This place used to be Luzmila’s, now it is called Luis’s. The menu is largely the same but has definitely had some updating. The hot salsa has finally gotten spicy and it seems like the child verde which has always been my favorite has gotten spicier too which I am a total fan of. I saw the menu now has a molcajete on it which I can’t wait to try! Good work Luis!

If you don’t like this type of Mexican food, I’m sorry, but you don’t know what real Mexican food is. Been coming here all my life. Never had a problem with them. It’s the best and I’ve had Mexican food all over Southern California and through out northern. I know real when I see/​taste it.

I probably shouldn’t write a review on Mexican food restaurants. Being from San Diego can put a real damper on most forays into finding the perfect pollo verde, unless in states that are on the border of Mexico. And it’s not that the food was bad, just not nearly as good as I was hoping for. And the pollo verde… well…it was like they were trying to make up for lack of taste by adding in waayyyyyyyy too much black pepper. And I like black pepper too.

I love Luzmila’s!!! I love their chicken anything!!! Mole, tacos, chimichangas… Or cheese enchiladas!!! Super attentive wait staff!!! Come on they give you free sour cream with your chips!!! Super laid back atmosphere, but never neglected as a customer!!!

Can’t recommend this place enough I send everybody in town here if they want good Mexican food. Not to dog on Rita’s they are my second choice and they’re a great place for atmosphere if you want drinks and whatnot but if you just want a good family friendly quiet meal possible take out Luzmillas is your best bet. Little-​known fact that Luzmillas also has a full bar as well as beer and wine and the staff is super friendly and accommodating

They have my favorite rice and beans of any of the local Mexican restaurants. The servers are quick and friendly. Their flautas are a serious comfort food for me, topped with lettuce sour cream, tomatoes and guacamole that really culminates into a perfect deep fried, creamy, slightly spicy, crispy, succulent mouthful. Yeah, I enjoy it a lot. Admittedly, the décor is underwhelming and they don’t do to much to make the place feel festive (Mckinleyville is a comparative fiesta) so focus on the service and food.

Grabbed some Mexican food here a couple of days ago after looking at some of the Unilocal reviews. The food is OK I thought. I do like that they bring you chips, 2 different salsas (mild/​hot) and a little dipping cup of sour cream. Their menu is extensive with all the classics. I had the combination burrito and my husband tried the tostada. The food was fresh but I wish the beans didn’t feel so heavy. They do shredded lettuce and cheese on top everything seems and the rice was a slightly dry. Won’t say I’d never come back here especially on a Sunday when some of the other places seemed to be closed.

Best Mexican in humboldt. Have gone here since I was younger and it never changes. However, we refuse to go to this location due to horrible service over and over. The older guy who has been there forever does not like us for some reason. We didn’t think much of it until the last time we ate there. He barely makes eye contact, we had to ask for water refills several times, one order came out wrong, and he forgot to bring out our soda. We gave it one last try but again, felt like we were not a priority.

My wife and I have had Luzmila’s food numerous times and have always been pleased. We get both dine in and today I’ll be getting some cheese and chips for take out for my wife. They are darned good. I’ll be getting my usual the chile relleno plate. Both are hellaciously wonderful.

The only Mexican restaurant I go to in this town. I love eating here. Staff are nice and friendly. Affordable food. I’ve gone to other Mexican restaurant but none tastes as good, to me, as luzmillas. Highly recommend.

The food here was absolutely terrible! The service was disgraceful. Taco Bell would be a better choice. I question whether or not the people of Humboldt have ever had authentic Mexican food? I am flabbergasted that there are positive reviews. Save yourself some money and disappointed tastebuds and go somewhere else.

This is what good old «American Mexican food» is supposed to be. Love everything here, and in particular, their soup. But whatever you get, you will be happy. Huge portions, a friendly staff, and a good selection of beers and Mexican soft drinks. Go, eat, and be happy.

and salsa is awesome. I personally don’t like extra spicy food so I like this place for its mildness. Another big plus is I prefer grilled chicken rather Than shredded, sliced avo rather than guacamole, and black beans rather than pinto… NEVER AN ISSUE HERE. they always substitute everything I Want, never charge me a ridiculous amount for substitution, AND have never messed up my order!

Just ok mexican! Tortillas were homemade which earns them an extra star! The carne asada was flavorless and was too thick.
The have great pico de gallo! It isnt my first choice but definitely not my last for mexican!
