Donut Haus

Excellent donuts! Had the chocolate cinnamon roll, glazed, chocolate glazed and coconut. Probably the best coconut cake donut I’ve ever eaten. Beautiful scenery and lovely delicious donuts, what else do you need?

Didn’t think that any donut shop would ever top Mr. D’s in La Crosse, WI, but the Donut Haus is a true gem. This extremely tiny (a counter and room for 8 – 10 people to stand) donut shop is chock full of homemade and tasty donuts. The key is that there’s s huge variety, and the quality is superb (most people have experienced lousy gas station donuts, or bland supermarket donuts). These are the antithesis… really, really fresh, tasty donuts!

Delicious! We’ve brought donuts back to our cabin twice now this trip. Get there early because once they sell out for the day they close.
I don’t have a favorite. I like them all.

If you are in Estes Park, you have to go to the Donut Haus. Opens early for pre-​hike donuts, fritters, burritos! Don’t forget to hike Twin Sisters!

If you want the best donuts, you go by the Donut Haus shortly after they open. They have a large selection of donuts and rolls. If you can’t find something delicious, it means that you are not trying! I love the apple fritters. They are crunchy at the edges with a tender inner crumb. There is a perfect amount of glaze on the fritter.
For fans of brochen, they have tasty cheese brochen. I do miss their cheese brioche. It used to be my go-​to savory treat.

Best donut I’ve ever had! Stopped at this cute spot on a cross country road trip with a friend on a whim and I’m so glad we did. Got the apple sauce donut and ate the whole thing in approximately 60 seconds. Light, perfectly sweet icing, and flavorful. Definitely stop here if you’re on your way in or out of the park!

These donuts literally melted in my mouth. Sooooo good. Even the glazed cake donut melted in our mouths… The traditional glazed donut may be a bit less than the best I’ve ever had, but it was still FANTASTIC! The only thing that’s a little sub par is the parking situation out front. I sort of had to abandon my rental suv in front to go in, and I felt like a schmuck doing it, but no one seemed to mind. I think most people walked here because the place was packed inside. Have your breakfast here tomorrow. :-)

Fantastic local donut spot. I got a mixed packet of their large baked goods to take to work and it was delicious and the prices are fantastic. You must give it a try if you are in Estes Park!

Stopped by while traveling and Wow was it good. I can see, and taste, why they always seems to sell out before closing time. Glad we got them early enough

We stopped here on our way out of town, and we wish we would have found it sooner! Quite possibly the best donuts I’ve ever had. The cake donuts are amazing! Definitely didn’t disappoint.

We went here yesterday for the first time-​I can see why everyone raves about this place! Just walking in & smelling the fresh donuts was amazing! I got a raspberry fritter-​never had heard of such a thing before, but I have to say probably the best donut I’ve ever had in my life! We will definitely be back next time we come to town!

Superb donuts! But have milk or coffee handy because they are externally sweet! I got a raspberry filling donut, it was good, however I wish there was less filling and more dough. Also, be prepared to wait in line and make your choice quickly because the bakery is very small.

Went wit the family and had about a dozen donuts !!!
Every donut was fresh and GREAT !!!
The coffee was just ok, but the DONUTS more then made up for it.

Delicious donuts and fritters. The apple fritter was pretty big, I could only finish half and save the rest for later. The donut was also pretty good, and I am not a huge donut fan. Go early, they close when they run out for the day!

THIS PLACE is incredible. I was here for 3 days spent dayhikling in RMNP, and we started every morning at the Donut Haus. In fact, we talked about Donut Haus pretty much the whole trip. Truly, a gem. The donuts are out of this world delicious, the coffee is good, and the ambiance is as mounty town laid back as it gets. The whole place was staffed by high school kids, eager to chat you up and sell donuts. Couldn’t ask for a better way to start the day. AND, they open at 6am, as opposed to every other place in town. For the early morning hikers out there (and you have to be for some of the long day hikes that require you to sumitt by noon to avoid storms), hit this place up at at the crack of dawn, and start your day right.

Upon arrival my first impressions were negative. The place was small, cramped beyond belief with a sticky floor and young teens running the place. The soda bottle I picked was actually expired, and the less looked at areas inside obviously hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time…
However, I thought «frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn if it’s dirty here. I need life giving nectar that is found in donuts and I don’t want to be inconvenienced by going else where… And I just ate something I dropped on the floor of my cabin, so…»
Order time! Eating time!
My opinions changed. The Cinnamon twists pretty much made my morning, the donut holes were soft yet crispy and ooOoooh Lordy they were so light fluffy that they could have floated away while somehow helping me gain weight. The Bavarian crème should be in my life every day. These donuts are sodding delicious, earthlings… But, be advised: anything with the sweet crème is far too much sweetness to handle unless you are a unicorn, or perhaps someone who enjoys eating handfuls of sugar as a hobby.
Owners, please do a deep cleaning and be attentive to the freshness of your refrigerated drinks. We’ll come back with hopes for improved sanitation standards. Thankfully, the taste brought a 3 star up to a 4 star review on this stop.

Best apple fritters I’ve ever eaten since the 80’s. Good old fashioned flavor and quality! My boyfriend is not an apple fritter aficionado as am I but he polished off his with time to eat part of mine lol
My boyfriend thought the sweet cream had a good cream cheesy flavor to the cream which he really enjoyed.
Friendly people here. Very sociable and sprightly for early morning :)
Tiny parking lot but worth the effort to find a space. You will be happy you stopped here.
You can take your donuts to go or there are three picnic tables on the side of the donut haus if the intoxicating smell renders uou unable to wait :)

Fresh and delicious! The donuts and pastries are flavorful and a treat for the taste buds. They also catered lunch for our raft trip. It was a make your own deli sandwich spread with choices of three meats, three cheeses, fresh rolls and ending with chocolate chip bars. More than enough deliciousness for everyone.

Best donuts I’ve ever had! We woke up early to make sure we had a good selection. We got there at 6:30am and there was still already a line to the door, just proving how good these donuts are.
The front counter seemed to be run by pre-​teens, but they were all helpful, fast, and courteous, filling donut boxes and keeping the line moving.
We got 6 donuts :
— raspberry fritter — incredible! Perfectly crunchy glazed outside with a soft and fluffy inside and a definitely raspberry flavor.
— cheesecake topped (basically a big glazed donut topped with cheesecake) — oh-​so good! The donut was perfect and the cheesecake topping was light and perfectly sweet. The two went together perfectly.
— maple cake donut — I love everything maple and this was no exception. Dense, cakey donut with thick maple frosting.
— cinnamon sprinkle cake donut — the boy behind the counter said this was one of his favorites. I could take or leave the sprinkles, but there was a perfect amount of cinnamon flavor, not overpowering the donut. Really good.
— blueberry cake donut — this was their donut of the day (though admittedly, I was pretty sad I had missed both the applesauce & the devil’s food, which were the daily donuts on other days). It was very good with a strong blueberry flavor and fantastic cake texture.
— plain glazed — I think it was Alton Brown who said that you could tell how good a donut place is by their plain glazed donut. That was definitely the case here! It was obviously fresh and very light, fluffy, and perfectly sweet.
I can’t get out here very often, but next time I hope it’s on an applesauce donut day!

What else is there to say? Get in line early. Amazing donuts. We had a cheesecake donut that was about as big as my head. All very fresh and very inventive flavors.
