If you like your bagels to more like rolls, this is the place. More like a deli now. If you like your bagels chewy with a nice crust, like they were originally, go to Bagel King

Cute place with a lot of options, but I had a less than great experience here. I ordered a portobello mushroom panini(portobello mushroom, goat cheese, balsamic, olive tapenade) and they forgot to add goat cheese, used a ton of italian dressing instead of balsamic glaze, and whole olives instead of tapenade. I let them know this, but all they did was give me back the same soggy panini with some goat cheese added. Not the end of the world but not great.

I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the people commenting below about how Bagel King has a better bagel than Village Bagel are inexperienced bagel novices. Bagel King bagels are sad, hard, depressing sorry excuses for bagels. Village bagel makes fresh, crisp and fluffy bagels that don’t disappoint. True New Yorkers know good bagels and Village Bagel makes the best bagel in Fairfield county. Pay no attention to the reviews below. Go to village bagels early in the morning on any weekday or weekend and get a delicious, fresh baked fantastic bagel.

Small, very simple corner shop with a little bit more of a creative sandwich menu than some others have. Stopped in on Sunday morning and got 3 sausage/egg/cheese on everything bagels for $ 11 which I thought was fair. They seemed a little disorganized when I walked in but quickly caught up and were friendly when it was finally my turn to order. Sandwiches were made quickly and were delicious. Younger guy behind the counter said I didn’t look old enough to have children at all(I have 3– my oldest is almost 12)…give that kid a raise.

Great spot if you want to be ignored in line, passed over by customers arriving after you, and then wait forever to get your food. Lots of better options close to this place.

**CASHONLY** Located in the Sunoco service station, Village Bagels is premier on-the-go breakfast spot on the Bridgeport/Fairfield border. Their specialty breakfast sandwiches are top notch. Some of my favorites include the Mexican, the Farmer’s, and the Breakfast Burrito. They also sell bagels, obviously, but I’ve never had one. They’re pretty popular nonetheless as they are constantly selling out of favorites like poppyseed, sesame seed, and egg bagels. They also offer a decent selection of Snapple beverages, of which I’m a fan. Counter help is very friendly but this place can get busy at times so please be patient. Also, they only offer counter seating so large parties need not apply. Get that burrito tho…

This was my first time at village bagel. I stopped here because I was in a rush and in the area. I ordered a pumpernickel bagel with light cream cheese and coffee. My husband ordered a garlic bagel with bacon, egg, avocado and some garlic mayo. The manager(I think) who came out to help the girl with the order was quick but not at all friendly. Now on to the bagel… In my opinion, a bagel should be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with awesomeness texture and chew. This bagel did not deliver. I was so disappointed that I didn’t take the time to go to bagel King In Bridgeport. Great bagels there and friendly service.

So we have this coworker from CT who brings in bagels every so often/before a holiday weekend… for $ 20 she’s able to pick up a dozen bagels, a 1lb tub of cream cheese, and a large coffee. Granted these are not Brooklyn bagels but they are darn good. In fact as I write this review I’m tearing up a delicious egg bagel with cream cheese. The bagels are large, fresh and chewy and the cream cheese is so good and so creamy and usually gets used up before the bagels are finished. This is a brilliant way to celebrate Friday and the upcoming weekend…

Their bagels are pretty good, nothing compared to some of the New York City bagels(which are cheaper). Not that much cream cheese either for being so pricy. They have pretty good breakfast sandwiches but again pricy for a bagel shop. They for sure cater more to any girl that walks in too. My one friend always gets hit on by the owner or manager whichever. Granted she doesn’t care but it’s still bad business. I went in with my girlfriend one time as well and another employee took both our orders made sure to get her order exactly correct, proceeded to deliver it to where we were sitting and didn’t even make my food.

I attempted to order via seamless then received a phone call that this was the Westport one and I should try to resubmit my order to Fairfield. I didn’t have time to call around for my bagels so I just emailed seamless to tell them my order was not filled so please credit me. Suddenly a deliveryman comes with my order despite what I was told on the phone. He substituted the Honest Tea I ordered with Snapple without calling me first. He also didn’t seem to understand at first that the order was paid via credit card on Seamless and that I wasn’t going to give him cash. He was cool with that after a minute. The bagels were bleh and cream cheese was so-so. Then much to my surprise another deliveryman arrived about 20 minutes later. When I answered the door and told him I had already received an order, he was visibly angry and stormed off.

Bagels are ok. Really cheap on the cream cheese. Even asking for extra cream cheese, they still don’t get it. Pretty sad looking.

Before Village Bagels there was Lucy’s on blackrock. After Lucy’s burned down, we had to find another place for breakfast sandwiches, Village Bagels was that place. Calling in my bacon, egg and cheese with hot sauce and tomato on a toasted sesame bagel, and arriving at the store, sandwich throbbing with deliciousness within it’s aluminum foil cage is a tradition, or as close to one as I’ve ever gotten. Good food, standard service. Crowded at peak hours, but delicious nonetheless.

Place is expensive. Two dozen bagels, 1 lb. of plain cream cheese, and 0.5 lb. of butter was $ 32.73. Stew Leonard’s bagels are as good or better and the same thing would have cost $ 21.35.

Nice little bagel place. I normally stick with the breakfast sandwiches or wraps, not much of a bagel person. Cream cheeses have large pieces of whatever flavor(e.g. Lox in the lox cream cheese).

looks like a gas station that sells bagels? bagels from here are OK — i think for some reason the village bagels in westport/southport or whatever town it is a few miles down the road are a bit better than these — maybe it’s the water?

About average bagel. Proof that everything in NYC doesn’t cost more… One buttered bagel from Village Bagels is $ 1.75. The same thing in NYC costs $ 1.25.
