Summary: horrible food, lousy service & painfully loud atmosphere all at double the price of any place else in the area. Details: Recently four of us went here for a celebration dinner. It’s a smaller house converted to a restaurant. We were seated in a room with three other tables of four. They were so loud we literally had to scream at the waitress to order. Service was slow, it took 30 minutes to get some bread and place our order. The bread was hot, but obviously a small loaf of frozen bread /dough that was heated /baked there. We waited 30 to 45 minutes for our meal to arrive, suffering the entire time from the painful noise in the small room. We each ordered classic Italian dishes — chicken parmigiana, gnocchi, a veal pasta dish and a seafood pasta dish. All were very bland, tasteless, and watery. The chicken was the worst as it tasted old and freezer burnt. Thankfully, we brought a nice bottle of wine with us — it’s a BYOB. We will NEVEREVER return. I’d much rather microwave a cheap, store-bought frozen pasta and eat it at home than throw money away by coming here.

Was at a dinner party there and it was 930 and the chef came up to everyone and said hey everyone your time is up, and made us leave. We had a so-so and over priced dinner it was so rude, we came down and everyone was still eating dinner. Will not come back.

Family run byob. Bit overpriced for good to fair Italian. Cold, cramped dining room:( Won’t be back.

Fantastic dinner and cannot wait to go back! We had a Mediterranean chicken plate and chicken piccata that were incredible and the dessert was to die for.

Had dinner on Friday night at Allegria, one of our favorite local spots. The owner is very friendly and always remembers us. I wanted to try something different this time but couldn’t pass up the Cappellini Adriatico, an incredible pasta and seafood dish in a blush sauce. My wife requested a pasta dish that came with salmon and asked if they could use tilapia instead and they were happy to oblige. The food was wonderful as always and the entire staff very friendly. Can’t wait for our next trip back!!!

Was that supposed to be prosciutto? Maybe, the really cheap imitation stuff… Chicken parm was soggy, mozzarella was not fresh, tasted cheap and odd. Pasta was over cooked and flavorless.

I really loved my meal at Allegria. It was very noisy at first, but when the crowd started to clear out, we were able to enjoy conversation with friends. The service was good. The price was good. We will definitely return.

Wonderful Experience! My husband and I tried Allegria two times and the food, service and ambiance was wonderful. We just returned from a trip to Italy and found the food to be fresh, delicious and authentic. It is definitely not«commercially Italian»(like the big Italian restaurant a short distance away) — it is small, intimate and genuine. What a treat to have a special restaurant like this in the Exton area. A wonderful addition is that this restaurant is a BYOB. If you like good wine and don’t like to be subjected to the high cost of mediocre wine, you can bring your own favorite wine. Salute! Enjoy.

Allegria in Exton is our favorite Italian. As a matter of fact, we don’t go anywhere else anymore for it. The owners are warm and welcoming but it is for the fabulous food that we drive by many other Italian restaurants to dine at Allegria. I personally love the risotto and the gnocchis… but that is just me. My family chooses their fish and other pastas. Don’t miss the mussel appetizer and their homemade desserts!

On a February night, I dined here for the first time. Brr, it was cold inside, probably 60 degrees. Not a propitious start. Entrees were pricey: $ 19 for spaghetti and sausage with mushrooms, for example. The portion size was on the smallish side(which I never understand since pasta is so inexpensive) with about 3 oz. of sausage. The dish tasted good, but it wasn’t the best I’ve had. Chicken parmigiana at $ 21 was also good, but not great. I did like the warm bread we were served, but at these prices a house salad should have been included with dinner. There are plenty of other Italian places around which are better deals, and I see no reason to return to Allegria.

We have been going to Allegria for years and we love it. It is not a chain Italian restaurant. More like a snap shot of a local place in a small town in Italy. Food is good to very good, it is a BYOB which we seek, staff and owners are very friendly and accommodating, atmosphere is quaint, etc. we highly recommend it!

We have been to this restaurant several times and are real fans of both the food and the service. It is family run and the pasta is home made. It is not a 5 star restaurant only because it is byob and the seating is limited. But if you are looking for a high quality Italian restaurant, you should give Allegria a try. You will not be disappointed.

I am mad at myself for not speaking up as I normally would but it was a long day and I didn’t feel like going through the extra aggravation. We started with eggplant rollitini which was lacking flavor and texture. It was mushy, luke warm and the marinara sauce didn’t have much flavor. For dinner I had a pasta dish with scallops, shrimp and crab meat for over twenty bucks. This sounded perfect. The scallops tasted water logged like they might have been taken from the freezer. It would have been nice if these were pan seared vs. what tasted and appeared boiled. I struggled to find more than one or two flaky pieces of crabmeat. For the price I would hope to have at least a few nice florets of crab. The shrimp were small and there were only 3(and one was butterflied to make up two of the pieces) and they barely had any flavor. My husbands homemade lasagna was just ok. The pasta was homemade but they there were fettuccine noodles. The bread tasted like it also came from the freezer and was defrosted then throw in the oven. This is the second time we have been here and see no reason to go back. It is expensive and the quality, taste and freshness of dinner was lacking, in my opinion.

Had dinner there the other night, cute place. I started with the calamari, which was a little bland then had the capellini which was very good. The service was o.k. but a bit slow. We thought it was unusual that we were never offered any thing to drink. I know it was a BYOB but since we did not bring a bottle I thought they would of offered soda or tea they just served water with our dinner. We may go back again.

Average food and very over priced. Seemed like a hang out for retired people. The next table finished their meal and started yelling to each other about their intestinal issues! Unbelievable… They get one star for desert. It lived up to the recommendation. Our server and host, Rebecca? Was amazing. She made the evening bright. We had reservations to return on the next saturday with friends but cancelled. Not worth the price.

An amazing little restaurant that serves freshly made Italian food. My fiancée always goes for the specials which have been delicious everytime! I have a hard time order anything other than the capellini with seafood because it is heaven on a plate. Off the menu I would also recommend the eggplant parmesan dish & for a salad… the caprese. Save room for dessert because they are all homemade & delicious. It is BYOB and you will need to make reservations.
