Co worker told me about this place since I admitted my Samosa obsession. I was quite disappointed in my visit. Yes, they have fantastic chicken tika malsala. yes, samosas is listed on their menu. No, they don’t have any samosas.(I do recall a while back to check if they had any and they said that they have it on their menu but haven’t made any in months. And to this day they still don’t have samosas, yet is still posted on their menu.) Sodas? They have seven selections from the fountain. Sadly, only three options were available. If I crave Afghan, I’ll just go to the newer Afghan restaurant that recently opened in Vacaville.

This place is still really good. I still only get the Persian Burger b/c it’s not everyday that you can find a halal burger in the surrounding area. I am always tempted to try their chicken tikka masala or their eggplant dish, so I will soon.

Oh Afghan Tandoor, how you pissed me off on New Years Eve. The plan was a few of us having dinner here and then go to the movies. Upon calling them in the daytime asking their hours, we were told they would close at 8pm. This was great because we’d get there at 7pm, dine-in, and head over to the movies. Leaving my house in Vacaville and making my way to Fairfield, I call to place the order so we don’t have to wait too long upon arriving at the restuarant. Well well, the lady who answered said they were closing! It wasn’t even 7pm. I told her that when calling earlier, some guy stated they would close at 8pm. Well, she didn’t care. She re-stated that they were closing and how slow it was and the guy who told me they would close at 8pm already left. Okay fine, I understand– you’re a small business and not making a lot of money so you decide to close early. I respect that. But do not be rude over the phone! Her customer service could have been so much better. I mean, at least show some empathy for the fact that we were already on our way and were told they would be open(liars). I was so ticked off. My money and tip went to Red Robin that night.

Clean, organized, and updated café. I saw part of there back of the house and appeared organized and proper. You eat off of reusable plastic plates and use disposable plastic utensils. $ 6 for a Gyro. $ 10 for good portion of beef chunks, medium side rice, small side fresh salad, 1 whole piece broiled naan bread, and 2 sauces. What stood out for my first time here was good plate presentation, considering it’s a budget conscious café. These types of cafes are my ideal places to eat as they offer simple menu, low to moderate prices, and no need to deal with waiters as you order and run your own food at the cashier.

This was my first time at Afghan Tandoor but based on previous reviews it would appear that prices here have risen while the quality of the food and service have fallen dramatically. There were no lunch specials when I went there on a weekday. Vegetarian lunch platters start at $ 5.99 + tax for one selection on rice, $ 6.99 + tax for two selections. Meat dishes cost more. The restaurant itself is nothing special, a very plain shop in a strip. I ordered the eggplant and spinach — 2 selections and it totaled about $ 7.50 after tax. The food was OK, the rice was a bit oily, and I just didn’t feel that I was getting value for money. You basically get a heap of greasy rice and the guy at the counter very carefully measures out a small portion of your entrée selections. He was so careful not to give too much that I am surprised he didn’t use a scale! The«salad» was a tong-full of lettuce. For $ 7.50 in Fairfield I am accustomed to getting a better deal. Lastly, One of the owner’s buddies/relatives sent me an obnoxious note for my tepid review. If nasty thugs like that frequent/own this place I sure won’t be back and would advise others to avoid the place!

After seeing how long the line was at Chipotle I decided to go here instead and I’m glad that I did. I order today special which consist of rice, curry, veggie, nun and couple of other things. They gave large portions and most importantly were very friendly. Being my first time here they were open about the menu and had no problem with sampling their products.

Friendly service and decent gyro and fries. I’d choose it over fast food but it wasn’t excellent or nearly as good as other places in the south bay. The bathroom is through the kitchen so you can see the state of cleanliness of the kitchen which was pretty good. What i had wasn’t remarkable but the kabobs looked pretty good.

Stopped by with my bestie after a workout sesh for salad and a little protein. I ordered the Daily Special for that day — Tandoor Chicken with a side of spicy sauce, Saffron Rice, Green Salad and choice of side. They ran out of lentils so I was pretty bummed but I ended up getting the spinach. Yum! Came with a drink(iced tea) and warm pita bread which I ate with hummus and cilantro pesto. Deelish! All for about $ 7−8ish bucks with tax. Restaurant is clean and the guy at the counter seemed really friendly and answered any of my food questions. Enjoy! Next to Chipotle and Barnes and Noble.

The food was really good. I tend to stay away from eating meat at places like this because in my experience, the meat is always tough, but the meat here wasn’t. The prices seem pretty high in my opinion, but then again, there aren’t many restaurants that serve this kind of food at night. The vibe in here wasn’t positive. If you’re looking for a bubbly, smiling face and clean tables, go somewhere else, but if you’re looking for great food, and tired of burgers and Mexican joints, this is a refreshing alternative. Sometimes you have to not let people’s attitudes deter you from enjoying great food. This place kind of reminds me of a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but in a strip mall. Weird.

This was my first visit to this establishment and I liked the look, it was clean inside and out and I visited during lunch hour. I love Indian and Persian food and was having a craving. I looked at the menu board and the special for the day and was a little set aback by the prices but somewhat figured this would be the price. Any who, I ordered a two item combo and I choose the lamb curry and chicken tikka Marsala. I assumed that Naan would come with it because any Indian restaurant I go to they automatically bring it to you, well here was not the case. After he boxed my meal up he asked me if I wanted any naan or any chutney and I asked if it came with it and he said no, so i also said no. He asked me what type of dressing for my salad and I felt the salad should be separate I was not going to eat it right away so when I needed to warm it up my salad would be hot and soggy. The portions were small I feel, I had about 4 pieces of chicken which he put over my rice and a small portion of lamb curry, my meal was $ 7.99 plus tax. I could have went to a buffet for that price. I don’t think I will patronize at this place again, thanks Afghan Tandoor for showing me showing me the door!

Clean, well-priced, interesting food. We’ve eaten here several times and haven’t been disappointed yet. Had their curries, vegetable ragout(can’t remember the name) with eggplant, samosas, and lamb dishes so far and haven’t been let down yet. Bottom line, have an open mind, try new stuff(they will let you sample before you commit) As for some of the other reviews… If you’re ordering a burger at a restaurant called«Afghan Tandoor» and you are let down — well I’m not sure what to say to you.

Ate here last night while desperately combing Fairfield for non-chain restaurants. Good, heavy, greasy food of(questionably?) Afghan/Indian/Pakistani origin. The naan was a-ma-zing! The chicken tandoori was supple… mmmm…and the rest of the food was most definitely edible! I mean, What can I say about the only Afghan restaurant in Fairfield, CA? Thank you for existing!

In this day and age, who serves their food in styrofoam? Even for their cold drinks, I mean I kinda understand using it for«to go» but I just don’t get why they would use it for drinks. Anyways, the food wasn’t that great. I wasn’t expecting Indian food by the name but I just wasn’t in the mood for Chipotle. The chicken tandoor was kinda bland, the yellow rice was okay and so was the vegetable entrees. Next time I would have gotten the spicy chicken tikka massala.

Afghan Tandoor is a clean, strip mall restaurant near the Cost Plus World Market across the street(Gateway Blvd) from the Westfield Mall in Fairfield. It has a simple menu, more of a fast food sort rather than a formal restaurant. There is no table service, it is more food court like, where you order at the counter and get your food. They offer Kabobs, marinated and skewered, served with rice, salad and one veggie, from $ 7.99(Chicken) to $ 12.99(combo) and even offer Salmon and Shami kabobs. They also have Karahi(stir fry onions and veggie over rice) with different meats, for $ 7.99 Curries are served with rice and salad and are from $ 5.99(vegetarian) to $ 8.99(any 3 items except lamb shank.) Also Doner Kabobs(like Souvlaki/Gyros, vertically roasted, thinly sliced, in pita), Chicken wrap, Lamb Kabob wrap, Sambosa, Naan. And Persian Burgers(Beef, Turkey, Chicken, Salmon $ 5.99 — $ 6.99) I had the lunch special, which for $ 7.99 is the Tandoori Tiki Chicken, a veggie, salad, basmati rice, a large piece of Naan bread, and a drink. Pretty good deal! Taste was good for the price. Come here if you are nearby or traveling between Sacramento and the Bay Area, and get some Afghan flavors. Coming here is a lot more pleasant and a lot less risky than going to Kandahar. Plus you women won’t need to wear a burka.

I’ve been here 3 so far times and it was awesome. Today… not so much. Parts of my rice was crunchy and the Chicken Tikka Masala was SWEET(did someone pour sugar in it!!!). My lamb was not tender. What gives? Today’s a Saturday!!! Also, there was a different girl working behind the counter today. She didn’t give me as much as the regular girl who I usually see. The previous times I’ve been, I’ve gotten their $ 7.99 Daily Special which consists of Tandoori Chicken, Rice, A Veggie side and naan. The price can’t be beat and it’s always been great. I still like this place and I’ll keep coming back. I won’t let a mediocre experience deter me. I’m glad there’s a place like that here in Fairfield. I want to try the kabobs and persian hamburgers next! :)

overall(8⁄10) Food(8⁄10) Service(7⁄10) — That new lady worker is quite slow at times, but she is getting better. Atmosphere(6⁄10) — Get in and get out. I would eat somewhere else. This place is pretty good for lunch. I suggest the LUNCHSPECIAL. The tandoor chicken is pretty good, and ask for some tikka masala sauce over it! You will not be disappointed. Would I come back? This is a new fast food joint in Fairfield, they serve an Afghani-Indian flavor of food. There curry has indian flavour and the Kabobs have an Afghani touch. Also serves up a variety of Vegitarian dishes. The service is fast and food is yummy, HOT n SPICY. Lunch time can be a bit busy. All in all it is an good location near the webster mall. Highly recomend their spicy chicken with their rice is a good combination.

I saw the sign well before they opened the doors, and I was excited. Shortly after the grand opening we arrived to find a line winding through the building. Despite the long line, it moved pretty quickly. I opted for the lunch special which was $ 4.99 for tandoori chicken, basmati rice and a side of lentils and salad. Everything was fresh and tasty and the portions were huge. I could have eaten it for two meals if I wasn’t such a piggy wiggy(oink). The cashier is a little brisk and business like, but the rest of the staff is a bit friendlier. I will definately return.

I was on my way to Chipotle when I noticed that this place next to it. It just opened yesterday and I had been waiting for it to open! I haven’t had a lot of middle-eastern food so take my review for what it’s worth, but I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I ordered the fairly priced dinner special($ 5.99) which included tandoori chicken, bismati rice, and a choice of a side(lentils, garbanzo, or kidney beans cooked in some sauce). My girlfriend also got the chicken tikka masala entrée with rice and some eggplant and spinach sides. The portions were more than enough and they all were really good, alongside some naan with yogurt and chutney. Aside from the food, the customer service was very friendly and they offered samples of some of their foods. There’s a lot of other foods to try including kabobs, doner sandwiches, and other rice plates. I’m going to have to come again and order the lamb shank. I would definitely recommend trying this new restaurant.
