Fuji Japanese Restaurant

We frequent Fuji for either a quick lunch or a dinner out. The lunch special is a great value, with the choice of several sushi rolls and teriyaki dishes. We particularly enjoy the sunshine roll, dragon roll, and happiness roll. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. Tasty sushi for a good value in Fairbanks!

For the price this restaurant is not worth it. For a 15 dollar roll I expect some fish in the roll. They cut it really thin and when you say crab, I expect crab not fake crab. 20 dollar salmon teriyaki Benito box, small slab of salmon. It’s 20 dollars, most places charge 15 and the portion is huge and delicious. This place is okay if you got no where else to go. I will definitely not come here again or recommended my friends to come here. One good thing about this place is, it Has free WiFi and that’s all

We saw such great reviews for Fuji and decided to give them a try one night. When we entered, there were three other tables and we were seated right next to one of them. I guess they don’t like spacing out. We were asked if we were ready to order before we’d even gotten through the special menu without having even opened the regular menu. We decided on drinks (soda and hot tea) and went back to the menu. When we got our drinks, we’d at least decided on the appetizer — pork Gyoza. My partner took a sip of her tea and pushed it aside. She said it was awful. When the server returned, we exchanged it for another soda and he looked puzzled. Thankfully, he didn’t charge us for another drink. When the Gyoza arrived, they were hot and cooked perfectly with the luscious dipping sauce. We devoured them. We ordered the Crispy & Spicy Roll and two orders of Salmon Sushi. A cup of Miso soup was dropped off. I guess because we got one roll, we got one soup? It didn’t really matter because my partner doesn’t like miso soup so I slurped away as we chatted until I got to a piece of something that didn’t seem right. I plucked it from my mouth and determined it was paper. In my soup. I would bet that the soda machine is close to where the soup is held and a piece of the straw paper fell into the soup vat or into my bowl. Not too alarming but very, very careless and not appetizing at all. We ate the roll and the sushi which were both very good but between the paper bit ordeal and the lack of cleanliness in the bathroom, it was determined that it’s not a super clean place. And when you’re talking about eating raw food, it should be super clean.

My husband and I have been to a few sushi places around town and until now, have been very disappointed. Not only were the special sushi rolls here reasonably priced, but they were delicious. We also has the lunch hibachi, and while it tasted good, the meat portions were quite small. When it comes down to it, we will return here for our sushi needs.

I was in Fairbanks for a business trip and came here for lunch. I was pleased to see all of the different lunch specials. I was particularly excited about all the different sushi roll (maki combos) you could make. From my experience with sushi joints in Anchorage, I feel that this is pretty rare; the few places that I have been to that have sushi combos have the rolls pre-​selected for you. Here, you could choose 2 or 3 of the basic, or combine with the special rolls. The rolls themselves are pretty small, I was pretty hungry and had 3 of the basis rolls for $ 13.95 and was happy with both the portion and the tastiness of the rolls.
Once I ordered, the food came quickly; but they were a little slow to take my initial order and to fill my order. But I would still recommend this place for the good portions, prices, and food!

Good atmosphere, portions, freshness and service. I had the sashimi dinner and enjoyed it with a local beer. It was recommended by a local Japanese food lover. Wasn’t disappointed.

The shrimp tempura was excellent. It all went downhill from there. The shrimp and steak hibachi and fried rice was well below average. The chicken hibachi and kids meals were gross. $ 11 kids meals too. I mean give me a break. Dropped $ 100 on two adult hibachi and 4 kids meals. I should have gone to another Japanese restaurant in Fairbanks instead. This place is a ripoff price wise. Just order the shrimp tempura appetizers and leave to go eat somewhere else after. You will thank me later.

Always excellent food! If you haven’t tried Fuji your missing out on excellent Sushi!

O.K. this place really hits the spot when I’m craving sushi in Fairbanks. Its been more than a few times since I last commented & this time my husband & I tried the Sushi Boat for two «outstanding». Would recommend for a couple’s night out. Love Fuji’s.

Good sushi, decent prices, but inconsistent experiences. Normally a great experience however, it can vary. The fact that they ran out of chicken for their hibachi meals (it’s noon on a Wednesday) today serves as a perfect example.

Amazing food. Love the hibachi steak. Me and my wife have been here a bunch of times and always leave full and happy.

Best sushi restaurant in Fairbanks! Friendly and efficient staff always remembers us and is happy to see us. Everything on the menu is so so good and they always have different specials. Would recommend whole heartedly.

Food is great. Service is even better. My family and I love coming here. Great food at reasonable pricing. We are true creatures of habit and stick to our normal items, but there are tons of items on their menu that fits all tastes.

Food is so fresh and the server is really friendly most important so yummy. Totally recommend :)

They have a lot of options for specialty rolls, but compared to other Sushi restaurants, it was not that great. Perhaps it’s because I am from Seattle or the fact that I am Japanese, but I was not too impressed. Nice try for Fairbanks.
