This review is for the lounge/bar. If they serve food, we didn’t partake, so I can’t comment on that. Some friends and I recently went to a show in Evansville. We were staying next door at the Tropicana Hotel, and one of the friends(who went to college in Evansville) wanted to go to Blush, having fond memories of it. We didn’t have time before the show, but thankfully we made it here around 10:00PM; it closes at 11:00PM on weeknights. Upon entering(This bar is in Le Merigot hotel.), I was very impressed by the ambiance. Not your typical«Evansville» look, if you will. The physical bar has a really cool look to it!(See the picture I uploaded.) There were only a couple other pairs of people when we visited, so I’m not sure of the usual«vibe», but it was pretty dead for us. The bartender was very nice, and drinks were affordable to my knowledge. I just had a beer, but my friends ordered some cute looking drinks that were also tasty.(I had a little sample.) If you’re looking for probably the swankiest spot in Evansville, or just to feel a little cool, this is likely the best spot in Evansville. It’s also connected to the casino, so you can have a drink before stopping by. The coolest part is that we even saw the opening act to the show we saw that night and one of the stars of the show in the lobby/at Blush(which is in the lobby area). VERY. COOL. So maybe you’ll spot a star in here too! ;)

Blush is a nice cozy lounge. The bartender Louie is excellent and caring of his customers. The wine selection is adequate. They do not serve food, except for kabobs on the weekend, which are excellent. You have the choice of chicken, shrimp, or steak, which is served with quinoa. They also have good drink specials.

This place has gone to absolute crap. Drinks were terrible, service, if possible, was worse than that. I will not be back.

Umm… I had very high hopes for this one, but then again it is in Evansville. What do you expect?! So I always wanted to go for dinner, but it never seemed to have any customers until after about 9 p.m. so I never attempted it. I have gone a number of different times… all just for drinks. The first time it wasn’t packed, but it wasn’t dead, however the vibe was really chill, which was nice. Although ordering a drink can be a bit of a dilemma as they have a drink menu with all sorts of cocktails. I went with a group of friends, one of which was not 21 yet, so they made us sit at the far end nearest to the hotel lobby… which was nice that they didn’t completely kick us out… especially since we had already ordered our drinks. It was also dead… we were the only people there. They were playing some depressing music, so I said really loudly(not thinking they would take me seriously), «I need booty shakin’ music!» A minute later, there was some booty shakin’ music =). The last time I went, it was fairly busy, but we were still able to find a place to sit and hangout. Beware of the blue, furry, ball-like seats… once you’ve had a couple of drinks, they become very easy to fall off of! The cocktails are nothing super special and drink prices are steep. I could take it or leave it really…

This was my first visit. My sister and I went on a Friday night about 6:30 pm and had the entire place to ourselves. It was a little creepy. I ordered the tuna tartar and sis had shrimp cocktail and we each had a specialty martini. She had ordered a mojito and was told«we don’t make those». The server seemed really put out by our presence and it really bummed me out. We sat outside by the water feature and enjoyed a rare July night outdoors without sweating. The martinis were very good and the appetizers were fine but over priced. The tuna was about 2 – 3 oz for $ 12. I think the shrimp cocktail had 5 for $ 12. One nice feature was the free appys which included mini beef wellington, goldfish and a nut mix. Overall it was an ok experience, probably wouldn’t go back. When we drove by later in the night, around 10 pm I think there was 3 – 4 sets of people. So, if you want a very private place with high-priced appys, this is the place for you!

Already en route to the Casino for the second time we stopped here to fuel up before embarking on the permanent smoke haze boat, Casino Aztar. This restaurant is part of the somewhat new The District just a block away from the Casino(yet curiously not connected). It is part of the Le Merigot, hotel, a Southern Indiana version of a W hotel in interior design style. It is a self titled ‘Ultralounge Tapas Bar’; I reschristen it ‘small Asian plates hotel restaurant.’ Tapas are from Spain thank you very much. The press release was all about bringing a bit of Vegas to Evansville… 1) there’s too much of Vegas in Vegas 2) no. The well lit tower of liquor has a good selection and the encased Remy has me wanting to break the glass it is enclosed in. We arrived at 6:30, it had a few stragglers but was mostly awkwardly empty. Service took awhile to acknowledge us. I realize it wants to be more of a late night place, but the hours are posted so there’s no excuse. The food was as expected in very small portions, but one or two of the dishes like Tom Kai Gai chicken and mushrooms had less than half an ounce of chicken and 2 mushrooms which is BS, wish I had more because that coconut curry sauce was fantastic. The Thai Seafood pot pie was universally voted down by the group. A big winner was the Anise Ground pork posicles. Edamame was oversalted with too much Kosher salt. I’m really curious to see what kind of crowd this attracts late night in Evansville… but not so curious as to actually go.
