So I looked up best filipino restaurant and this place had the most star. I’ve been craving for filipino food and we drove here all the way from town and went through all the traffic! Just to find out this place is close for renovation or whatever reason they might have! They should update Unilocal that they are current close so people’s time do not get wasted and gas! So I hope to actually have a good review when this place actually opens up and I do decide to drive all the way here in ewa beach. This review is for the inconvenience and the lack of information updates they provided in Unilocal

What Happened? We’ve been waiting for this restaurant to reopen, formerly Pinoy Grill. We were greeted by Al, owner, taking front and center of the operation. Water and menus were brought out quickly. As we tried to decide what to order I found myself taking in the new décor. Really didn’t know what to expect. We ordered the pancit canton, shrimp sinigang and igado. The pancit canton came. I was thinking this would be too dry like it has been at most places. This was not the case. Savory with fresh veges and shrimp and pork. It is one of the best pancit cantons I’ve had in so long. Wow! Next came the sinigang. Ordering this before the broth was clear. Not this one. The broth is murky as muddy water and yet, so good. Additional seasoning was added to create more depth and taste. Very nice. Now, the igado(liver), I’m not a liver fan myself but this I could eat. and I did. Delicious. Al came by introduced himself. We talked about the food we ordered. I said the food tasted much better this time than before(when it was Pinoy Grill), what happened? He said he’s cooking the food like he does at home using fresh ingredients scimping on nothing. Wow! I like that commitment. That could explain the slight increase in price. I can live with it if the food is this good. Previously(as Pinoy Grill) the business in it’s search to increase business by bringing in other business actually lost customers. Al then made a decision to go back to simplify the business and restart from there in an attempt to making better decisions and plans. I think he’s off to a good start. Currently, Manilla Grill is open 10AM to 9PM, closed on Mondays. Sometime next year Al will open Mondays with the same time. He’s using that day to complete some of the renovations. I must say the new deco transports me to an innocent time of another island relaxing me as if I were on vacation. So nice to do. Also in January, Al plans to open 7AM on Friday and Saturdays to serve breakfast. When he said that my eyes got big. I for one will find it hard to wait for breakfast but will hang on with baited breath. If you’re in the area, please visit this establishment. I’ll be taking my known acquaintances and hope to run into you. Al is easy to talk to making his rounds to each table gaining customer support. When we entered there was no one else there. When we left I lost track of the numerous phone orders and the place was packed. If that’s any indication of how this business will do during the holidays, I will not be surprised.
