Amazing food, great date spot. I like how the menu changes seasonally too. Even lunch is a treat! Great mac and Cheese, haha!

We popped in for lunch and weren’t disappointed with our sandwiches and the delicious oven-baked and herbed fries. However, the eggplant on the eggplant sandwich wasn’t thoroughly cooked through. Eggplant must be soft inside to be optimally palatable. This deficiency aside, the ingredients were of high quality, the flavors worked well, and the atmosphere and staff were delightful.

Date night with my husband… doesn’t happen to often. We had a reservation for 6:45pm, we were seated right away. This place is always, always busy so you expect to wait. This was a nice. Once seated, we received menus, asked if we wanted drinks. Water was already on the table which was nice or so we thought. Water was luke warm, no ice and tasted terrible. 1st complaint/suggestion: for the price we are going to pay for this meal, could this restaurant get a water filter? serve bottle water? Waitress came over with our ice tea, diet coke, wonderful. We perused the menu, and started conversing, I noticed my husband was being very quiet and he seemed uncomfortable. I asked, «are you ok? He said No, I’m sweating and the sun is blinding me, I can’t see anything but light. 2nd complaint… we were in the very back right hand corner with a table to left and table directly behind my chair. No space to move around, there was a customer with a baby in a front pack sitting directly behind me, it was extremely hot. I am assuming kitchen was right behind the wall. Suggestion: can we the restaurant get a couple of fans on or by that back wall. Can you move the tables so guests are not sitting so their chairs are right up against the next group. Also, I noticed the space next door was for lease… maybe time to expand to make more room! That would be so nice! On another note. dinner was excellent, food was wonderfully delicious. My steak was tender, husband trout was incredible. Wait staff are incredibly proficient and really do their jobs well. We will come back, just don’t want to sit at the back corner table. Thanks for listening.

I had the smoked duck and dried cherry pizza. It was tasteless and had very little duck on it. The place is overrated and over priced.

Great service, food, and atmosphere! Mushroom cobbler tasted so great with just a bit of crust in every bite. The polenta lasagna and brick hen were both very tasty!

Very cute place!!! We walked in without reservations and the hostess was able to find us a place at the bar right away. The ciders were tasty, as was the bread(I liked the gorgonzola one the best). My boyfriend really enjoyed the oysters(his first time having oysters), and the Wild mushroom cobbler was absolutely delicious, as was the dried cherry and smoked duck pizza!!! BTW, I’d come here just for the desert… the Myer’s lemon shortcake was to die for! It was really fun watching the going-ons in the kitchen and the heat from the pizza oven after coming in from a foggy day lent to very cozy atmosphere. The staff was cheerful and friendly… this is definitely a place we want to come back to!

WOW!!! This has topped my list of favorite dinners by a mile! As a chef of 17 years, it is almost impossible to get all of my senses engaged in a meal. From the moment we were greeted and sat, I knew we were in for a treat! Our server, Tina, made us feel so comfortable and invited as if we had known each other for years. The menu and wine descriptions were so seductively written, I had a feeling we couldn’t go wrong with whatever we chose to order and I was right! We had the Snake River American Kobe Beef Fettina Steak, which was out of this world, paired with a 2013 South American Carmenere. Beautiful perfection! The kind of meal you close your eyes to eat because anything more could easily turn to sensory overload. We will be planning another trip to Eureka just to experience this again.

Never tried them for lunch before. Not had I ever tried their FRIES which are wonderful– thinly siiced steak fries with plenty of garlic. The panzanella(sp?) salad was wonderful too. Can’t beat it.

Mike and I came here for dinner since we are up in eureka for the weekend. We found this place on a combination of Unilocal and trip advisor. This place is absolutely outstanding. The ambiance is wonderful and the food is out of this world. They make every single dish in house ranging from appetizers to desserts and everything is to die for. The menu is so creative and inspired. Since it was our first time in town, we just popped by about ten minutes before they opened and stopped in to their partner business, 2 Doors Down. This place is very small and intimate, but it’s also very popular so reservations are basically a requirement. The kind lady working at 2 Doors Down popped over on our behalf and they were able to squeeze us in at the bar for dinner as soon as they opened. This is one of the best dinners we’ve had in a long time! If ever we are in Eureka again, we will certainly be back!

Make a reservation, place is small! Shared the tomato soup and the grilled romain Caesar, very tasty. Had the brick bird and the steak with plum sauce was delish, again shared. I give the food a 4 but the service a 1, yes a ONE. Its a small place so we shouldn’t of had to ask for tea refills.

I would love to give them 4 stars because the food was certainly worth it, but the service was only worth 2 stars, so they get 3 from me. The Brick Bird(roasted chicken) was very flavorful and perfectly cooked. The wild rice has some flavors I would love to replicate at home. The skirt steak was very good, but ordered med and was mw — almost well done. Now for where my wife and I don’t agree; I felt the scalloped potatoes were bland, she thought they were better. She loved the tomato soup and I thought it was only«fine». Now for the service — we were not in a hurry, so a little slow works for us. On the other hand, I like my iced tea filled without running completely out and without having to ask for more. My wife and I both ran out twice and had to ask for a refill both times — that took otherwise average service to bad service for me.

If you don’t make reservations — even if there are 5 tables open — they will treat you like you are a leper and an idiot for even walking through the front door and thinking of eating there. They will offer you a table in two to three hours though… ummmm this is EUREKA people. We got the feeling that they don’t want tourists, only locals. No one is bustling around so you get that part of the time problem is the service at this restaurant. The downtown restaurants are not like this so if you don’t want to make a reservation for PIZZA(come on!) there are so many other great choices in the area and Arcata can be a lot more fun for your dining experience. You have to like college kids, but the vibe is lively and fun with great service wherever you go in this pretty little college town.

I always have a great meal here. Tonight I had the Duck Breast with potatoes followed by Tiramisu. The potatoes were a little over done, but still good. Dessert was amazing!!! Can’t wait till my next visit.

One of my favorite restaurants of all time. Been here more times than I can count, & I always leave extremely happy. You pretty much can’t go wrong. The complimentary bread they serve in the beginning is incomparable to every other bread I’ve ever had. The menu is small, yet concisely perfect. All their pizzas are seriously divine. The side of ricotta mashed potatoes are insanely ridiculous & oh! Be sure to save room for more than one dessert-seriously. Service is grand & ambiance is ravishing. I Love you Brick & Fire.

While visiting the beautiful humboldt county with my boyfriend, we wanted to try a local eatery with fab reviews. He found Brick and Fire Bistro and I was so excited to try it! We tried to walk-in on a rainy Sunday night to grab a table. The hostess greeted us and immediately asked if we had reservations. We didn’t, unfortunately. The wait was an hour but we were famished. Lesson learned: MAKERESERVATIONS! We did make reservations for 7PM the night after. We arrived a few minutes before 7 to ensure we got a parking spot. Another downside to making reservations is the lack of parking. Just a heads up! Even though we made reservations, we still had to wait. I think that’s a bit frustrating considering the whole point of reservations. Once were seated, it took a little while for our server to greet us and take our orders. We order the clams, French onion soup, Caesar salad and mushroom pizza. The food is very good. They know what they’re doing flavor wise. I highly recommend the Caesar salad and the French onion soup. As for the service, I was disappointed. The place has 9 tables. There were 3 – 4 servers that I could see. We had to ask for bread while other tables were served it automatically. That’s a given. Also, once we finished a first round our server took the bread basket without asking if we wanted more. They didn’t go above and beyond to ensure we were doing okay or ask how anything was. The whole meal didn’t match a bistro dining experience. If the service and parking were better and reservations weren’t necessary, I’d give the place 5 stars. Until then, I give it 3 out of 5.

My friend knows I like to eat, so I was in charge of picking a restaurant. This was my first choice for Eureka. We came here around 7:30PM and the place was busy with tables already reserved. There were only two small tables outside that were available. We were given complimentary bread– cranberry almond and kale/hemp seed. I only tried the kale/hemp seed because I didn’t want to fill up before the big meal ahead. The bread is made in house. I liked that it’s not the typical bread basket you get at other places. Wood-oven Roasted Oysters– local Humboldt Bay Kumamotos I love oysters, and these were especially good. Wild Mushroom Cobbler– with shitake, porcini, crimini and oyster mushrooms, baked in the wood-fired oven with cheesy biscuit atop Because the people of Unilocal raved about it, I decided I needed to try it. I love mushrooms, but this was a bit too rich for me. Apricots & Goat Cheese Salad– topped with a pan-fried sesame & sunflower seed crusted medallion of local goat cheese with toasted almonds & a sherry vinaigrette Got to have some greens! My friend and I finished every last bite of this. The vinaigrette was tasty. Wild Lobster Mushroom & Pork Belly Fettucini– a sauté of local mushrooms with garlic, shallot, squash blossoms, heirloom sun gold and baby heirloom tomatoes, lemon Thai basil, white wine lemon beurre blanc sauce… topped with balsamic Chile braised pork belly and fresh ricotta We were already full when our entrée came out. My friend and I misread the menu. We read«wild lobster, mushroom» when it was«wild lobster mushroom». We kept looking for the lobster. Service was friendly, but I had to ask for the dessert menu 3 times. I first asked for the menu at the beginning of the meal because I wanted to know if I need to make room for it or not. Crème brulee– Chai It’s one of my favorite desserts. I was stuffed but once I found out the flavor, I HAD to order it. I love trying different flavors of crème brulee and this didn’t disappoint. Good food makes me happy and I thoroughly enjoyed my 5 course meal! :)

Apparently you can charge high prices, provide abysmal service, and still have a 4.5 star rating on Unilocal?Me thinks not. Stopped by for dinner Thursday evening at around 7pm. Inside the restaurant was maybe 75% capacity, but we were told that due to reservations we couldn’t be seated until 8:30pm. However we were offered one of the two tables outside on the sidewalk. Not wanting to wait, we obliged. After sitting down and taking a look at the menu, we started to wonder if we had already been forgotten. After 15 minutes, the waiter finally meandered outside(after having walked by us several times next door to the wine bar) to take our order and bring us bread. Another 30 minutes go by. Finally, our roasted oysters arrive. At $ 2.50 a piece, they were tasty and worth it. Then 20 minutes go by. The GF’s polenta lasagna and my Italian mac & cheese are brought over. My mac & cheese was very tasty and certainly much flared up from something found in a Kraft box, but I question if it was $ 17 dollars good. The GF said the same thing about her lasagna. After finishing our meal, we waited and waited for our server to come back. Finally he comes by with dessert menus. GF and I were going to order dessert but after being at the restaurant for almost 2 hours and waiting so much we just had enough. I ended up having to walk inside and ask for the check. No complaints about the food. It was tasty and a little bit overpriced. But you know what? There’s great food just about anywhere you go. At an establishment like this that calls itself a «bistro», service should at least above average.

Wow, dank Unilocal entdeckt und wir waren wirklich begeistert. Leckeres Essen in schönem Ambiente. Lediglich reservieren sollte man, sonst sitzt man wie wir an der Bar :-)
