I went in with low expectations, but it was close to our cabin and I wanted caffeine. Hours listed were incorrect, but that may not be their fault. I went back to my cabin and called later to see if they were open yet, and headed over when someone was there. I got a chicken fried latte for my husband(because you have to!). It’s a chocolate-peanut-butter-banana-coffee milkshake thing. The name is just there to piqué your interest. I got a flavored latte thing. I’m usually a regular coffee drinker, but I had a feeling that ordering that could end in sadness. No single-origin pourover here, so I knew it was best to load my drink with milk and sugar. It was… as expected. Sweet and milky and kinda caffeinated. I was feeling optimistic, so I ordered what was written on the white board menu as «breakfast sandwich: bacon egg & cheese.» I figured I’d pick the bacon off and give it to my husband. I got back to cabin, peeled back the foil, and found ham(which I DETEST), egg, and cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel. Cinnamon raisin bagel with ham?! Who does that?!

I know what your wondering, is there really chicken in that latte? The answer is no. It’s actually not even a latte. The chicken fried latte is a cold, frosty, coffee, peanut butter, chocolate, banana smoothie of sorts. It’s really delicious and refreshing on a hot day, but I’m still unsure as to why it’s called a chicken fried latte.

Certainly you should try the chicken fried latte. Although not listed on the menu, you can get both coconut and almond milk with your lattes. Service is great! Why support Starbucks when you can support these guys?

I’m from California, and everyday when we drove past Summitview Coffee and I saw the«chicken fried latte» sign I was intrigued. EVERYDAY i asked to get one and I FINALLY got one today(I was about to give up bc the power was out for a little bit). This drink is not for the faint of heart. If you have a sweet tooth this is definitely for you. It tastes like a icy chocolate peanut butter shake. I love ice blended drinks and thats exactly what it was. It’s sweet but I dont feel sick after. The Large was practically a meal. The owner and his daughter were so nice and the drinks were made very quickly. The owner even gave me a Large while charging me for a small because it was my first time trying it, which was SONICE, and not something any other coffee shop owner would do. If I ever come back to CO, I’ll definitely be trying more of their drinks.

We’re not allowed to do anything else on our first day in Estes Park until my daughters get their Chicken Fried Latte fix in. Fortunately, they work it off in the RMNP. Don’t expect to hang out though. This is a drive through only. Get your coffee. Fortify yourself and get hiking.
