My sisters were helping me pick out a Christmas gift for my boyfriend and said this store might have what I’m looking for. It has very nice clothing and shoes — it’s a bit expensive, but I didn’t care about the price tag. We walked in and both employees were available to welcome us into the store. However, we were ignored. We didn’t think much of it since we were talking a lot, but then my sisters and I(between 21 – 23 y.o.) immediately noticed an older lady walk in and the 2 employees said«Hello, what can I help you find today?» We then knew that they didn’t take our business seriously because of our age, and we left angry and disappointed. Did they think 3 girls walking into a men’s store were buying for themselves? It’s pretty obvious that we were looking to buy for someone else. I would’ve bought a few pricey items, but their lack of respect has turned 3 customers away, plus our boyfriends. They lost 6 customers in total just because of an error in judgement.

I went here to exchange shoes and was helped by the manager Tom R., who appears to be from the DC location. Not sure why he was here, or why his card says DC. Anyway, he was extremely helpful, found me two pair of the most comfortable work shoes I’ve ever had. He also hooked me up with some cedar shoe trees. He took the time to explain how they work and what they can do to extend the life of my shoes. I think Johnston & Murphy is always hit or miss with whoever happens to be working that day.

I visited this store among many other stores at Fair Oaks Mall the other weekend. I went in expecting to be treated with respect and have friendly customer service. I was extremely wrong. I was being helped by a gentleman who obviously had no customer service skills whatsoever. He was rude, would not make eye contact, and acted like he could care less if he had my business at all. Although I was only helped by this gentleman, there was another employee there who I was hoping would jump in and provide me with some comfort or reassurance in the product and services that Johnston & Murphy offer, but I was wrong again. I hope this isn’t how the whole company operates.
