Nice selection of books and very cozy; reminds you of time gone by now… Didn’t buy anything, but did enjoy our browse. Mainly went in to see if the«MacDonalds» were really Scottish so my hubby from Scotland could have a chat, but don’t think that was the case. He He. Nice visit, anyway.

Lovely local book shop that apparently has a very old history as the first book shop in Estes Park. Today, we found an excellent selection of interesting items with an amazing variety packed into suck a small area. Off the tourist beaten track and rich in local history, be sure to read the historical markers.

This adorable bookshop is a staple of my childhood nostalgia. My grandparents live in Estes Park and as a lifelong bookworm(encouraged by my former-teacher grandmother), I begged to go here pretty much every time I visited. It’s still awesome. It’s tiny, crowded, quaint, and a little overpriced, but it is exactly everything a bookstore should be. I could spend hours browsing every shelf then picking a title to flip through in one of the little chairs placed in nooks. Book nooks, if you will. The staff is friendly and helpful, but will leave you to browse in silence, which is nice. I still want to go here every time I visit.

Great indepent bookshop. A town of this size is very lucky to have the breadth and depth of books to peruse and purchase. Excellent if you want trail/hiking guides or just good literature. Also good selection of magazines and newspapers.

This is a very small store, the selection is limited, but it’s worth checking out. There are a lot of books about Estes, RMNP and the history of this area.

A wonderful, quirky independent bookshop nestled downtown in a log cabin shop in Estes Park. We stop in every time we’re in town. It is a serene, quiet, book-filled respite from the annoying summer tourism crowd looking for stuffed elk heads, polished beads, or fudge. They have an outstanding selection of local interest books. Some of the gems I’ve picked up here include a field guide of edible and medicinal Rocky Mountain plants, a history of western settlement in Colorado, and a guide to abandoned ghost towns. Definitely worth a stop!

A wonderful independent bookseller, MacDonald’s has been a fixture in Estes Park forever. We found several useful and interesting books this trip to Estes. The Mister likes to purchase hiking guides so he can torture us with new and strenuous RMNP hikes. After returning to Austin, I am still enjoying the bestseller an employee recommended. There is a special newspaper/magazine section and a bestsellers area if you aren’t sure what you want to read. Very helpful and knowledgeable employees who are all about customer service.

I stopped in this bookstore twice in one day while walking through downtown Estes Park today. The store itself is small but, despite this, MacDonald Book Shop still has a good variety of books that will keep you entertained when you’re taking a break from enjoying the great outdoors. You’ll find fiction, non-fiction, mystery, travel, language and many more genres here. Prices are high compared to big-box bookstores but the value is made up for by having a friendly and attentive staff. I prefer to patronize small, locally run businesses, so purchasing a book from MacDonald gives me that added good feeling of «sticking it to the man».(yes, YOU Barnes and Noble.) The store also has a wide variety of magazines for sale.
