EP has stepped up their food game. Wow! That’s all I got. but since there is a minimum word requirement let me tell you about my sandwich. Fresh homemade French bread grilled lightly then a thin layer of homemade pesto aioli. How can you top that? Well literally with fresh carved turkey breast and provolone melted cheesy goodness and you have perfection. I grabbed a drink and some chips. The price is more than a Norma sandwich place but here’s the scoop… the sandwiches are huge. Have them cut them in thirds and share with your friends, family, dog or not and eat it the next 2 days. You won’t regret the stop here.

Great little deli that takes pride in their food. All homemade, including their breads. Try the spicy chicken salad. Amazing. Gluten free bread as well!

Absolutely delicious! The pastrami is KILLER(evidently made in-house) — it’s as good as or better than any city Jewish deli, of which I’ve been to many. It’s on the pricey side, but worth it. Oh and the peanut butter pie isn’t too shabby either.

I ordered Reuben and I must admit this was probably the most delicious sandwich I have ever had! Kudos to the staff and the owner who never takes a day off! Everything was fresh and tasty!

Totally not worth the wait. My veggie wrap was«OK,» and the loaded potato salad was«OK,» but not worth waiting 30 minutes for. The staff were very friendly but seriously, the waiting was just ridiculous for something that should have been ready in 10 minutes at most.

Overpriced and underwhelming. From the name Scratch, I assumed it stood for«made from scratch» but it should stand for«scratch this place from your list of restaurants to try». After a full day of hiking we thought this place would be a place to get a good turkey sandwich to give us some needed energy. We both ordered a sandwich(different ones), 20 oz. drink, and split a small side of pasta salad. The total was just shy of $ 30. A bit more than I expected for a deli but we hoped it would be great place. Not so. The sandwiches were okay but rather underwhelming at $ 12 for a 6-inch. I must mention that the sandwich bread was great. But the rest of our sandwiches were mediocre at best. Worse yet was the small pasta salad. $ 2.50 got you one Cup of the blandest pasta salad you will ever palate. We threw it away. The pasta salad that Wal-Mart sells for $ 2/lb. blows this stuff out of the water. We also noticed the front sign says«deli and bakery». The«bakery» here consisted of one small slice of carrot cake, four lemon bars, and a mess in a container labeled peanut butter pie. Definitely not a true bakery. Out of curiosity to see if the high pricing was due to it being in a remote, tourist town or if it was due to the owner being disillusioned by the caliber of his food, we compared it to a couple other local places. For what we paid here, we could have gone to the full-service Sundeck restaurant next door and ordered pecan smoked trout/salmon or gone to the local chop house and ordered half-pound bison burgers. It seems the value of this establishment isn’t quite on par with that of its surroundings. I would give this place zero stars but I find it somewhat amusing that there are so many fake, 5-star reviews, written by Unilocalers with only a couple reviews. These are likely all fake profiles. The one person even had the cajones to use an image of the mountains, taken from the parking lot of this place, as their profile picture. I would assume that was done by an employee. For their effort, I will give them one star. In sum, save yourself the hassle and avoid this place. It’s not worth it.

The Italian is one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten! Sandwiches are huge! I can’t think of a better place after a long hike. Great for sharing.

We love this place! Almost everything is made from scratch, including their breads. They have breakfast sandwiches/wraps and sandwiches for lunch. Great place to stop for a quick breakfast or to grab a sandwich to take into RMNP as they are a couple minutes outside the park entrance. They have vegan sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. The best was the vegan green chile sauce made of grilled veggies. Usually this southwestern traditional sauce is made with pork stock. Counter service was quick and friendly. Highly recommend.

Awesome breakfast burritos! We came in a little after 10am and they stop making breakfast at 10am. The guys were cool and made us the breakfast burritos anyway! Stop by and have one.

Excellent food. Friendly staff. We picked up a Veggie burrito on our way to RMNP. The burrito size was huge, my friend and I could share one for lunch.

My wife and I live uphill from Scratch and decided to check it out. The Tuna Melt was scrumptious and we’ll be going back to try out the Reuben and the Veggie Wrap. Thanks, guys, for your freshly made goodies!

This place is awesome. The food is great as are the staff. The only real downside in my book is the place really isn’t setup well for those wishing to eat there instead of taking food to go! We’ll definitely visit again next time I’m in the area.

Best sandwich I have ever eaten — turkey, avocado, bacon. Turkey is fresh brined on site. All breads are homemade! Don’t miss this place!

Very very very awesomely amazing place to eat. Turkey bacon avocado is where it’s at for sure. The carrot cake was very good as well. I love how they make these sandwiches fresh! You will have to wait a bit for your sandwich but it is well worth the wait. The staff was awesome! Highly recommend this place

Recommended to us as «the best sandwich of your life» by the front desk of the Stanley Hotel, this place delivers. Our group got a Reuben, French dip, spicy chicken, and Italian sandwiches, and all of them were amazing. The carrot cake was also divine. Great views too.

Delicious! The fresh bread, the perfect meats, and the top notch ingredients! So thankful for Scratch stepping up the food game in Estes! So far, I’ve been partial to their Black & Blue(amazingly, mouth watering!) and the Reuben(soooo good), but, my husband has gone a dozen times on the way home from the park(and on the way into the park!) and tried many different options and has not been disappointed once. As for cost — totally worth it at their $ 7 – 14 price range for a sandwich. First: remember, you are paying for high quality, healthier, homemade ingredients.(This is not Subway!) Second: Share! Even after a 30 mile bike ride, I have split my sandwich with a friend and been more than satisfied. Third: Try a special of the day! It’s normally less expensive and showcases the creativity of the staff. Seriously, thank you, Scratch, for helping to bring Estes out of the bland food hole they have been stuck in for decades!(Sans a few amazing places like Nepals, Antonio’s Pizza, Moon Kats, etc, that is, :)!)
