Ice Chest Bar & Grille

As a townie, it’s a local spot I frequently go too. But as of late, the food has been so inconsistent. Order two pizzas with both coming out at the same time should look and taste equally the same. However, it never fails that one comes out like the cook completely forget how to make a standard dish. Half the topping just haphazardly on one side and about a quarter inch of cheese other side. It’s disappointing that this happens every single time. I end up leaving half the pizza behind. When you advertise buy one get one for Monday nights, the special should be good. I understand there are bad nights. They happen to everyone but, it shouldn’t be that frequent. I hope they straighten out before they open the giant new side otherwise they won’t be able to stay afloat.

I used to come here at least once a week with my friends months ago, but lately the service in the dining room has declined. Ryan and Hillary on the bar are awesome, but I’d skip the dining area. We’ve had the same waitress in the dining room (Sally) at least 4x and each time she impresses us less and less. It’s almost as if us being there is a huge inconvenience for her. She’s exceptionally impersonation and negligent not to mention just straight up unpleasant. We miss the days of Amanda and other servers that took pride in their jobs. If you can sit at the bar, do so. The dining service is a waste of your time and if you’re good hearted like us, your money.

I usually just go for drinks and appetizers on the deck. Can’t comment on dinner or anything. I love the Portuguese Egg Rolls.

Ok sports fans. If you’ve ever seen spike tv’s «bar rescue», you’ll know that there are a lot of bad bars in this country of ours. Fortunately for the folk of Bristol county, the ice Chest doesn’t appear to need Johnny Taffer’s help. With the spectacular and talented bartender crew of Ryan, Amy and Holly, not to mention the others I haven’t had the pleasure to be served by, I’ve never had a moment of concern over anything. They never miss a beat, serving, selling or cleaning the otherwise immaculate bar. No yelling, no inefficiencies. And, with the redoubtable julie serving tables, no one goes away unfulfilled at the chest. I could go on about the lobster roll and the prime rib specials, but as good as the food and drink is here, the real superstars here are the staff. Go ahead and believe all the other reviews. Suckers! Just follow the people. They’ll tell you where the great places are.

It’s a nice place to go & have a few drinks. But definitely not a great place for dinner. My boyfriend & I have been a few times to eat & the food is never good. Not the best waitstaff either. Drinks are inconsistent and the last two times I ate there, my food was cold.

Hmmm, all the bad reviews were from ladies and one guy from Newton (which is the same thing) and this is a local version of Hooters, think they may be in the wrong place?
This is a biker bar (only decorated tastefully) for the love of God! Don’t expect your wine spritzer to be in a chilled carafe with a whimsical umbrella. Cheap beer, pub grub and all female staff scantily dressed with large breasts. Local name is the «N’ice Chest».

Only if you have to meet someone there who wants to go.

2^nd visit for the Tues special. They offer $ 5 steak night… it comes with mashed potatoes and real good onion rings strips. This was second visit and both times steak wasn’t cooked right. But… it is only $ 5. (ps. Daughter had the steak with salad for a $ 1 more and left off the potatoes/​fried onion rings).
While it is a bar, it is a nice place… clean, etc.
*1^st time I went with a group that had a reservation, but they didn’t have it when we showed up and had to wait along time.

They will ignore you at the bar unless your a regular. They change drink prices every time you turn around but sometimes they have a band there that can make it worth it. See for yourself

The food was good the beer was cold, and I would definitely return if I was treated with a positive welcoming attitude. Now I don’t expect an ass-​kissing or whatever just a «Hey, be right with you». I get it, its busy, I’m a chick with her boyfriend so you probably think you won’t get the great tips you get from guys staring at your boobs. My boyfriend and I literally waited 15 minutes to even be looked at LOL. it was so ridiculous, I wanted to leave but had to stay to see how long it would take to get recognized at the bar. we were just sitting there like fools. Nothing makes me hate a place more than getting the cold shoulder from the get-​go, I mean, what the hell did I do?! All we wanted were some beers and pizza. I don’t work my ass off to spend it at a place that treats me like an inconvenience. Its too bad, cause I would have liked the place since it was right down the road from my boyfriend’s place. oh well. I suppose I’m not their target customer lol.

My boyfriend grew up in Fairhaven so when we are home, we tend to frequent the ice chest. It has that local bar feel to it, as it is packed with fairhaven residents looking to watch the game and have a few beers. There is live music thursday, saturday, and sunday nights and the bands are also local and usually pretty good. However, thursday’s music tends to be more low-​key than Saturday’s lively music. The chest is filled with many single or divorced cougars looking for love and handfuls of down-​to-​earth guys cheering on the red sox/​patriots and sipping sam adams. The beer selection is not too bad for what it is, as they feature local beers. But, if you’re looking to drink craft brews you’re not going to find it here.
The food is totally generic and pretty blah. The ice chest is not a place to go when you want to have a nice dinner (unless you have low standards), but the food pairs well with late night drinks and munchies. The service is not too hot, which is why I gave it three stars. We sat at a table and waited 10 minutes before our waitress greeted us and waited another 15 minutes for a second round. This is your typical «macho man bar» as all the waitresses are well endowed and dress in t-​shirts metaphorically referring to their huge ice «chests». The only thing it’s missing is a area for pole-​dancing. Otherwise, it is an okay place to go on a saturday night in Fairhaven.
