I used to take lesson years ago and I knew that I wanted my kids to take lesson to one day. So when my kids were with me, we stopped by and Master Ur told us to come in. I’m glad I took my kids in that day. Now my kids have been taking lessons for about a month, and they love it. Master Ur is great with kids, and he has so much patients. My son is finding a confidences that he didn’t seem to have before. My daughter, who is full of energy all the time, has started to calm down when going through the lessons. If this is just the beginning, I can’t wait to see what happens over the next few months.

I moved to the area from out of state, and have spent months searching for a new TaeKwonDo home. Master Ur is an old school Korean Grand Master. He is wise and patient. He knows when to be strict, and when to be fun. His curriculum is well rounded and gives students a wealth of self-discipline, self-respect, and self-motivation. Even though his studio is small, his heart is huge, his mind is keen, and his wealth of martial arts knowledge is passed to all his students. I have been studying Taekwon Do for years, and-as a black belt student-I can happily say that I am so glad to have have found him and his school!

My son and I visited several martial arts schools in Vallejo, Benicia and Fairfield and we both loved Master Ur’s teaching style. The kids have fun but are also discouraged from misbehaving in a way that’s attentive and appropriate for each kid’s behavior and learning. I’m really impressed by the way he handles all the different age groups that he works with and my son loves going to each of his sessions. I like the fun atmosphere with the encouragement and challenges he gives the kids. My son has been going to this school for approximately 4 months now 2 to 3 times a week and asks me if he could go more often. I highly recommend Master Ur’s Academy.

My son originally went to ATA in Vacaville and the class times(4&5 pm not good for single working mom) were really hard to make and the Masters were not flexible. If you ran late, they kicked the child out of class, no excuses. Even though they were strict, I saw a lot of kids playing around and still getting promoted. At green belt level, we opted for a new school with better hours and a hope for more understanding. Master Ur welcomed my son to his class and even offered other times for him to continue his quest. At 14 my son achieved his Junior Black Belt. At some schools, you pay the price and do the hours to get your belt; THATISNOTTHECASEHERE. Master Ur does not give belts out freely! Don’t get me wrong, students have fun at this school, but you are taught more than just taekwondo. You can have fun, be disciplined, witty and humble all at the same time. These students work hard for their belts. My son is very proud of his black belt, but he never brags or shows off. Sadly, we moved out of town and back to the Bay Area but this school was a major blessing to us. We have been struggling close to a year now to find a school as reputable in the El Cerrito Berkeley area. Master Ur is more than just a teacher, he’s a highly educated man that knows this craft inside & out. So when you consider this school, go in and talk to the man. No good decisions come from watching from the parking lot. Thank you Master Ur — you are an inspiration!

Still searching for a martial arts school for my son. We went to visit this place. It’s just a small gym. We didn’t even went inside because there was hardly any room. We observed from the outside and my son and weren’t impress. I saw only one trainer, must be the owner as well. Bunch of kids playing around. My son wasn’t impress. Nope, not this school.
