This place lives up to its name. I give it four stars only because I can never leave here spending under 40 $ !!! They really know how to reel you in. Summertime is good for cool t-shirts, beach apparel such as: water shoes, pool toys, towels, folding chairs, sunblock, etc… Theres something for everyone here, the kids are in heaven. Everything from board games to whoopi cushions are available. Last minute birthday presents can be found in abundance with ease here. They even have a huge candy selection. Old school candy can be purchased here. Abba-Zabbas are my favorite! Five below is a cool place, no matter your age!

It is no coincidence that over the past few years, in a trying economy for many, the landscape has been peppered with ‘dollar stores’, and in this case, 5 dollar stores! Even for those of us that still have jobs, if anyone has ever called you a ‘cheap S.O.B.’, i’m sure you already know about this place. When my 7 year old pesters me to buy her a new toy or craft, this is where I usually take her. Christmas and her birthday, i’ll splurge at ‘Toys R Us’, but most other times, I bring her here. They have some quality made ‘LEGO’ knock-offs for 5 $(I got her a cool fire truck and a gnarly spaceship), that would easily cost 30 or 40 dollars if true ‘LEGO’. I found a nice leather case for my BlackBerry Playbook tablet as well, and some good movies for my collection too. And let’s not forget the selection of hard to find, classic gum and candies that many of us loved around the time we landed the first man on the moon, or when Mr. Magoo, The Flintstones, and Popeye captured our imaginations! Bonamo Turkish Taffy, Boyer Mallo Cups, Necco wafers, and my favorite… genuine original 1928 flavor Dubble Bubble gum!

Truth be told, this is the only new store I’ve been to since I stopped reviewing stuff many months ago. Most of my commerce in the last few months has been a lot of repeat business with some usual(lower class) suspects. But on a Friday night I found myself post Metropark dog walking at a need for incense. No I wasn’t listening to Sublime and reliving my crap education from O.U.(had I gone there), it keeps mosquitoes away. And my wife had talked it up quite a bit for months. So I dropped in to see what condition the Chinese imports situation was in. I was at once impressed, but also a bit bored. They had fun Spencer’s type novelties(sans inflatable penises) like disco balls, dorm room garbage cans and blinged out dog food bowls. All for five bucks or less! It was like Marc’s, but the employees weren’t all depressed from being threatened with losing their jobs on a daily basis(believe me, I speak from experience). It was a fun dollar store experience, but slightly more upscale. I bought my coveted smelly sticks as well as a cute five dollar tee shirt. I could have gone ape and bought way more crap in there, but I exhibited restraint. They had tons of cool shirts, candy, Browns swag, a few toys and dvd’s. Totally recommended for minor acquaintance gift buying come xmas. Or your sister in law.
