Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Very interesting and varied menu! Décor not as upscale as I expected. Music too loud is the only drawback.

Came here for dinner and I got their only burger. Presentation is really nice here and everything is served on, well, boards. The burger came with potato wedges that were my favorite on the dish with this interesting sauce that to me, tasted like cold marinara sauce that was pureed(I still enjoyed it though). The burger was alright, I’ve had better and the bottom bun was soaked in fat/oil. :/ Side note: I really like their bathroom and how there was wood cookies everywhere.

Been here twice with my husband, both times have been consistently good. Food are small plates. The ambiance is good. Husband and I picked a few things off the menu and shared plates… prices are reasonable. Last night we had the pomegranate salad. which was delicious, boar ribs. AMAZING and shrimp and grits… they were OK, but I am also from the South and am very critical of southern food. All in all we have found this place to be consistently good and service is superb! Will be back!

I really wanted to give this place a 5-star rating, but half the dishes we ordered were either bland or underseasoned… and we ordered the entire menu(except the burger since the server forgot to bring it). I hope the next Mac and cheese and gratin will make a change for the better. Our table decided that the best dish off the entire menu was the beet salad… Definitely worth coming just for that dish alone! And kudos to our server for fabulous service!

Loved the food! It’s tapas style served on boards and it’s amazing!!! Every bite is delicious. I highly recommend you come here for a night out in Eugene!

Went back for the first time since pre-opening Friday night, very impressed. Hip enthusiastic staff. Cool cocktails. Excellent«Whit» vibe and perfect location. Eugene’s most interesting menu, with boar, venison and excellent, seriously rich shrimp with grits. The Tiny Tavern renovation really came out well, both the dining area and the(very cool) copper bar have a great feel to them. Happy hour4−6, everything a buck less. Board feels like a really good Portland restaurant, right here in Eugene. The Whit just keeps rocking!

This little gem! So glad I stumbled upon it here on Unilocal.Amazing, Devine, another slice of heaven found in the whit. My partner and I went there and we were seated immediately on a Friday night. Love the ambience of the place, I mean the name alone just sounds cool: board. Staff is very friendly & attentive. Great beer on tap, I had the spiced cranberry margarita(ok I had two) amazing. We ordered three dishes to share(plenty of food). I myself picked the board burger. Best burger I’ve ever had, ever in my 27 years walking this earth. I will dream of it till we meet again. My guy got the Cubano. And it was also superb. I really loved it. Me being the pasta enthusiast that I am we also ordered the Mac & cheese. My mac & cheese love started in toddlerhood and I’ve tasted many variations. This was on point. Usually I’m disappointed with dry or too crunchy Mac but this was none of that. It was really delectable . I will go back to board over & over again. I’m excited to try other things or just continue my love affair with the board burger. Go here, eat & be merry, promise you won’t regret it!

I am sad to write a negative review about Board. I was really looking forward to eating there with my husband and in laws. The ambiance was pretty cool, but extremely loud. The cocktails were tasty — though we were charged for three extras by mistake. The biggest deal was that the food was bad. The shrimp was undercooked and over spiced. For the record, we enjoy strong favors. The grits were fine, nothing to write home about. The ribs tasted like white people’s version of Asian cuisine. The babaganoush was extremely bland, just like the fennel and asparagus salad. I have never before been to a restaurant and thought that the salad dressing was flat and needed acid or salt. We also ordered the brussel sprouts and potato fries which were completely average. This was not enough food to feed four people. We contemplated whether we wanted to give them a second shot with more entrees or give up and head over to the sandwich truck down the street. The Sandwich League won. I hope this restaurant turns things around and gets a new chef. Regardless, we will not be returning.

Highly recommend Board. The service, food & cocktails were really great. They even brought us out a couple complimentary appetizers to apologize for the long wait and it didn’t even seem that long to me. We ordered a bunch to share: Macaroni & Cheese, Beef Brisket, Shrimp & Grits, Seasonal Veggies & Bubbaganush(sp?). Needless to say that was more than enough for three adults and a child so we had leftovers!

Board was just amazing. If you are trying to get Papas soul food across the street & they are over-crowded &/or the vegetarian in your group is getting hungry, this is the place next door. Board has amazing choices in their menu are good for both veggie & meat lovers. All of their food is local & high grade food, seasonal. Their beer & cider are lovely & dry. My favorite were the fingerling fries with pumpkin sauce. Anyone can eat it, & everyone will love it. This restaurant is also the type to attract nice & sweet locals, so you are bound to have a good time. This says a lot about the place as well, being a sanctuary away from rude people.

The first time I came to Board it was on opening night. We arrived shortly before they were about to close or possibly it was just after they had closed for the night so, unfortunately, they weren’t serving food any longer, but there were still a few people at the bar so they were kind enough to let us come in a grab a drink. I was really impressed with the transformation of what used to be Tiny Tavern to this beautiful restaurant. Fast forward a few months to last night and we finally got a chance to try their delicious food. We ordered 3 dishes to share: the lamb vindaloo bruschetta, the shrimp and grits and the arugula salad. The three dishes were definitely enough food to fill us up. The lamb was wonderfully seasoned and came with a nice refreshing side of pickled onions with cilantro. The shrimp grits were extremely rich and creamy, with tiger prawns and roasted green onions and cilantro. The arugula salad was decadent(its rare to use the word decadent to describe a salad, but this truly was). There were beets, chevre, cherry tomato, bacon, and a light dressing that was so beautiful tasting. I think the salad was definitely our favorite dish. This place is pretty darn great and I cannot wait to go back. I even tried to talk my husband into going for lunch today!

This place is great. The service was immediately noticeably different than most dinner spots — it was prompt(the moment we walked in the door), and during our dinner, we had anywhere from 1 – 3 people asking if we needed more water, another drink, if we were enjoying our drinks, etc. The cranberry margarita I had was on-point, made with fresh ingredients(not mixers or cranberry«cocktail» juice). I ordered the shrimp n grits, which were perfectly seasoned and and the extra oil from the pan was poured with the shrimp over the grits(which I love). The grits were flavorful, piping hot and a good consistency. The green sauce and cheese was not over the top, but a nice balance. My husband had the brisket over grits and mushrooms with a mushroom gravy. Normally we eat BBQ’d brisket, but this was more like a fall roast beef, and the mushroom gravy was delicious. We ordered the caesar salad to share($ 7, why not) and it was delicious. Recently I had the same sized salad at another restaurant and paid nearly twice the price, and it fell flat. The parmesan cheese they use is yummy. We were in and out with food and drink(not counting tip) for $ 45 and FULL. The only downside at all was the noise — we had a hard time having a conversation because it was so loud, but it is to be expected in a small establishment. We will be back, and back!

I’ve been to Board twice in the last two weeks. Once for dinner and the other for drinks. Dinner: I had a burger, medium. The taste was good although over cooked. The Potatoes, not fries, that it came with tasted like that had been baked hours before and were completely dried out. My partner had a salad, which was insanely over dressed. Drinks: I ordered a gin fig fizz. Which could have need great had anyone behind the bar cared about the art of a good drink. It tastes like kids kool aid. Overall: a great step up from Tinys Tavern, but I give this place less than a year. It was sub par and the Whit deserves better.

Tiny Tavern was an institution to some, but I always found it a rather scary place, the sort where you could get stabbed if you accidently elbowed some biker. When it reopened as Board over the summer, it got some people mad at encroaching gentrification of the Whit, but I say let it encroach if it means another good restaurant in town. DLW and I stopped here for a drink and snack shortly after opening, and again for dinner more recently. The interior is clean and inviting, with no trace of knife fights. The bar has a really cool acid-etched copper top that qualifies as a work of art. At dinner they even had a guitar player playing soft jazz. don’t think Tiny’s ever had that. The menu is short and sweet. Two items jumped out at us: Cuban sandwich and shrimp with«popcorn» grits. Cubans are among life’s greatest pleasures, and this version was pretty classic with pulled pork, ham, cheese, pickles and spicy mustard, served with oven-roasted fingerling potatoes. Loved it, and the potatoes were a nice alternative to French fries. How do you make«popcorn» grits? By mixing finely chopped popcorn into the grits during cooking. It gives the grits just a little extra corny flavor and texture. Beware that the parking can be tricky. The spaces against the building are reserved for Board customers, and if they fill up, get a permit from the restaurant for your dashboard, or Diamond Parking is liable to give you a ticket. Maybe it doesn’t fill the niche that Tiny’s did, but really, what are you holding onto?

I don’t believe I have ever given 5 stars because 5 stars means as good as it gets according to Unilocal.Well, in Eugene? This is as good as it gets. A friend invited me to dinner, her treat, and this is where she decided to go. Upon seeing the menu, I was a little disappointed as the fare seemed a little limited and nothing really screamed out at me. I’m an idiot. My friend and her husband suggested we all order a «small plate» and share. HOL-E-SMOKES! The execution of all but one small dish was spot on, and I refuse to taint this review with that item because I really believe it was a fluke. We tried the Mac-n-Cheese, finger fries, and gratin as small plate options. I have had«gourmet» mac-n-cheese from other eat outs before, and frankly, I am never impressed as it is most often overcooked gruel mush with bread crumbs sprinkled about. Boards MnC was fantastic! The pasta was still al dente, and the sauce was spot on with basil chiffonade and Gorgonzola I believe. The finger fries, were baked fingerlings served with a chipotle-pear ketchup. Yup. Chipotle-pear ketchup. A great balance of tomato acidity, fruity sweetness, and a little heat from the chipotle. I won’t address the gratin. Meh. For round two, we ordered shrimp & popcorn grits, pork & pear 3 ways, chicken curry pot pie, and an el cubano panini with finger fries. What are popcorn grits you ask? Pop some popcorn, process in chopper, blend with grits and seasoning. The result is quite awesome! Add juicy grilled shrimp, add a little jalapeño something or other, and take your tongue to taste town! The pork loin and pears were something special. I consider myself a fairly good cook, but find pork loin difficult to keep moist. The chefs at board nailed it! Serve it with pears prepared three ways with a little bread and chevre(goat cheese) spread and you won’t believe it. My el cubano sandwich? Hard to mess up, I know, but just as hard to make it something above the standard. The pulled pork was lightly smoked and still moist and married fantastically with the sweet spicy mustard. The bread might be the same bread used at the Bierstein which has my favorite paninis, but if I am not mistaken they used garlic butter to grill the panini at Board. The pickled onions and chile served on the side were a great compliment to the sandwich. Add the finger fries with that awesome ketchup… And shut up. Don’t bother me. I’m eating. The pot pie was a pleasant surprise to both my wife and my friend’s husabnd. Neither like curry, but this blend of coconut cream, brown rice, peas, chicken, and yellow curry won them over. In fact I have been given instructions to recreate it at home. Perhaps I’ll just get take out. After all, the total bill(no alcohol) came in under $ 50. From what I understand the menu changes with the season and availability, so check them out often. It’s clear Board is dying to bring us excellent food, executed perfectly, at a fair price. Check them out!

I want to be kind because these guys are VERY new and probably need to work out the kinks and maybe this just isn’t my kind of place and personal tastes really have nothing to do with how good a place is. With that in mind, here is what I thought and why I won’t be back. The service was fast and very friendly and they really cleaned up Tiny’s well. Having been a patron of that establishment for many years, it was a bit strange to experience it in this light but it was a definite improvement. My friend and I ordered the pork brisket and cauliflower au gratin appetizers. These appetizers were both around $ 8 a piece. When they arrived at our table I was a little surprised by the portion and not in a good way. I would guess that there was about 4 – 5 oz of meat(6 small slices) and two small pickled plums that we thought were cherries and the cauliflower came in a tiny dish about 4″ in diameter. It held one small crown that was covered in white cheese sauce and a slice of cheese that was toasted nicely. I expected much more for $ 16 let me tell you. On to flavors… the brisket was good but really nothing spectacular or special. The plum sauce was tangy and the dipping sauce was kind of like sour cream with goat cheese blended in. The cheese sauce on the cauliflower was totally underwhelming. The slice on top made it nice and cheesy and the cauliflower was perfectly cooked, but I make sauce at home from a Betty Crocker cookbook that’s just as good, if not better. Ouch. I feel kind of bad saying that, but it’s true. So, overall those items were just ‘ok’. I’d like to say that maybe other items are better but I will never get the opportunity to try it because the cost to value is totally prohibitive. Sorry, Board. Good luck to you, but it’s just not for me.
