This was an amazing experience from the beginning. Told me they would fit me in the same day. ShawnRay was an fantastic counter person. If I could only deal with people like him, life would be great !!! Thanks to everyone at the shoe shop. A very happy customer !!!

Expert job replacing the zipper on one of my boots — plan ahead because the quality is worth the wait. Would totally recommend these guys! :)

Just had my favorite pair of Danskos repaired by Ryan. Friendly service, quality work, and a fair price. Took as long as quoted, which isn’t next day, but I value reliability over speed.
They even went above and beyond my expectations and shined my shoes. Overall, a positive experience. Would highly recommend taking your kicks there. I’ll bring my boots in for some love this spring.

i was quoted two weeks and paid $ 90 for new soles on two pairs of black boots (one of which was resoled by the shoe doctor less than one year ago, and the sole straight ripped off during indoor laser tag). after 20 days, i called. the boy on the phone said «i don’t know why someone would have quoted you two weeks, it usually takes three. it’s gonna be at least another week. they are sitting here on the shelf. we haven’t started them yet.» so after 20 days, no forward movement on my boot repair.
21 days would mark three weeks, the «accurate quote time» according to the boy, but here we are, and my boots are nowhere near ready for pick up.
it has now been over a month, over 30 days since the drop off, which is stressful, because the ticket says they are not responsible for items left over 30 days.
communicate with me, the customer. if you quote me two weeks and the shoes aren’t ready, give me a call. say hey, this is taking longer than expected. if i call you and you say one more week, communicate with me if a week goes by and they still aren’t ready. i want my boots. i trusted you, i paid you. i’m feeling neglected as a customer, which is causing me to lose faith in this establishment’s capabilities and practices. give me my boots back, with the promised repairs completed and done well!

Five weeks later, and I get my shoes back looking worse than when I took them in for new heels! One heel is off-​kilter (see pic). They also glued the toes and now they look ridiculous! (See pics) Horrible, amateurish work! I will never go back there, ever! Couldn’t be more unhappy with the shoddy workmanship! No wonder they make you pay in advance!

Jim’s provides reliable and inexpensive shoe repair, but the work can take a while.
I’ve been in there twice in the last few months – once with a messenger bag that needed a strap re-​attached, and once with some Sperry Topsiders with halfway-​sewed on soles (cue the bro jokes). On both occasions, the staff was friendly and the bill was very reasonable, and the repair work has held up over time.
The one downside is that it can take weeks for the repairs to get done; I’d hesitate to recommend this place if you need a quick turnaround. They were backlogged when I dropped off my shoes and guessed the work would take 2 – 3 weeks, but it ended up taking a month. Boat shoes are hardly an urgent necessity so the lag time was fine, but I would think twice before coming in with a rush job.

Their repair work is okay, but for the prices they charge, they could at least be friendly. I encountered two different women at the counter, each more surly and rude than the other. A simple repair involving everyday materials took weeks longer than they promised, and when I politely inquired when they would be finished, all I got was attitude.
They make you pay in advance, which is obviously because their service is so bad, most people wouldn’t put up with it if they hadn’t already paid.
Me, I don’t dig paying top dollar to be treated like shit. I don’t deserve that and neither do you. Avoid, but if you go, at least pay by credit card so you can get your money back if need be.

Very impressed with everyone I had contact with here. I brought in a purse with a broken handle to see if it could be repaired. Unfortunately, I arrived five minutes before closing time. Regardless, they cheerfully got out the catalog and took the time to find out what my options were. Additionally, once the parts are here, they offered to install them for free! Very happy I found them, and highly recommend them for friendly service.

I had a pair of florshiems that the center rubber insole had come loose and needed repaired. Since eugene only has 2 shoe repair locations I went to Jim’s since it was open. I had previously taken shoes to him and been impressed with his work but not the time it took him. I showed him what I wanted and impressed upon him that these were $ 300 shoes and I wanted them to remain florshiems, with a leather exterior sole and to just replace the rubber inset. He said he could do that by placing a weatherizing sole on. What I got back is no longer a florshiem, the leather sole is now encased in a hard plastic and the beauty of a florshiem is destroyed. Do not take your shoes to this Man. It is time for the marketplace to let him fade into poverty and obscurity.

Great place to get any repairs or cleaning done! I went in expecting to pay a decent amount to clean and waterproof a pair of expensive boots and they saved me the extra money and step by step showed me how to do it myself for only $ 10. Best part is I will be able to waterproof 2 – 4 more pairs of boots with the spray can I bought!!!
I am definitely bringing all my beat up shoes to them! They are honest, not solely out for your money (pun intended), friendly and do a great job. Thanks Jim the Shoe Doctor!

They did a good job on the waterproofing I requested. The problem is I asked for a blacking (which they didn’t do) before the waterproofing so my shoes look brown and terrible under their waterproof gloss. I will never, ever go there again.
To be fair, it’s the holiday season right now and they’ve hired a bunch of nimrods to help out. Try to talk to someone confident in what they’re doing. And don’t let them rush you. That’s assuming you go there which I recommend you don’t.

Took a week to glue a heel. Lady that works there has terrible attitude. Quality of repair was decent.

The resoled my husbands boots and did a great job so much that when I visit my family in Eugene this July I will be bringing out a couple pars of shoes for them to fix.

Service is not bad. However the prices were higher than I expected and when I had my boyfriend go pick up the shoes for me they were over 30 minutes late opening the store. Also the fact that they close early on Fridays kinda sucks but other than that it is a good option to save some money

My experience is that they do really quality work. They were not remotely friendly to me, and offered no apology or explanation for being a week late on re-​soling my boots. They seem to have a strong biker clientele and don’t feel the need to kiss any yuppy ass. Good for them, I guess. I’d go back if I deemed the job more important than my sense of comfort and dignity.

I cannot say enough nice things about Jim and the entire staff. They have always done more than an excellent job repairing my shoes, boots & Birkenstocks. Yes they will completely rebuild your Birks and the cost is much less than having it done at the Birkenstock Store. Sure Jim and the staff will joke with you and they will also give you unsolicited advice on how to care for your foot wear. Don’t let the Harleys out front shy you away. They are Harley Riders and they are also the friendliest bunch of people to deal with. My name is Pahl and I would be glad to tell you more as I am truly impressed.

The service here is not necessarily bad, but it’s really weird. I brought a pair of old and well-​loved boots in for a new sole. Simple request. I proceeded to get an unsolicited lecture about how I was conditioning the leather wrong (which was completely unrelated to the worn-​down soles).
The Good:
The handiwork work itself is very well done. The sole is perfectly even and the new stitching is neat. I’d done quite a number on those boots, and they really came through on the repair.
The Not-​So-​Good:
They finished a day later than they were supposed to, and when I went to pick them up I noticed that they’d not only put rubber on the heel when I asked and paid for leather, but they’d PAINTED the whole heel a dark color. It doesn’t look that bad, but I was really stunned and turned off that they’d do that without asking permission. I’ve had those boots and other boots resoled before, and never has anyone painted my shoes. To their credit, they did offer to sand it off when I mentioned it. Also, the boots were filthy. When I picked them up they were slumped on the floor and covered in dirt and dust. They weren’t immaculate when I brought them in, but that’s not license to toss them around like that.
The Bottom Line:
Odd staff, good cobbling. Seems aimed at bikers, so if you need your chaps repaired, this is your place. Just be sure to tell them not to paint anything that they’re not supposed to.

I think they are wonderful. I’ve been going here for a few years now and have always been treated nicely. The employees and I joke around a bit, make fun of each other and it’s great! I suppose I understand why someone would feel uncomfortable by this, but just relax and have a good time! All of my repairs have been very successful even when they seemed unrepairable! I’ve recommended them to multiple people and stand by my admiration for this local business.

I’ve been coming here for years with good service, but this last experience I had will be my last.
I brought in my boots, explained what I wanted done, and paid. A week later, I got a phone call saying they were ready. I was just down the street, so I went in 10 minutes after getting the call and they were not done yet. I waited around, received rude questioning about how much I had paid for the boots and why I had treated them so poorly. It is my job to buy the boots and wear them out, and it is their job to fix them without questioning my shoe wearing habits or talk down to me. That’s what keeps them in business.
I had some stitching repaired on the boots, and when I picked them up, the strings hadn’t been trimmed and the glue was sloppily applied and visible. $ 25 for a bad job and a bad attitude. No thanks.
