Good, not great.
Tried this place out awhile back. I like the laid back ambiance and the cashier was friendly. They offer a nice variety of burgers, fries, shakes, and other items. Their burgers and fries had a nice consistency but the flavors were just OK. We didn’t find ourselves wanting to go back and try more. If you’re in the area and in the mood for burgers, it’s a nice place to check out. There are just way too many burger joints in VA that are much much better.

Not worth the money, toppings are skimpy and out of a jar from Safeway, no reason to go there

Best beef and chicken burgers around Fairfax. I went to Elevation Burger and was disappointed and came here to fullfill my burger craving… always tasty and love the nongreasy sandwiches

We’ve been to this location before and have been pleased with the food and service. Not this time. The young man at the register had to take our order twice as he seemed unfamiliar with the computer. When we asked about a 2-​for-​1 coupon he gave us the wrong info, which made me have to re-​order once again. He seemed unfazed. We ordered two shakes which took about 15 minutes to get to our table. Mine was melted down to milk consistency. Slow, disinterested staff. They couldn’t have cared less about the order.

Yea the wait may be a bit, but all good food must take patience! It’s cooked fresh what do people expect?! I was helped by Tori and she was friendly and inviting! I’ve always come across good service here, no one has ever been anything less than nice every visit! The foods great and it’s always nice to eat outside. Stop by (its even got vegetarian options!!!) :)

Best «fast food» burger I’ve had… and trust me, I’ve tried HUNDREDS! What’s keeping me from giving them 5 stars is the service. When they first opened, the service and cleanliness was impeccable. Maybe they’re understaffed or maybe they just don’t care but damn there service has been so crappy the last two times I’ve been. The cleanliness of the place both indoor and outdoor has been downright gross too. One time, my husband and I went and not ONE table was cleaned off indoor AND outdoor. BUT, there burgers are DELICIOUS. We’ve just started calling ahead and getting the food to go. It’s a shame, but at least we can still enjoy their delicious burgers! I get the classic smash and it’s absolutely perfect. Some guy below said Five Guys is better– I definitely disagree.

As the name suggests Smashburger features hamburgers that have been smashed under weight while being cooked. I like their hamburgers; they are nicely cooked and still juicy. Their Smashfries are french fries with olive oil, rosemary, and garlic. Customers order at the counter on entry. They offer a selection of «prebuilt» burgers but also allow customized burgers. There is selection of sides that includes various styles of french fries, onion rings, fried pickles, and a veggie frite. The Smashfries are oily and can be a bit messy if you treat them as finger food. After ordering, they provide you with a number to display at your table. Orders are then delivered to your table. The food is good but nothing to significantly set Smashburger apart from other local burger joints.

Food is great every time I swing by here. Staff is great, manager is always cool. You get tons of choices as far as toppings, buns, how you want your fries, etc. Everything tastes really good but I think the real trick here is to get creative with how they make your sandwich. Have fun with all the options cause not a lotta places in the area offer what these guys offer. Here’s what I get and it’s one of the best burgers I’ve had in the area:

Okay, sure. It’s not that creative of a burger. But I mean, it’s absolutely amazing and doesn’t feel heavy at all after you eat it unlike at some burger places when you go over the top with the toppings. But they have stuff you can’t get anywhere else like Chipotle Buns, Cucumbers, Spinach, Blue Cheese, Goat Cheese, Guacamole. I mean you can put together a mean burger with the options. And the smash fries are great too, but personally I love their fried pickles more. I always share an order with my brother. Tastes just like the delicious fried pickles you’d get at the boardwalk when you go to the beach or when you go to the carnival. The shakes are some of the best I’ve ever had and they give you a ton. Probably a good idea to share. Hope they open more locations around NOVA.

The food here is relatively consistent and delicious BUT THE SERVICE IS BETTER AT A GAS STATION!
I got the Capitol Burger which messy but tasty. The smashfries were covered in oil and were like warm. My chocolate shake was a very good part of the meal once it came.
Stood in line for over 20 minutes before getting to register. Only 3 people working at lunch rush. Shake came out after I was done with meal.
Overall: skip and go to Five Guys

Horribly managed and run… Just got out of there with my Baja Cobb salad… only left out 2 or 3 of the ingredients — at least they remembered the lettuce and the chicken. If this was the first time I probably wouldn’t complain, but this is at least the 3^rd or 4^th time — I’m not more surprised when they get my order right than when they don’t.
The staff is always running around with their hair on fire and I always watch several customers walk back up to the manager asking for the food or items that they ordered but weren’t delivered. Feel bad watching the manager belittle then cook staff in front of customers too when they are running way behind which is every time I go in.
It’s unfortunate since the food is good when you get everything you ordered, and if they weren’t walking distance from my house I probably wouldn’t have gone back. That said, if I end up going back there to eat I am going to be very disappointed with myself. Unfortunate.

Service was great, quick and polite. The flavor of the burger was honestly just ok. I am not really sure what all the talk is about. I ordered a bacon, cheese burger and the burger was on the dry side and lacked flavor. The bacon on the burger itself was on point, as well as the olive oil and rosemary fries. I may go back to try the milkshake, but that’s about it.

I have really fond memories of this place, and whenever I see a GameStop I always get reminded of it. When my friends and I were still in high school we would stop by here after (or during) school and completely pig out. The smashfries are delicious and depending on what you order so are the burger’s. My personal favorites are the mushroom swiss and the bbq bacon and cheddar. Both are 5.99 which is a great deal for the amount of burger you’re getting. There are a lot of seats but my preferred seating area is outside. Once you order they’ll bring it right to you and when you’re done you can just head straight to your car.

Came here because we got coupons in our mail, and so glad that we did. I’d describe this place as smashing good. The burger was very juicy and all the ingredients were fresh (I don’t normally eat fast food, it’s the grease, it gets me) We also got the skinny fries, pair with a soft drink and everything taste heavenly.

First time trying smashburger!
I liked it but I’m not crazy for it. The patty was cooked well but a bit too greasy for me compare to Five Guys. The size was huge! I ordered the buffalo bleu and it didn’t taste much like I was imagining.
The fries is shoe-​string style, made with rosemary garlic. I think this was the best part of the meal!
As for service, really simple ordering and straight forward. The guys were nice and helpful.

Came here on a weekday night after the gym and I was impressed. The staff are great and take time out to help you get acquainted with the menu. We stood there lost so the guy taking our order explained the choices and recommended the most popular items as well. I ended up with the Capitol burger with added jalapeños and the sweet potato fries. My fiancé got the Swiss and the smash fries.
Our orders came out promptly and hot. The burgers were cooked to order and not overly greasy like many places. They were a good size as well.
Let’s say I left there satisfied and a happy customer. I will definitely come back.

Love it! Great burger and finally good service. Took a while to get going there between the cook/​kitchen staff and the cashiers and table delivery, but their burgers are fantastic and getting a lettuce wrapped burger as opposed to a bun is just like second nature to them. Their french fries are good, as well as the veggie option if you don’t want the fries. Love their milkshakes. They take extra care with their shakes and are frequently coming up with new flavors besides the standard flavors. I get a burger from them about once every 2 – 3 weeks, usually to go at lunchtime. Love the choices and will continue to visit this establishment.

Last night I went to Smashburger for the first time. We were promptly assisted at the front and we placed our order for 2 burgers, smashfries and a couple drinks. While waiting for our order someone pulled the fire alarm and we all went outside for about 15 – 20 minutes until firemen came and turned off the alarm. During our wait time, the managers and staff went around apologizing for an inconvenience that they didn’t event cause, handed out coupons for our next visit. When we finally went back in, the manager put in a new order, and comped our meal. They handled the situation very professionally.
Now onto the food. We had the mushroom swiss and avocado club burgers, smashfries. The burgers were good, freshly made and juicy. But there was a lack of savory flavor that we expect from burgers. This is not to say it wasn’t good, but it wasn’t special.
Smashfries: thin cut fries with olive oil, rosemary. I didn’t like the rosemary. It seemed out of place. But they also offer sweet potato fries and regular fries.
It was a good meal, but nothing I would crave and compared to other burger places in the area with the same concept, they don’t take the prize. Elevation burger has much better flavor in their burgers. I’ll probably go back to use the coupons and this time will try a different combo.

Smashburger certainly has a lot to offer in terms of ‘regular’ options for those people interested in rather plain, ranch-​dressing conservative food options, but the important factor is that there exists many other options for those interested in Healthy, clean living vegan lifestyles.
The parking here is ample, which is very important to those who live in this highly congested area, and the interior is simple, clean, and accommodating for the urban lifestyle that it finds itself in.
The food itself finds itself on a limited menu and frankly I find this to be a positive attribute as the options that are available are actually quite wonderful, flavorful, and well executed. The veggie burger here is particularly good, yet still lacking in that missing ‘texture’ component that other veggie burgers fall victim to in terms of texture. (this is easily fixed by first drying out the ingredients via roasting but this is another conversation entirely). Regardless, this is a Colorado company and we expect them to therefore live up to the highly regarded reputation of their state.
I recommend this establishment to those interested in many options for American-​style food yet crave an unseen twist or attribute to their otherwise plainish, American palate. Come here if you’re uninterested in McDonald’s.

All in all– Smashburger is a decent burger joint, though nothing really stood out to me. I’ve been here a few times and sure I will be back, living near it’s proximity whenever I’m not craving Five Guys or any of the other trending burger places.
Let’s see, the interior is trendy with big tv screen menus like a bunch of other places are doing nowadays and the service has all been positive in my experience. However the line sometimes gets long and with one, maybe two people working the cashier register. This can take some time not to mention I think waiting 15 minutes for your food after you order is borderline «sit down» restaurant service wait time but I’ll let it slide.
Now the burgers! They look pretty, juicy, fresh, and they were smashed! Not sure if that’s supposed to add to the flavor, because I couldn’t really tell. I had a regular Smashburger and a bacon avocado one and they both tasted like normal burgers to me, not much of a wow factor but a decent burger that I could fire up on the grill back home. Points for them on having garlic fries, those things are addicting anywhere!
Yea not too sure how I feel about Smashburger other than it being another fish in the burger chain pond. I’d like to try other menu items like the chicken sandwich because it looked pretty good but each time I come, I opt for the burger because that’s the place’s main focus. Until then, my dreams of this being my go to burger joint will still be smashed.
