Had a wonderful meal and experience at Mike’s last Saturday night. The restaurant was busy and had a wide variety of customers, from young to old. After a wait of about 15 – 20 minutes, we were seated in a booth in a corner of the restaurant. Our waitress was delightful and attentive. After we asked, she shared her favorites on the menu with us, which was helpful. Ended up with a special, Seafood Mozambique, and a Ribeye with Mushrooms. Each dish was delicious. Couldn’t have asked for better. We will definitely be returning and can’t wait to try some of the other menu items.

yeah… abbbbbsolutely not, worst service ever to have concerns how the owner hires a waitress that my family and i always seem to run to every time for more than 10 years now. the one with short black hair, we never liked the way how she serves us. I only come her once in a blue moon and when she happened to serve us, we were ordering food and we wanted to replace two sides of veggies with a bowl of chowder. She said we couldnt do that at all. It was strange because the other waitresses, without fail, did it no problem and charged us few cents and all. So we pointed it out to her that she happened to be the only one to not let us have the substitution and she still refused. Very strange. We didnt want to be «those kinds of customers» because we really arent, but the way she had said that it couldn’t be done, it sounded really rude and we didnt want to tolerate that. so my sister pointed it out and she LAUGHED. okay lady, thats not exactly how you handle service, do you think you’re at a bar or something? We arent butthurt just because things didnt go our way, but if someone pointed out that you’re rude, it could be a laughter to anyone but dont laugh at a customers face after they felt you’re being rude to them. at least apologize and settle it better. We asked for the manager after that incident and he said that we CANNOT substitute 2 veggies with a chowder, which is completely fine, any idiot can spend another few dollars for a side of chowder. But no person should give that kind of service after my family has been coming through for over 15 – 20 years. Glad to know you, Mike’s.

Visited Mikes on a Saturday night and had the bourbon steak tips. The meal comes with the choice of cup of chowder or salad. Had the chowder and it was very good. They bring buttered bread with garlic salt on it which was nice. The steak tips were cooked just how i ordered them medium. But the entire time I was eating them I wished for more sauce. They only lightly drizzle on the plate the sauce. My only complaint is that they serve instant mashed potatoes which I assume is to save money and it is disappointing since I love mashed potatoes. I also find it weird serving the sides in separate nappy dishes. I feel as though this too might be a way to try to save money by serving less. Overall the atmosphere is nice, I like the small changes to the booths to make them more modern. It can be busy on a Saturday night but you can almost always find a place at the bar. The place is consistent and you know your going to be getting a good meal.

Amazing food and very friendly service! The lobster roll, awesome clam chowder, and a side is the best and for only $ 10 it’s a steal! Definitely will be coming back! Also free garlic bread!!!

Had a date night with the hubby and we were both in the mood for seafood. With summer coming to a fast close we wanted to savor the season with some seafood and Mikes was the place we decided on. We had been to Mikes a few times in the past and we have always been happy with the outcome. We are always happy to walk into a restaurant and be seated immediately(was a bit surprised) and we had an option of a booth or table — so we chose the booth. Our waitress promptly greeted us to take our drink orders — she was all business. Once we ordered she came back lightening fast with our chowder and salad(alas no bread basket was brought — we both were looking for it). I still like their chowder — creamy and a good balance of potatoes versus clams. The hubby was disappointed though as it had no bacon. I also had a house salad with the house made blue cheese dressing — and let me tell you — this dressing is amazing! I would knock down the door for this dressing. For an appetizer(and to fulfill his need for bacon) we ordered bacon wrapped scallops. They came out at the right time as we were just finishing up our chowder. I should say that the table service people who bus the tables were on point to remove empty plates and silverware. The scallops were big and tasty according to the spouse(only had one that was not sandy), Our main entrees came out soon after and I was shocked at my sandwich — the lobster was spilling over the sides of the sandwich! The sandwich came out with a micro– sized bag of Lays chips. It was presented a bit tacky with the bag on the side of the plate — I mean they could do a bit better with the presentation — especially with a $ 20 sandwich(even offering fries would make sense). I will complement the lobster though — the right amount of mayo and was extremely filling — I just could not finish the sandwich at all. My husband ordered surf and turf(filet mignon and Alaskan crab legs). This meal made us scratch our heads — First of all — a set of tools arrived at the table — and one of the items that was received was a pair of red kitchen scissor that still had remnants of food on them from the last users — ewww! When the meal came out the steak was on a separate plate swimming in au juice. The garnish was really weird — some leafy green lettuce and a sad looking slice of red beet — it looked completely out of place on the plate(are pickled beets making a come back?) I won’t comment on the taste or preparing of the meat as I did not eat it – but hubby wasn’t happy with it but refused to say anything the waitress as the following scenario was playing out. The strange twist is with the crab legs — they came out cold! If my husband could immediately pick up these legs and start cracking them open without any discomfort — then you know they had cooled off considerably. Then while he was eating through the legs — he came across one that was caked in seafood stuffing?!? Nothing he had ordered had seafood stuffing in it — so why it was on there was certainly in question. We called out super efficient waitress over and had her examine the mystery stuffing — although she brushed it off as «probably got on the leg when the cook was prepping the stuffing» — the look on her face said it all. She did not look happy to say the least and upon leaving our table — she pivoted right into the kitchen for who knows how long(we hope to discuss the mystery stuffing issue with the cook). At this point my hubby was convinced that these legs had been on someone else’s plate and were being«recycled» on his plate. Now let me state for the record we have NOPROOF that this was the case — but you really have to wonder?!?

Not even sure how this place is still open to be honest the food is fresh out of the freezer under seasoned and the prime rib from 20 years ago that used to be good here is fair at best seems like instead of seasoning all food their package broth for this holds all the salt in the building!

I saw a lobster on the sign and I was sold. Route six seafood joints are abound from the Riv to Chatham, but we were pleasantly surprised by Mike’s. The Strawberry Sangria was ecstatic. I had two with dinner but easily could have had ten. I am not a lush, but this drink makes me want to be one. If I lived close by, I’d be stopping in for happy hour with the blue hairs on the reg. The seafood casserole was delicious. Tender scallops, lobster/crab stuffing, shrimp and haddock, with two sides and soup. I was so stuffed, I couldn’t even finish my date’s dinner. She had the salad with lobster. Generous portion of lobster and fresh greens. She was very happy. Everyone was friendly and attentive and it was very reasonable priced. We will be back!

An inexpensive Lunch Menu is the highlight to dining here. The food is served pretty quick and the service is good overall. I can’t recommend the instant potatoes though. If your looking for the the best value for your dollar, then dine between 11:30 — 3:00 Mon-Fri and you will save $. Parking is easy and the location is convenient. Worth a visit!

This restaurant has been a Fairhaven staple for decades. This is not the place to go to if your friends enjoy fried seafood. But this is the place to go to if you like succulent prime rib, delicious pizzas, seafood right off the boat, and let’s not forget the home made blue cheese dressing(helllllooooo)! Though I’ve been moving from town to town around the greater New Bedford area for most of my life, more often than not I have a birthday dinner at Mike’s restaurant. What you see is what you get and what you get is rather delicious in my opinion. From the clam boil pizza to the double boil lobster special if you’re from Fairhaven and have never been to Mike’s restaurant… there must be something wrong with you. I was happy to know that Melissa Gagne was at the helm making sure everyone was being taken care of properly. I recently went there to celebrate a good review at my job and my fiancé took me there because it’s my favorite restaurant and I have not been there in quite some time. I was happy to know that even though I did not eat there in awhile that the open faced prime rib sandwich was still on point and smothering the small piece of Italian bread which was downing in the au jus sauce. I opted for the side salad with the delicious blue cheese dressing and a nice cold IPA(or two) to wash it down with. My fiancé decided to indulge in the house special which was grilled chicken breast on top of a bed of delicious butternut squash ravioli with carrots, zucchini and a light cream sauce. In this day and age when many things are changing constantly it’s great to know that«if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it». That being said, you must be an out of towner if you are reading this review. Do yourself a favor and visit Mike’s restaurant and bring a healthy appetite. Tell Melissa that Ned sent you. Take it for me because I like food and food taste good!

The food is decent but we didn’t really get what we wanted. My wife and I both ordered rib eye«steak». What we got was roasted prime rib that had been broiled for a minute to make it look grilled. The meat was very fatty like prime rib usually is. If it had been grilled at high temp like we wanted, the fat would’ve melted into the meat and would’ve been good. The garlic mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes. The clam chowder was very good and so was the service. I don’t think we’ll be rushing back. If I come back, I would not order the rib eye steak.

Fly in my Sangria.YUCK. Food wasn’t anything special either. Got the chicken carbonara with ziti. For some reason the ziti was mixed with linguini. Only giving it 3 stars for waitress. Won’t be eating here again. Yuck!

The inside is dark and dated. I would never want to go for a date. Better for a family, seeing there are usually screaming kids in there anyway. The service is terrible. We just started on our salads before the meal and the hostess took away our butter without even asking if we were going to use it. You get a free loaf of bread which is always good and I like that each meal comes with soup or salad. The prime rib is excellent. The pizza is greasy and not good. Final word: I don’t mind going but it is not my first choice

Best prime rib around, hands down! Can’t get their delicious Au jus anywhere either. One thing I would say is they never get the temperature right whether I order medium or medium rare– it always comes out opposite. However its always a HUGE piece and a very tender one at that. I usually get the prime rib sandwich because I love the texture of the roast on top of bread soaked in Au jus. It’s hard to order anything else off the menu every time I go so I end up trying everyone’s plate to make up for it. Tried the baked haddock and you cannot beat the fresh, delicate flakiness of it! So delicious. The crumble on top was a perfect crispy crust and added subtle but great flavor. 3 stars because, although the star of the meal always meets my high expectations, the side dishes are mediocre. Baked is your best bet if you’re going with a potato. Mashed aren’t too bad but they taste almost as if they’re mixed with boxed. I’ve been going here for years and most of the vegetables are canned! Yuck! I like to have a balanced meal and it’s too bad they can’t make the simple change to do fresh veggies! I usually pass and get a side salad instead.

I have not been here since my parents brought me a very, very long time ago. Abner had never been and we were in Fairhaven, so we decided to pop in. We went on a Saturday night and the place was packed, but we got seats at the bar right away and we watched football while we sipped our drinks. Let’s just say that this place looks unchanged since I was last there. Brought back memories for sure. We ordered the buffalo chicken tenders as an appetizer, but it never came. The bartender had to check on it. Then, the appetizer came out with our entrees. I wasn’t that thrilled with the tenders either. I got the margarita pizza, which was the special and that was very good. Abner got the seafood stew and he loved it. It was like a lobster bisque with huge hunks of seafood. He was in heaven! The drinks were good. Abner was happy that they had Chianti, as that’s the only red wine he likes and most restaurants don’t have it.

Mike’s may be my favorite restaurant — ever. Something about the local, unpolished, hole in the wall vibe, and great food that always makes it my family’s top choice. It’s always packed, so plan accordingly. We tend to look at the menu just to look, but I dont know why we even bother — we always get the

Wife and I came here for diiner. We had the buffalo chicken tenders for our appetizer. Was blah. Def had better. I would say it would be safe to assume that the tenders were frozen, processed, and boxed… seeing that our waiter told me that there was no fried foods. I suppose they could have been baked, but they def. tasted and appeared to be frozen. Didn’t taste fresh at all. Clam chowder was good. Prime Rib for entrée was ok and wife’s Baked scallops was good. Service was good. Food overall was simply ok. Nothing really impressive. *It should be noted that there is no fried food here.

Mike’s is a seafood junky’s wettest dream. Top notch entrées, humongous portions and great prices keep addicts coming back for more. On weekend nights, the butt of the line pushes past the entrance. The locals know what’s up. Find them corralled around the bar before the rush arrives. A diversity of New England accents abounds the homey setup. And given the tight quarters and guests-turned-sardines, the service seems as quick as feasibly possible. My GF and I ate here this past Monday night and — as usual — the experience was predominantly fantastic. For $ 25, I was served a succulent prime rib with many stuffed sea scallops, a Caesar salad and a modest cup of clam chowda. And that Mike’s has anchovies is just rémoulade on the proverbial crab cake. She had a pound of Alaskan King Crab Legs and relished splitting the shells down the middle for the deliciousness inside. A small dish containing just enough butter completed the excellence of her meal. The downside to the experience was our appetizer of scallops wrapped in bacon. It was sorely disappointing. Each scallop was cooked well enough, but the bacon enshrouding each piece was way overcooked. And the dish itself was scarred with a crust of charred brown sugar. It was sort of like eating a Warhead, but instead of malic acid, the initial taste could be described as burnt, crispy fat with a bitter, sugary taste and a charcoal finish. So yeah, that was gross. But you should still come here. Trust me.
