My favorite Thai restaurant. Great food, nice décor and service. Portions are very good. We like to order Amazing Lover(prawns, chicken, vegetables)!and Purple Heart(eggplant w red curry, ground chicken or turkey) off the full menu. Very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Nice staff. Only thing I noticed in daylight is their carpet sure needs some attention.

Just went here for lunch. Only had a sweet and sour soup but it was really good. Everyone else seemed to have good food on their plates and I enjoyed the ambiance and service

Reasonable prices, food comes out super quick and waiters check on you often. Couldn’t have a better experience! Avoid Thai Orchid on Sunrise and come to this place!

10 stars! Our go-to Thai restaurant when we need a break from cooking. I cannot recommend them enough. I love mostly everything I’ve ordered from here. They are well known for their curry, they have pumpkin curry! My favorite is the Thai tea, Thai basil with chicken, fried rice and drunken noodles! They make it the best! Our favorite waitress moved out of state recently, we were so sad to see her go after seeing her friendly face for the last couple years. We will still continue to go here, the food and service is still just about the same.

Had my husband dash over here to grab some takeout for dinner, as I’ve been craving some pad see ew. I got mine with tofu and egg and my husband got the same thing, but with chicken as his protein. I was impressed to see that they use only white meat chicken(both in the pad see ew and the order of fried rice we got). The food was flavorful enough to not need any soy-sauce, and I’d definitely return here again and probably try the pad thai. I’m still looking for the best pad see ew in the area, and while this was GOOD, it was not THEBEST. I’ll keep looking :)

I ordered the Tom Yum soup and it was simply hot coconut milk with mushrooms and that’s it, nothing else in the soup. Then I ordered the DYI Thai wrap, which I had no idea what it was like before ordering and it would have been nice if the waiter had explained it before I ordered it. It was really not much at all besides peanuts with some spinach salad in a wrap which fell apart as you tried to eat it. I told the waitress this was not good at all and she did not really care. Had she at least not charged me for it, I would have gone back but I don’t think I will be returning to this restaurant. My boyfriend ordered Pad See Ew and he was happy with it.

This is my favorite Thai Restaurant! I always get spicy green beans! Love their Hot and sour soup, Spicy beef salad is fresh and well spicy! Wife loves there curries.. . Green Tea Ice Cream on a fried banana oh who says no to that :) Their customer service is always excellent and their food has always been consistently excellent! Ps The banana dessert comes with vanilla you have to ask for green tea instead if that sounded good to you :) Gosh I’m hungry now! Going to have some take out at Takieng!

my wife and I were interested in going out to thai food and were pleasantly surprised when we found this great restaurant. We had spicy fish which was prepared exquisitely with great attention to the fish itself. My drunken noodles were delicately prepared and you could taste the freshness of the ingredients. Overall I would have to say this is my favorite Thai restaurant in Sacramento and probably would include Oakland as well.

Came with my office for a bday lunch, tried garlic pepper chicken, it was simply okay. Went back for a second bday with the crew again and not saying the food is bad just not great. Had to add alot of chili sauce to my chicken for taste. Ice cream i will say is great coconut is amazing and service is great.

Tried this place twice. 1st experience was a pickup and got the($ 11.95) Purple heart curry. Wasn’t impressed, not as colorful as one of the pics, or that good overall. Chicken was ground like a larb as opposed to minced if my memory is correct. Regardless, it didn’t stand out. 2nd time dined in and ordered the stuffed chicken wings,($ 8.95) as an appetizer, and was pleased with the density of the noodles and chicken stuffing and the non breaded exterior. Dipping sauce was good but loaded with sliced cucumbers and red onions. Good vegetables and great knife skills were displayed but the lack of thai chili dipping sauce begged for another order of dipping sauce, which again came packed with vegetables. No big deal, it worked out in the end, and the sliced and diced vegetables were a bonus treat. Entertainment coupon has a buy one get one free coupon for an entrée, value $ 8.00. 3.5 star –Pineapple chicken curry(mild)($ 7.95), and made it very clear that mild was the desired spice and was told they can tone it down. They slightly did that, but pre-made curry usually is difficult to tone down too much without changing or ruining the flavor of the dish. It came out medium. The dish was popping out with great flavors so it’s not a total bust but for picky eaters who only like mild it was too spicy to eat too much without going through multiple glasses of water. Rice was good but had to be ordered separately($ 1.50 per order), which is kind of lame. Unfortunately most Thai places seem to follow the same policy regarding no rice with their entrees, except on their lunch specials. 5 star — Pra Ram Chicken($ 9.95) was legit! Not too rich, not spicy at all and the cabbage and other vegetables and chicken were cooked perfectly. I will order this dish again. Portion was filling and the taste was as good as I have had. Service and politeness was beyond expectations, including the boxing and water fillups. This place is a keeper and has a well deserved 4 star rating. I would bump them up to a 5 star if they served rice with the meal at no add’l charge and they actually served their pineapple curry as mild when requested. I realize most Thai restaurants make their curry dishes ahead of time and in Thailand most people are raised with spicy food, however most of their customers are American and aren’t into spicy as much. They actually chuckle and laugh at how wimpy we are when it comes to spice. I prefer medium spice but the people I eat out with usually like mild and give me the hard time for spicier food but I tell them it will be «toned down» to get them to go out to Thai places with me, LOL! Looking forward to trying their thai dumplings, egg rolls and chicken satay, along with the Tom Kha soup and Massaman Gai or pumpkin or mango curry. Love that stuff. Thanks for a good meal at a great price Takieng Thai!

I’ve been going to this place for almost a decade now. The service is always prompt and the food is consistent. You can’t beat their lunch prices! They also do delivery so long as you are within 4 miles and your order is at least $ 30. If you love peanut sauce, then you will love the Pra Ram! It’s filled with veggies and the meat of your choice.

Last time I went my drunken noodles were a bit too sweet. Still good service and the dish was tasty. Previous review: My favorite thai restaurant of all time. You can never go wrong here! I’ve been going to this restaurant for at least 10 years now and never have I been dissatisfied. The food is always perfectly cooked with the right amount of spices and balances of sweet, spicy&sour. Friendly service and beautiful interior decorations. Definitely recommend.

Totally stumbled into this place because my mom and I had a huge craving for Thai food while out doing errands. This place is in a dinky little strip mall, but when you walk in its so beautiful inside. We both were caught off guard! The lunch menu was super cheap at 8 dollars for an entire including salad and soup! The hot and sour soup comes with tofu and mushrooms and this delicious tangy broth. Even an iceberg lettuce salad had an amazing homemade sauce that was so good we considered licking the plates after. We both got curries, I got the pineapple curry and she got the red curry. Both were huge portions with tons of chicken and fresh veggies. The sauce was creamy and had a great kick to it. For two meals, a glass of wine, a thai iced coffee we only spent 30 dollars including tip. Such an amazing deal! I will be coming back here again, very soon!

That’s the only thing I don’t like. :))

We were in the Rancho Cordova area. So this place came up in the restaurant search. It is tucked away in a small strip mall. The décor inside is beautiful with lots of artifacts from Thailand. I wish I could say the food was amazing too. But. What we ordered: — 1) Chicken Satay with peanut sauce– was pretty good. 5 satay sticks came with the order. Peanut sauce really complimented the Chicken. 2) Eggplant Stir Fry with Chicken — Eggplants tasted great, everything else in the dish was bad. 3) Chicken Fried Rice(non-spicy one) — was good, but had less vegetables in it. Would need another stir-fry/curry to go with it.

Update review for this, but still 5 stars! I love the food I get from here. Yeah, somehow I *still* have not actually been in the restaurant but have been continuing to order food from here for delivery. So few places deliver food in my area(its mostly pizza and chinese food only which gets pretty boring). Others may feel this is only a 4 star place at most but I love it and really LOVE that they deliver food to me. I am probably giving an extra star just for the fact that its above average food that I can order delivered to my house. This place is not that cheap but not too expensive either. I would say its from $ 8 to $ 14 per item depending on what it is(they charge more for seafood mostly). Well earlier tonight I ordered a ton. I do have leftovers but the food reheats just fine so its all good. Some is seafood stuff so I’ll try to eat it soon. Everything was really yummy! I got a few new things that I never had from here before and then some stuff I had had a few times and knew I liked. I got the Tom Kha soup with prawns. That was sort of a mistake on my part but it was a happy accident since it was delicious. It looks slightly red in color so at first I thought it would be too spicy but the color is from tomato I think(actually I have no idea). It did have tomatoes in it along with mushrooms, prawns(and the other flavoring stuff that you can’t really eat like lemongrass and ginger). The soup was flavorful and just amazing. I’m not even a soup person! But it was great. I am not going to delve into everything I got as I really ordered quite a bit! All the appetizers I got were great but I liked the pot stickers the best. They offer them either fried or steamed but I’m a sucker for fried so opted for that. Yummy and not too greasy at all. The sauce was kind of sweet though; I may have liked it a bit more savory really. I ordered Pad Thai too as that is just a basic Thai item I always get. Its decent and good. It comes with tofu and chicken typically. I do not know if they offer vegetarian options at all, but you can ask them. Thai food has a tendency to have fish sauce in it, so definitely ask even for vegetable/tofu dishes. For delivery food, this is definitely the best in my area really. I may try some other Thai places here that deliver though(called one but driver was off duty). There is probably a delivery charge. Also you have to order a minimum of $ 30. They are pretty fast and I think I got my food in about 30 minutes(maybe 40?). They won’t deliver if you are too far from them though(I think its within 5 miles but you can ask). They take credit cards. I always pay that way. No issues at all with it. Editing to add: It is actually quite unlikely that I will go to the physical restaurant. Why? Well because there is a really good(a bit better than this one) Thai restaurant that is much closer to my house. That closer one does not deliver unfortunately.

I had been here three to four times before in the past and thought it was probably the best Thai food in Fair Oaks. My friend and I came here recently on a Friday night and split the chicken satay, pineapple curry, and sticky rice with mango. I thought you couldn’t go wrong with chicken satay, especially from a restaurant that does such good work on most other things, but I was wrong. It was rubbery and horrible. We didn’t even eat half of it. The pineapple curry, on the other hand, was freaking amazing. I didn’t think anyone could top my favorite pineapple curry in Folsom but, wrong again. This was the best I’ve ever had. I don’t understand how the chicken could be so bad in one dish and so amazing in another, but that’s what happened. Plus, we asked for it spicy, and– yeah, I’m gonna go there. We’re both white, and they still made it super spicy! That never happens. Usually when I ask for spicy food at Thai places, the waitress will just laugh and walk away saying something like, «Spicy, SURE,» in the most sarcastic voice I’ve ever heard, and then bring back curry that isn’t much spicier than Campbell’s chicken noodle soup. But not here. We asked for spice, and then asked for extra napkins because our noses were running from the spice. That’s how you know it’s legit. To complete the flip-flop experience, the sticky rice with mango was just okay. The rice wasn’t very sweet, and the mango wasn’t quite ripe. My friend, on the other hand, who had never had it before, became a total believer, and vowed to order it from now on. All in all, I’ve decided that this place puts too much effort into their curry to completely care about anything else, and I’m totally cool with that, because curry really is all that matters in life. The service was outstanding. They didn’t even charge us extra for getting half white and half brown rice. Also, I don’t normally pay a ton of attention to décor, but it’s really cute in here, and super clean.

A-OK just about describes this place. Some of the food was great, some of it was bad. the service was okay, the ambience was eh, and the price was kind of out of control people! Location: Located in Fair Oaks, this place is in a bit of a run down shopping center on a hill. it could have been worse, but it wasn’t in the best area of Fair Oaks. The restaurant itself was older seeming and a bit cluttered with decorations and décor. the tables were large so plenty of room to order family style, but overall the seating was kind of crammed. The service: it could have been better. A solid 2 out of 5, we were sat promptly, but it took time before we got our order in. we were also ignored after being served our food, and i was never offered a water refill. We also had to flag down a waitress to get our bill, something i never like to do. The food was OKAY. We ordered the Chicken Satay which was okay. the chicken was a bit dry, the sauce lacking in flavor. the rolled shrimp, was okay, kind of overwhelming in terms of wrapping, but it wasn’t bad. The Pad Thai was okay, nothing great, nothing noteworthy. the noodles were pretty stuck together, a sign of being overcooked. the chicken was a bit dry and i could have used a bit more flavor. The drunken Noodles was pretty bland, kind of defeating the purpose of its name. We ordered the duck off of the chefs specialty menu, which was not worth it. the duck was tough, and there was simply not enough meat on the dish. The mango sticky rice was actually good here, so we left with a good taste in our mouth, but i would have been very disappointed otherwise. I definitely have had better, and would not return here or recommend it to anyone. I’m sorry but I am almost positive all the good reviews to this place are by the local regulars that have not experienced better thai, and that may have ordered other dishes than the ones i tried. If you can’t make a good pad thai, then its not worth returning. ALSO the ALMOSTNINETYDOLLAR check at the end sealed the deal that we will not be returning. i have ordered the same amount of food elsewhere for half of the cost.
