This bar brings a lot of trouble to our downtown. They have shootings and stabbings. They don’t take care of their property. Everyone that owns/rents around this place is furious at it. The bar is a total dive and looks like a fire trap. Just avoid this place is you like being alive. Once again, this place has shootings.

We found out about Hammerheads from a blind Google search while trying to find some place fun to hang out on a Saturday night. We hit their MySpace page and decided we would visit. Being from a bigger city I didn’t expect much. But once there we all had a great time. So far we visit every so often as it is the only 80’s Night we know of in the area. Now when I say 80’s don’t expect any Alternative/New Wave at all, that’s apparently asking too much. So expect lots of rock like AC/DC, early rap, sappy pop and lots of good old Michael Jackson. Do not expect Depeche Mode or Yaz although I did hear them play Soft Cell once. This place gets packed by 12AM every Saturday night. They serve food early I think. The beer is cheap and the drinks are strong! They are serving Guinness on draft so this bumps the review up a star. The crowd is a mixture of late 30 something’s with a few college students sprinkled about. Saturday is usually lady’s night so they get in free. Guys pay an inflation proof fee of only 5 bucks! Women to men ratio are about 10 to 4, if that tells you anything. Guys are all mostly jocks and country boys with a few«regular» dudes and few spazzes. Ladies here are college chicks out with the girls, very, very few hotties and a couple of cougars on the prowl. Most of the older folks are usually couples so all is cool. Never seen any drama here ever! Everyone who goes here is out to dance and drink, which is refreshing. It’s almost pitch black on the dance floor so no worries about people checking you out if you can’t dance very well. No one here is looking to be seen so like I said don’t expect any drama. Bathrooms are. Atrocious, no private stalls for the fellas, however they do have soap, but you will be lucky to get a napkin to dry your hands. Pool tables and darts yaay! The Jukebox is truly the gem in this place. It’s got everything from Punk/Ska, 90’s Grunge, 60’s, Hip Hop, Even has several albums from THESMITHS!!! Okay I handed down one star just for the jukebox. And they got another star for the bartenders because they are a cool and friendly bunch. So if you go keep your expectations low and have an open mind you just may have a great time.

Hammerheads seems to attract people who want to get hammered and fight. The bouncers are jerks and treat everyone like crap, and it is almost impossible to get a drink at the bar. This place needs to close asap!

So far, Hammerheads is the only decent place I’ve found to dance in town. I like the idea of playing pool upstairs, although I’ve never gotten a chance to play because the tables are always taken, but it’s nice to have options(sort of). I like that it’s spacious, the bartenders are friendly, and the music downstairs tends to be pretty good. The only down-side: I still can’t believe that Evansville allows smoking in bars– it’s a shame because I’d go out way more often if I didn’t come home smelling like an ashtray.

A relly nice downtown bar to dance it up in. The crowd is mixed but typically always college age and out to no good. I’ve only been once and it was 80’s night, apparently the college kids love 80’s or it’s all the straight men know how to dance to. You can stay upstairs and drink a few beers and play pool and pick up the ladies or go downstairs to the low ceiling dance floor and pounding music and sweat the night away. * There is a mini gay scene here but it is very discreet… but somewhat welcoming
