I can’t believe I actually gave this restaurant money. First, my husband called to get directions and the hostess hung up on him. We found it anyway and decided to look past the rude hostess and give it a try. Huge mistake. The baked brie appetizer was drowned in balsamic vinegar that made is stiff and overpowered the flavor. The salmon was decently cooked but the scalloped potatoes tasted like they were made at a sub par retirement home and the Wild Rose grilled special was practically inedible it was so overcooked and flavorless. Do not eat here! For the price there are plenty of other delicious restaurants in the area that won’t be a waste of your money.

We had no complaints! The food was excellent! Better than what we had had at the Stanley Hotel (much better)! I had the shrimp and pasta excellent! Staff very polite!

The outdoor area is really cute but don’t let that fool you. The food was subpar and did not meet expectations.
We started with calamari which had a fishy taste, although the dipping sauce had a good flavor. I ordered the trout, it was not fresh definitely a frozen piece of fish. It was so salty I had to drown it in honey mustard sauce to make it eatable. The vegetables it came with included 2 pieces of broccoli and 2 pieces of squash. My friend ordered the soup and salad which was also underwhelming. The potatoe cheese soup lacked flavor and was very bland.
Our waiter was a nice guy but couldn’t get out order correct, delivered our food to the table next to us before figuring out it was supposed to be ours.
I would not recommend coming here.

The staff was somewhat friendly, but stubborn when we wanted to be seated closer to a window. The salad was very bland and the dressing was so sour it was nearly inedible. The fries were fine, on the same scale as McDonald’s. But the burgers were truly bad. Flat, tasteless patties that were quite burnt. I would never come back here and would not recommend such mediocre food and service.

Not a bad restaurant. The salad bar was very sad. The service was turtle-​ish. But my fish-​n-​chips were very good. Thus the 3 generous stars. So, the lesson here is get the fish-​n-​chips and don’t expect too much and you will be pleasantly surprised.

A review like this one is tough. The wait staff was friendly and certainly earnest enough, however some of the food was disappointing.
My wife’s battered fish and chips was excellent, however our stuffed mushroom appetizer and my buffalo steak and potatoes entrée were subpar.
I know this is the low season and the waitstaff along with kitchen staff could very well be training up for the high season, so we may have caught them on an off night. Unfortunately our experience did seem to fall in line with the other mixed reviews.
The venue itself was OK in that it was a small room that was a bit dark and conversations from other patrons were easily overheard. Not bad, but not as charming or homey as we had hoped.
It wasn’t a bad experience necessarily, but for the prices being charged it was a bit disappointing.

Baked Brie appetizer was very good along with the blackened salmon Caesar salad. Burger and fries ok. Salad bar very fresh.

My husband and I were in town visiting and on vacation. We drove past a bunch of the little shops and restaurants and decided to give this place a try. It’s a nice, quiet place. My husband ordered a regular cheeseburger and I got the buffalo burger. We both enjoyed our burgers. They also have good fried and onion rings. Service was slow, but great. Our waitress was very sweet and brought us everything we requested. I’d recommend this place.

I’d wanted to try this place for a while because it has a good variety on the menu. I ordered the veal schnitzel primarily because I’m trying to eat less spicy right now, and I don’t see it on menus very often. The veal was in three pieces, with mildly spiced breading. There was a bit of grizzle, but other than that, it was very tasty. The veggies were cooked well, and had some nice wild rice also. The salad bar could have used more vegetables to choose from, but I enjoyed the fresh baby greens, cucumbers, beets, chick peas, and olives. I’m staying away from tomatoes right now, but those were offered, too.
My boyfriend had the potato soup and liked it. He had a perfectly cooked burger and added mushrooms, which were recommended by the waiter. Everything is reasonably priced. We will go back, there is more to try!

I’ve never been more disappointed in a restaurant before and was genuinely annoyed to give this place any money. My boyfriend and I had been out and about in Estes Park and were extremely hungry when we walked past this place. It seemed to be very busy and looked good, so why not try something new. We both got a couple burgers, elk and beef, and it tasted like elementary school cafeteria food. I took a few bites of mine and was turned off. Tried to drink my lemonade to get the frozen patty taste out of my mouth and nearly went into a diabetic coma.
The server and manager could tell I wasn’t impressed, although I don’t like to complain. I mostly just wanted to leave. Both asked me if everything was okay, I said yep, just not too hungry. Then the manager kept pressing asking if I didn’t like it, I said not really.
«Well what didn’t you like about it?»
«Uh it just wasn’t good…»
«What wasn’t good about it?»
Now the entire room full of people were staring at me as the manager caused a scene, berating me about what I didn’t like. I became pretty embarrassed and just said it wasn’t good and tried to leave as quickly as possible. Very unprofessional.
On a positive note, the server seemed genuinely sympathetic over how embarrassed I was after that conversation.
I really wish I could give this place negative stars because that’s what it truly deserves.

Trip to Estes Park and we decided to give it a try. This place is very quiet which is good! Food was alright, had and elk burger and I was not impressed! It was dry and not so good. Nachos were alright, the staff were not attentive. Margaritas were good but we are def not coming back.

Awesome filet mignon! The sauce is AMAZING! I got the surf and turf– the lobster tail was little and a lite chewy, but I was in the mountains, so I shouldn’t have expected much in the way of seafood…
Kids had elk burgers, and they raved about how juicy they were.
Hubs had the chef special– bison and elk medallions… He thought they were ok until he had my filet! The fillet was definitely the star of the dinner!
The salad bar is lame, 4 dressings: thousand island, Italian (which was empty), ranch, and honey mustard. Not many toppings either, but it was fine. You could choose soup instead, but of the two, one was empty with a big thick film on top. My daughter ordered a Caesar sad, which comes from the kitchen. It was good, but it was huge and drowned in dressing (albeit good Caesar dressing).
The service left quite a bit to be desired, even though it was not very busy, but our basic needs were met.
So if you’re coming in for a filet mignon or elk burger, you can’t go wrong here!

We ordered the French onion soup and the French dip. The plates looked nice when they were delivered. The food was nicely prepared but was pretty bland — make sure to keep the salt shaker handy. Also, I’m not convinced the meat for the French dip wasn’t frozen — little color and little flavor.

Really good food.
Service was slow by U.S./American standards, but I think it’s more because they are trying to have a more relaxed Continental ambiance. Leisurely dining.
If you want to eat and bolt this isn’t your place.
Having said that, we LOVED the appetizers, soup and salad bar, and had veal, elk, salmon, and surf and turf, as well as dessert — and it was all very, very good.
We also came in October and, while they are busy, they weren’t completely full, so the service was appropriate for what we wanted.
It is a bit spendy, but we knew that going in, and were prepared to spend a little more for a good experience — which we had.

Average food. Average salad bar — vegetables were not fresh. Average server also. Looks great from the outside but a bit disappointing inside. I ordered the crab melt and it was super mustardy — not what I was expecting. And not what I believe goes well with crab.

Crab melt & fries & chocolate shake. Elk burger & fries & peppermint Patty hot chocolate. Both drinks were excellent. Both sandwiches were ok, but nothing to write home about. The fries were very good. The service was excellent.

I think it’s the elk burger I saw on the menu that pulled me into the restaurant. I order the elk burger, it came with bacon, lettuce, onion and tomato. And it was delicious. The onion rings were a little over cooked. The service was good. The waitress was attentive.

Wife picked this place after a hike to bridal veil falls. Was a bit wary since it only had two stars but gave it a shot. We both had the elk burger. I had it with a small salad and wife had onion rings. If you get the small salad you get one trip to the salad bar which I thought was a good deal as I could customize my salad as I wanted. Loaded up on the pickled beets which are a favorite of mine. Spring mix at the salad bar vs the usual iceberg so overall a good deal. Piled on the blue cheese as I like my salad wet.
Burger is a bit on the small size. Note that only the elk burger comes with bacon. The other burgers the bacon is a buck more. Not great bacon but good enough. Burger came medium which is fine with me. Comes with tomato slice, white onions and lettuce (romaine slices) and a pickle. The elk burger has a bit of chew, be warned but I liked it. Asked for some Tabasco to spice it up. Some siracha would have been awesome but they didn’t have it. Overall a decent meal, nothing too fancy and the wait staff was attentive. If you’re here for dinner be sure to find the coupon for buy one dinner get one.

We’ve eaten here a few times with very different experiences. Our first time we were fairly disappointed, but decided to try again because we had a coupon. This restaurant is expensive, there are coupons to be found! This time we had the chefs combo of elk and bison medallions. It was amazing. It was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. I highly recommend it!
But then we decided to end our meal with the peach cobbler which had no peaches and tasted so bad, I ended up shoving bread in my mouth to try and get rid of the taste.
So this resturant confuses me. Some things are AMAZING but most of the menu is mediocre or straight up bad. If you eat meat, try the elk and bison. But spare yourself the cobbler. Never eat the cobbler.

First off… Don’t say you do rehearsal dinners if you don’t have a banquet room… They never cleared appetizer or salad plates, and we were cramped to begin with.
The food… Hummmmmmm. Confusing? «Unusual sauce» on the game specials… Really? Don’t offer game if you cannot cook it, we all ordered nothing above medium, and it was all well done. So disappointing. The bride was also the last one to get her food, and was served over 10 minutes after the rest of our dishes trickled in. I would critique the service more, but it was just so terrible there isn’t much to pin point.
Maybe don’t come here if you like warm food, meat cooked properly, privacy for your special events, or any sort of service.
