The Cottage at Perry Creek

We just spent a lovely weekend in Fairplay and had the privilege of staying at this cute little cottage. It feels very homey and comfortable and has everything you could possibly need. I always say the most important thing in a hotel/b&b is the bed. Their king sized bed did not disappoint, it was very comfy and had awesome pillows. There were even little chocolates left on the nightstand. The best part about this place is the location — literally right next door to Perry Creek Winery (try their Zinman) and Windwalker (we like their Sierra Sunset wine). Make sure to pack carrots and apples because they have two beautiful horses you can feed in the early morning. If you are looking for something luxurious this isn’t the place — but if you want privacy and relaxation it is perfect. I felt it was a bit overpriced at $ 179 (196 after taxes). but I suppose thats because we booked for just one night and on a Saturday. Overall a good choice for anyone looking for a romantic weekend away.

Pardon me while I tell a story. We have friends in the process of building a house in the area. They graciously invited a group of people to enjoy the wonderful river and beautiful surroundings. We were invited to camp at the property but I am a princess and need amenities. Hubby found this cottage on the web. It exponentially exceeded my expectations. The one bedroom cottage has a full kitchen and backyard seating area. It is just lovely. The owner Nancy lives in the front house and her special touches are what impressed me the most. Before we arrived she sent a list of restaurants and wineries to visit. The cottage is stocked with treats, coffee, dishes, spices, magazines and nicely decorated. She provides far more than any other rental of it’s type we have stayed at. It was so inviting and comfortable. My delight on entering reminded my of visits thankfully paid by my employer to the Four Seasons in Punta Mita, Mexico and The Rome Hilton on the hill. I am not comparing the amenities just the feeling of delight on having the opportunity to stay at an exceptional place. We could have paid $ 99 a night for 2 nights but stayed 1 night for $ 169. A great value. My highest recommendation.
