The Joke Factory Comedy Club

Main Street Comedy Pub is the new name (and new ownership, I believe) of the former Joke Factory in Evansville. Unfortunately, the club not only welcomes but apparently encourages and supports comedians who joke about rape, talk about having raped women before, on stage, as a joke, and when a patron raised an objection, he verbally encouraged bar patrons to rape her. «Wouldn’t that be a good time for her?» he said.
The manager on duty at the club backed the so-​called comedian up. Apparently this manager is not the owner, but is social media manager. Since this happened on the evening of July 3, 2014, the pub first ignored the issue, then posted a non-​apology on their Facebook page saying they were «sorry some people felt offended,» that the issue had been «handled internally», they «consider it moot at this point» and would not address it further. Further «offenses» were to be handled «quietly» and in private, after the show. Considering the fact that the pub manager backed up a speaker who openly advocated the rape of an audience member onstage, one can infer that a member of the community wouldn’t be unreasonable in feeling some trepidation at the thought of meeting alone in private with these people.
The pub also deleted floods of dissenting comments on their Facebook wall, while claiming to support «Free Speech.»
After having posted the original non-​apology, they later actually removed any reference to the incident from their page, and appear to be trying again to pretend nothing happened. Screen-​shots of this activity can be provided on request.
I suggest that no woman, and no man who values the women and girls in his life, visit this pub under its current ownership and management.

Awesome club! They bring in nationally touring comedians and also have the occasional open mic for locals to practice their craft. Prices are good and the staff is very friendly.
