It’s nice to have a bar in the theater. And it’s nice to bring drinks in to the shows. Unfortunately, they need to get it together better. I’ve never been there when they’ve been busy and there has always been 3 – 4 bartenders working. But it still takes ages to be served a beer. I sat at the bar one time with friends and ordered martinis. Those took a really really long time too but at least they had to be mixed. The long waits for draft beer and bottled wine really confuse me. Make sure you allot an extra 15 – 20 minutes before your movie starts… And that’s on a night that the bar is slow.

This is not a place I would go out of my way to visit, but it gets four stars(more like 3.5 rounded up) because it fully exceeds expectations as a movie theater bar. The mixed drinks are fine(nothing special) but the food we had was actually pretty good and I would totally sit down here again pre-movie. We had some kind of adult grilled cheese with spinach that was great. We also had the salted caramel brownie Sunday, also good. When I say great, I mean that I expected to pay $ 15 for white bread and velveeta in a movie theater, and actually paid regular prices for an above-average grilled cheese — and the other sandwiches also looked pretty good. Evanston is really lacking in good sandwich spots. Brought our cribbage board here an hour before the movie started because apparently we are 80 years old and they have booths and tables with enough space for games. We’ve never seen this place crowded, and they sometimes a live piano player. In sum, if you’re going to a movie, it’s a better option than most in the area for a quick dinner that’s neither Chili’s nor Stained Glass. If you want to pay more and go to an actual nice dinner, do the Cellar right up the street.

Unilocal has the hours of operation off by an hour. They actually close at 11 on weekdays and midnight on weekends. Regardless, it’s a great spot to hang out before a movie. The drinks are great and they have a pretty good selection of beer. Every once in a while they have a movie based cocktail that can be hit or miss. The bartenders are all pretty chill. If you anticipate being treated like a VIP this may not be the venue for you. They only have one working well which limits the number of people they can serve at one time regardless of the number of bartenders. The Rhythm Room also serves food which can be easily consumed under 30 minutes. During peak times they have servers, otherwise you have to order at the bar. If you order later than you hoped, you can always take it into the theatre along with your drink, assuming the movie you are watching is pg-13, nc-17, or r rated.

Great place to wait before the movie starts, but the service is awful! Servers are slow.15 min wait to get your drink, and the bartenders aren’t friendly at all! They act as if they are doing you a favor by pouring you a drink! Attitude!!! Zero hospitality Two stars go to the free parking garage and the Live music on the weekends

Overpriced drinks and crappy, overpriced food served within a cold and uninviting environment. Surprisingly interesting beer and whiskey selection. Drinks can be taken into the movies. Service quality is at best inconsistent and bartender and server attitudes mostly range from bored to uncaring. Live music some evenings and weekend afternoons. Pool tables. Truly disappointing. It barely serves its purpose and could easily be so much better. ~Peter O. and S.

I’d love to say that we planned our trip to the Rhythm Room as a fun pre or post movie activity but it wasn’t so. We had seen a movie and gone to lunch before my boyfriend realized that he lost his wallet… probably in the movie theater. Our only option was to go back to the theater and wait until the current movie was over to go look. Needless to say, it was a very nerve-wracking time. Thankfully, Century Theater has a bar! Hooray! He didn’t feel like drinking but I decided that booze would be a lot better than standing around watching popcorn pop so we took a couple of seats at the bar. Double Bulleit on the rocks for him, and a Dragon’s Milk stout for me. I was actually pleasantly surprised by how good the beer list was and impressed with the variety of whiskeys available. I realize that whiskey is crazy popular right now but this is also a movie theater. I guess I’m not used to the combo of good bar and movie theater. This place is actually quite peaceful. Granted, it was the middle of the day on a Saturday, but it was kind of like an oasis. I find myself wanting to go back, if only for the atmosphere. It is open and airy, quiet, and the staff is super friendly. The prices are pretty good as well. The icing on the cake is the people watching. While we were there a dad came out of the kids movie he was in to take a double shot before going back in. Priceless! So, yeah, I really like this place. They actually have pool tables and food too. There’s free parking for 4 hours so there’s time to do it all. Maybe we’ll check those out next time, maybe after a movie… hopefully with our wallets.

I dont know what happened to my fav place for drinks & a movie. I went on a Sunday evening & It seems they have an entire new and amateur staff. My bartender is dressed in a ball cap, stained tee shirt & work out pants with a dirty towel stuffed in the pocket. He pours me a drink that was NOT mixed well. It was clear that he did not know how to make an Old Fashioned. He never asked how my drink was as the bartenders and waitstaff stood huddled about. I have been a frequent customer of the rhythm room & have NEVER received service like this before. I hope this was a one time incident because my wife and I truly enjoy(ed) this place.

Not happy. Wait staff was also bartender. She never left the bar so I had to go ask for menus. I ordered salad and soup. Soup didn’t come so I had to go back up to bar to ask for it. Boyfriend also ordered soup but no spoon was given. Just a mess. Had to go to bar to ask for bill. Nobody was even there. Can’t blame it on being busy. The cook sat at the bar the entire time. I like the option of eating/drinking before/after movie but this was bad. We’ve been there before and had much better service. Off night?

Serves its purpose. Wouldn’t use it as a destination spot. High ceilings, they should dust them.

I had a very bad experience here this evening. After patiently waiting for nearly ten minutes at the bar, and not complaining as the bartender helped two customers that(I believe she saw) had arrived after me, I could not believe that she literally walked away from me while I was asking her a question. Not only incredibly poor customer service, but the interaction was completely lacking respect and basic decency. I come to the Century Theatres at least once a week. I will not spend a cent at the Rhythm Room.

Went here with my girlfriend and another couple. Drinks were good, nothing crazy, bud light was cold. Cant go wrong with that, service was good, waitress made a good recommendatio Wish it was busier on a friday night had live music which never hurts. Was nothing special. Nice place to sit and have a beer. They have a pool table and multiple urinals.

The décor and ambiance at the rythm room is really nice. I like the idea of having a drink before the show. The downside is they have really small tv ’ s behind the bar. You would think a bar in a movie theater would have bigger screens! The service was fine, but the prices were a tad high, then again everything is high at the theater. Overall a decent place to have a drink if waiting for a movie.

Two stars in reality. The additional star is because Evanston lacks a true lounge…(Correct me if I’m wrong fellow Unilocalers). It is nice to be able to hangout and order decent drinks and edible food. As I said, RR has a decent selection of alcohol, their mixed drinks aren’t to shabby. However, the food is nothing to visit for. The three apps we ordered looked like something to come out of a dorm microwave. Seriously, Lays chips sprinkled with cheese, Tostido chips sprinkled with cheese, and fries… you guessed it, sprinkled with cheese, only surprise, this time not melted. Meh, I’ve experienced better.

Fun place for a drink — if you don’t mind the constant overwhelming smell of theater popcorn. Hip, open area and nice, long bar for seating, couches and comfy arm chairs. It’s nice, but classy is a stretch. Being adjacent to the theater, the constant smell of funky theater popcorn chases me out every time and my clothes smell like it too. Ugh. Have had food there and although it’s OK, it’s really a bar with bar type food. I do like it there and I’d go more often just to change up the routine if it weren’t for the smell.

I came here with two friends on a weeknight. It was quiet and casual and it was perfect for a quick drink and chat with friends. It was a bit weird that the Rhythm Room was right next to the theaters – we could smell popcorn the entire time we were there chatting and drinking. Other than the popcorn smell, which honestly can’t be helped since this is a lounge area inside a movie theater, it was a very nice night out. Plus, mojitos here are much cheaper than Bar Louie, and the bartender was incredibly friendly!

Thanks to the bald bartender with the beard we had a great last night in Evanston before heading back to California. He was friendly and had great customer service. He definitely deserves a Century Theaters watch…

In a secluded upstairs hideaway in association with a large movie chain exists a pearl so polished it hurts not to go to. Super friendly staff, strong drinks, and fantastic ambiance makes the Rhythm Room a can’t miss.

I didn’t realize this place was attached to the theater, yes I read the reviews, but it just didn’t click until I got here. But this was the only place around that was open late and we weren’t even going to watch a movie next door. On a Sunday evening, it was dead, not terribly surprising, but service was great and cocktails were well made, if not as well crafted as I would have liked(but hey, its not a knock on this place and I hear you could take these into the movie!). I would love to come back here again when there’s some activity, be it people or live music, and actually feel like the place has a pulse.

I’m getting old darling. Kids I once thought cute in their rambunctious excitement now annoy me considerably. And my God, I would pay to avoid them. I would pay more to avoid them, savor a icy martini and listen to live musicians cover Amy Winehouse. Voila– tasteful movie posters, cheery servers, generous lounge seating that never seems crowded and happen to be sensitive to the fact that you bought tickets to a movie and don’t want to be late. So, you relax, chat with your date, have a drink and not get stepped on by the cute but clumsy, shouty, excited munchkins. GENIUS!!!
