Stopped in to pick up some of their take-out ravioli and meat sauce for dinner, noticed the mural of Venice on the wall and Chianti-bottle candles on the tables and thought«what a cute little classic Italian joint.» Sad to say, the take-out product didn’t really live up to the décor. Granted, there’s a margin of error when boiling your own ravioli at home(and I wasn’t the one doing the boiling), but the pasta came out somewhat rubbery, the filling was a bit bland, and the meat sauce was watery and seemed to have very little tomato content for a red sauce. I’d stick with the Buitoni or whatever your grocery store carries and give these ravioli a pass.

This is a true Italian restaurant and it has been in Eureka since 1905. This is a family owned restaurant through multiple generations. The first time I went in here, I ordered the ravioli and I liked it so much I ordered another serving. I don’t recall when I’ve ever done that in a restaurant. This is an old time Italian place when you go to eat and visit with friends. I ordered the meat raviolis and they were wonderful. The sauce is different from what most of us are used to but it is delicious. If you want to SOS go to Olive Garden. This is authentic Italian food. I’d rather spend my hard-earned money with an independent restaurant that serves great food. They also sell the raviolis which you can take home and use your own sauce. I’m eating my dinner with Marcelli’s raviolis. My son and I think that the cheese raviolis are a knock-out. I put my own tomato sauce on them and I’m stylin’. You can also buy their brown sauce which is very good. They probably haven’t changed the recipe since 1905. I love it. The«one star» ratings are unwarranted and frankly are stupid. The service was excellent and the waitress was very nice to me. So, I just ate a whole box of their raviolis at home and I’m drinking some brandy… life is good.

This isnt Italian food. It’s cheap noodles(poorly cooked) and really bad tomato sauce. I’ll never eat here again. Tho the service was good. Nice waitress.

Horrible service and horrible food. We ordered linguine with red sausage sauce and spinach ravioli with meat sauce, both came with salad and garlic bread. The food took forever. The meat sauce was brown which looked like gravy and was bland. The red sausage sauce didn’t have much flavor either. The server brought out our pasta which is when I had to remind her that she hadn’t brought out our salads. The salad was probably out of a bag and they added a few olives and some cheese. The order of ravioli was only a half order, the rest of it came our a few minutes later. The garlic was decent, well the our first piece was. Our second was only toasted on one side. Definitely wouldn’t recommend wasting your time here.

Not that great — sauce was lackluster. Meatballs did not seem homemade Other places nearby better choices

Everything was delicious. The portions were good with reasonable prices. I can’t verify whether or not the food was homemade, but was good and this was definitely a different experience than going to a place like Olive Garden, and that is a good thing. The raviolis were cooked right and tasted great, there was nothing bad or weird about them like some other reviews mentioned. Service was really good. The furniture and decorations do take you back in time, place could use at least a minor redecoration or remodel. But the reason we went was for good italian food and we left very satisfied. It is family owned and operated which is a major plus.

Great food. Seriously delicious fettuccine. Great service. Ravioli was awesome, chicken parm was great. What else can I say. No, it’s not a fancy spot but the atmosphere is charming, old school Italian. Loved it.

This place is great. I come here whenever I can. Family atmosphere and great food! I like the deep fried raviolis for an appetizer. I also get them from the store in town and cook them at home!

NEVER disappointed, NEVER overpriced, and NEVER bad service! I’ve been here several times in the last 4 years, and I recommend it to everyone I can! Old traditional dishes, made ‘the good way’ and fresh! «customer comes first» kind of service, and never a fake smile! I’ve watched this place transform from the appearance of ‘typical order, eat and go’ diner, to much more of a ‘bring your family and stay a while’ sort of place — absolutely great atmosphere! I haven’t found a single restaurant that has made Italian food to the quality that Marcelli’s offers, and every time I have found Italian food in some other part of the world, it only makes me long for Marcelli’s ravioli and chicken-alfredo-fettuccine! I will keep coming back here, I will make special trips to come here, if I were to ever move out of the area!

This place is amazing. I recommend the raviollis, especially the deep fried ones as an appetizer. I would eat there every night if I could. Plus it’s local and everything is traditional in recipe.

I have read the reviews above and am perplexed by a few. I had two meals and was impressed. You have to leave your intent of modern Italian cuisine at the door. The food is simple and good — old school Italian personified. It took me a few bites to get it, and man I did. Service is great — talk to the staff, they will give a you a rich history of the family, food, and the restraunt. By the way, if you do talk to staff, you re talking to the family. Nice folks.

Marcellis is a Humboldt County tradition. If you want fast food and fake smiles, go to the mall. Marcellis is the real deal. Owned and operated by a local family my great-grandfather knew and hung out with. I love this place. It’s like walking into my grandma Cotaldi’s kitchen.

Sorry but I don’t think I will be eating any more of these raviolis again. I bought the frozen Marcelli’s Cheese ravioli that are packaged and sold in the local stores. To my horror I found two ravioli’s stuck together by a hair! I also found bits and pieces of spinach in the ravioli when they are supposed to be just cheese. Who knows what else is in there. I would stay away from these.

I like marcelli’s a lot. They are certainly tasty, simple, food. A surprising array of sauce to choose from. The fried ravioli is great. They are a little pricey for what you get. The wait staff is always amiable and courteous if a bit sporadic in visiting your table. This would have been four stars if the prices were more reasonable.

This was the worst itallian food I’ve ever had. I ordered their«homemade» ravioli’s and spaghetti. The ravioli’s were way over cooked. The meat sauce was absolutely disgusting. After the first bite I seriously almost threw up. The garlic toast was limp and soggy. The only saving grace was the nice waitress who gave me a vegetarian ravioli after I returned the first. Save your money and time and never come to this awful place.
