no flavor. I suggest ordering somewhere else.

Okay. Soooo… I never really write these, but this one deserved it.
The guy on the phone was the epitome of adorable. And the delivery was fast.
BUT,
Hands down worst Chinese food I’ve ever experienced.
The Lo Mein had NO sauce (lucky we had something here at the house), and the sides: just, pitiful.
Couldn’t even get through it.
Egg drop soup was okay.
I MIGHT eat there again if THEY paid ME.
Kindness = WIN.
Cooking = FAIL.

I live close to this place; and haven’t ordered from them a while, just because I think the prices they charge compared to the quality of the food is way off. The food is less than desirable as others have mentioned; and if you don’t want to be grossed out don’t go to pick your food spend the extra 3 – 4 bucks and have it delivered.
Our family of four ordered from China Express last night as we were coming back from a day out in the sun and pretty much beat so an easy pick up of Chinese food (my boys really wanted chinese) was the easiest to do.
For 3 dishes and a soup we ordered the order came to $ 32.00 I thought it was expensive. My boys wanted chicken with broccoli, OMG this was the saltest dish I’ve tasted in long time and it was all dark meat covered in some dark sauce. I think they were trying to cover up the taste of bad chicken by bathing it in salt.
As I mentioned I haven’t missed this place as we rarely order from here and I WILL NOT order again. Yeah they are nice and all but the pleasantries does not make up for horrible food. We will stick to NORTH STAR CAFE from now on when we want a Chinese food fix. They are much, much better and way tastier and do not use the whole Morton’s salt shaker for one dish.
China Express you have lost a customer.

While the delivery food is usually good and plentiful, try not to go into the actual shop; it’s scruffy and dirty looking. It might look better if it wasn’t used as an apparent storage area, and also given a scrub down!
Deliveries are usually on time if not early. I was very tired after memorial day weekend and absent mindedly under-​tipped the delivery guy. I usually tip $ 5 for a $ 20 order, but this time gave him $ 2. My mistake, but I thought it was kind of unprofessional of him to ask for a bigger tip! Kind of embarrassing for this to happen on my own doorstep. Why do I feel guilty about it?
Guys your food is good, but clean up your act a bit. I’m less inclined to order from you as much now in fear of being scolded as a bad tipper!

I have had a great experiences here and bad ones too. We no longer order from here but that one great experience makes me wonder if they could make a comeback. Try it for yourself and see what you think!

While the food here isn’t the best, it is definitely good. The guy who answered the phone was friendly and patient (we had a bad connection and had trouble understanding each other) the food got here just when I was expecting it to. I stood up and went to the window thinking, «the food should be here soon,» and sure enough the delivery man was just getting out of his car.
When I got the food it was all hot and all good, except for the BBQ Spare Ribs. They were dry, and unappealing even just looking at them. They tasted okay but not good enough for me to eat more than a couple bites. Since everything else was awesome I would say that maybe I just had a bad experience and I will try it again some other time as ribs are my favorite appetizer.
On Hendrick J.‘s review, they say that the egg rolls are really good, and they aren’t kidding! They were fresh, hot and crispy, possibly some of the best I’ve had in a while. My main dish was sweet and sour chicken, the chicken was really good, and they put the sauce on the side instead of dousing the chicken in it, which kept the batter from being soggy, definitely a big plus, on top of that, they made sure that I had enough sauce for not only the chicken but for everything else that I bought as well.
The prices are really good. You get good proportions for little money. I got about 4 meals worth of food for 25 bucks, which is something you can’t normally do anywhere else. I will definitely being ordering from this establishment again in the future.

By far the worst Chinese food I have EVER HAD (and I have had some pretty awful Chinese take-​out).
a) It took 1hr 45min for the food to arrive (was quoted 50min)
b) All of the food we ordered was cold and/​or gluey by the time it actually made it to our house (we live less than 3mi away).
c) The «meat» dishes were literally inedible (as in couldn’t cut or chew them).
Even if you decide to disregard this review and give this place a shot, consider this a warning: order the Orange Beef and/​or Sesame Chicken at your own risk! I’m not sure what «meat» it’s made with, but I can tell you it didn’t resemble beef or chicken in any way, shape or form.

I’ve been to many Chinese take out places and this is one of my favorites. The ingredients are fresh and the service is fast.
I typically order the veggie lo mien, extra spicy. The veggies are abundant and always fresh. The spicy kick is also a nice touch to the entrée. The General Tso’s Chicken is also very good — crunchy, chewy, meaty, saucy.
Their interior décor isn’t the greatest, but hey, it’s a take out, I’m not there to enjoy the ambiance :)

The Husband and I order from Chef Express more often than I would like to admit. Their food is good and their delivery service is super fast!
The Husband likes the hot and sour soup and their egg rolls. I enjoy their egg drop soup and the chicken with vegetables. They will cook your food to order (I always get mine steamed with no sauce, for example) and they are friendly when they answer the phone and take the order.

Kung Pao chicken was not good, would rather go to Panda Express. Seemed sanitary, but would not get it again.

Wow! What a hatchet job the first reviewer (Donald P.) did. What a shame. We’ve been going there (or getting delivery) 3 to 4 times a year since they’ve opened, which seems like about 10 — 12 years ago. So, after some 30 – 40 visits, I can assure you this place provides high quality, excellent value food.
We’ve never been disappointed with their dishes. We think they have the best lo mein around. Their egg rolls are always crispy and hot. Love the Hot n Sour soup. They do a great job on chicken (my kids’ favorite), and it’s always cooked perfectly in Moo Goo Gai Pan or Hunan Chicken or whatever else.
One of their specialties that we can’t find anywhere else is their «Rice Noodle Singapore Style,» which has a curry flavor and is spicy hot. We actually ask them to make it hotter, and they never go crazy on us.
We live about 2 miles (and about 25 stoplights) away on a hard to find street, so I give them credit for getting the food to our door reasonably fast.
Parking is always pretty good here. Usually there’s a space right in front of the restaurant.
I guess I’m still shaking my head about that one reviewer who came here once, asked for a special order, got it made special ordered his way FAST, and he still trashes the place. Jeez. For people like that you need a «Not Useful» button, ya know?

I couldn’t disagree more with the other review! This is one of my favorite restaurants. The Szechuan bean curd is one of my favorite foods in the world.
It’s pretty ridiculous to say a place sucks, and rate it ONE star, based on a single dish they didn’t like, especially when that was the only gripe…
Also, unlike what this reviewer said, they totally deliver.
