I heard good reviews of this place so I had high expectations and my expectations were surpassed. I had a great dining experience here. The meal was fairly priced. My group was the only one there on a Sunday evening, so the service was superb. We scarfed down the delicious complimentary pineapple in no time. I’ll be back again the next time I’m craving some good sushi.

I honestly didn’t think I liked sushi but I wanted to try again and my friend insisted that this was the best place she’s even eaten sushi, and I was not disappointed! I went back a few days later and got takeout. Just as all of the other reviews it does look strange on the outside, but definitely don’t let it fool you! The playboy is my favorite!

Sushi Tatsu is the one and ONLY restaurant I visit when I am in the area, doesn’t that say enough? Their sushi is consistent, and their Korean/Chinese cuisine is off the hook!

Ate here last night. Was looking for an all you can eat place, but had a wonderful experience here. The food was excellent, especially the yellowtail. Best gyoza I’ve ever had.

The building is exactly what everyone else expressed in their review. There was absolutely no one in there but us and we had great service. Super clean and a nice open area. Only thing I would change is the fact that their tempura wasn’t crunchy enough… The food was above standard and the service was excellent! We’d go back!

Excellent family owned establishment! Highly recommend, we will be back often! Unilocal just told me that I have to write more, but I think I said what I needed to and now I am just yammering…

This is the only place I go for sushi in this area. It’s locally owned and the staff is very pleasant. My family and I eat in when we can, but we also do take out from here and it’s just as great. I’ve heard they do military discounts, but I never use it. We always order too many specialty rolls. We try different ones each time and they have all been consistent in the taste. I would say that’s bc there’s only one gentleman make them. The specially rolls are what we generally order when we come in and my boys always get veggie or California rolls. Tatsu, Spider, Jalapeño Crunch and volcano are probably our favorite ones. This time I order the seaweed salad and the flavor was excellent. It can be hit and miss at other places. The restaurant looks sketchy on the outside and it never looks busy, but it’s clean inside and is spacious even with only being half of the building. If your looking for good sushi, support this small family establishment. You’ll always have a friendly face here.

I don’t know how or why my review was removed but here’s the truth. I have been here 4 times and every time I got sick except one(when sushi was repeatedly brought to me so rotten so I did not eat any of it). Everyone that has eaten it with me has gotten ill. Makes me wonder. 3 out of 3 visits = food poisoning cannot be a coincidence. If you go here, carefully inspect(smell and touch your sushi to make sure it is not slimy & rotten) before you eat it. visit 1: my tuna rolls(meat) was rotten black as was my salmon. My other 2 rolls had noticeably rotten meat and one had cream cheese that had mold in it. All were taken back. I left 1 hour later, after having given them 3 chances to serve me not rotten meat, hungry. visit 2: gave it another try(due to seeing so many good reviews online — which I now question as genuine). Ate 3 rolls, ended up with food poisoning as well as the person I came with. visit 3: Came for a person’s birthday as they wanted to celebrate it there. We both got food poisoning from sushi. visit 4: Ate there with another person, as they requested to. Big mistake. I got food poisoning. I had not finished my meal and I had taken some home. Someone at home ate it and an hour later they were very sick with food poisoning.

If you are the type of person that worries about the toilet paper in bathrooms, worry no further at Sushi Tatsu! They have an abundance of toilet paper in their classy, well kept bathroom.

We typically order out from here but we wanted to treat my pops to some good sushi. I’m sure he won’t be disappointed as he hasn’t had luck with sushi in the past. So far so good, he liked the miso soup, edamame and the tempura soft shell crab. Sushi is next Pops liked everything, he even used chopsticks!

Too much rice on the sushi rolls. Service was quite shabby. It took a while to get the appetizers. The sushi rolls were too big and stuffed with too much rice. There was not enough fish in the rolls.

Visiting from Texas and stopped by based on reviews. I am happy with our meal. The prices are great and the servings are nice sized. If I come back to Bellville, I’ll come again.

I am newish to eating Sushi. I love it but find it is expensive. One day we were furniture shopping on the East Side and found Sushi Tatsu on Unilocal and stopped in. WOW. I will not officially travel to IL for Sushi. This place was awesome! The food was great, the prices were great and the service was excellent. I found that it was a bit dark inside but who cares? The fresh pineapple boat for dessert was an extra treat.

As my friends, clients, and I are always talking about foodie place… I always tell them don’t be fooled on what it looks like on the outside!!! My bf and I frequent here about once a month. We’ll either dine in or get carry out. This is a small family own businesses. I don’t know the family personally but they are super nice and friendly! I always ask for extra wasabi and ginger and they always give it to me and its a good amount too. Other sushi places are so cheap they don’t give you much at all. I understand that no one eats ginger and wasabi like we do lol. We have tried almost everything on the menu! Literally!!! We do have a few favors. Tatsu roll, dynamite roll, volcano rule, lobster roll, spicy tuna roll, Mexico roll, Jalapeño crunch roll. They’re all good!!! Everything is phenomenal here!!! Friendly service, great food!!! Only down fall is that the bathroom needs some updating. My uncle use to own this building and restaurant whenever it was Hunan Star! Some of the interior remains the same from 10+ years ago. But it doesn’t affect how they make the food

In just about any other major city(DC, Seattle, Chicago), I’d probably give this place a 3.5. That said, I’ve been to almost every sushi place in this area. This place is the best in the area(not much competition here… what’s up with that STL!!!). I’ve travelled the world over and yes, I know sushi. Try a couple salmon, yellow tail, and uni(sea urchin). Seriously, if you don’t like a lot of rice then don’t order a roll. Hardly any place in the world serves rolls with a small amount of rice(some of the sour faced reviewers on here should take notice of that). I also saw a reviewer who mentioned that the seeweed wrapper on her roll was cheery… seriously? Girl, do you Sushi? I agree the place needs a facelift… but honestly, I ain’t comin here for how it looks… especially considering THEREISNOWHEREELSETOGETGOODSUSHI.
