One of Escondidos best places for a California burrito. Consistent in size and quality, I’m always impressed. Carne Asada burrito is $ 5, a dollar more to upgrade to the California. It may not be the best place for a sit down meal as its attached to another grocery market and the seating is limited, but the burrito is still fantastic.

One of the best in North County. I thoroughly enjoyed my adobada Cali burrito. Very tasty. Great salsa bar to complement the burrito. I was impressed. I’ll definitely be back here!!! The service was exceptional as the food and the employees were some of the best I’ve come across in my burrito quest.

Stopped by this place in the morning for a quick bite. I got the adobado burrito. Oh man. I couldn’t imagine how everything else tastes. Amazing food. Great prices and one of the best salsa bars I’ve seen. Really enjoyed the food. Clean and great eating area.

Sweet people work there, but the food is horrible. The chips I had to completely throw away since they were so salty they were inedible. But the rest of the meal was gloppy and no fun at all either. There is nothing with fish also, unless you’re lucky on the daily special. Rubio’s would be a gourmet palace in comparison. So is Wahoo’s, El Zarape(Park Blvd.), Oscar’s, Colima’s, etc.

My first time here was just this morning. After a robust cardio workout I was feeling the need for a large burrito. This is your very basic taco shop with a great salsa bar. Be sure and try the avocado salsa. I had the breakfast burrito with beans, cheese, eggs and carne adobada. This was one very dreamy burrito for a whopping $ 4.75. Friggin bargain for some excellent Mexican food! My wife had the chiliquiles which was also excellent. So far I would say this place is the biggest bang for the buck. This place often gets overlooked because Titos is next door but do yourself a favor and walk the extra hundred feet and try this place. Plan enough time to check out the Asian market next door. Definitely some very cool stuff!!!

This place is kind of hidden. When you walk in it’s clean and the employees are very friendly The place is very clean. I ordered two carne asada tacos and they were so delicious! The asada had really great flavor and the salsa bar had a great selection. I highly recommend Tolin’s tacos!

Excellent adobada meat here. Not sure about the beans in the tacos, this is the first place I’ve been that does that. Easy to fix, I simply ask them to hold the beans now. Friendly service and a good salsa selection as well.

When we were living in Temecula there were plenty of good Mexican joints, so when we moved to Escondido(closer to the border) we figured there would be more of the same. How wrong we were,!its impossible to find good Mexican food in Escondido. Tolin’s is basically the only good Mexican joint in Escondido. Love their adobada tacos. Don’t waster your time trying other places if you want good street tacos.

Tolin’s Tacos are absolutely«A-OK!» 3.75 stars Went in this morning and tried a buche, lengua and adobada tacos. I also was interested in a chicharon taco but the señora taking my order said they didn’t have any at the time. Tacos are offered with or without beans. I declined the meat stretching beans. They were served very promptly to my table sans any toppings. The order of the store is to take your tray over to the salsa bar and apply any toppings you may want from there. My wish would be that they would provide little cups so that one can self-serve the salsa tableside. On that note, I did ask the lead guy(owner?) if he had one or two so i could try the salsas first without pairing it to my taco just yet. He was more than delighted to do so and we talked salsas for a minute or two. The best salsa was their habanero salsa followed by a surprisingly tasty mild red. The green salsa was a little bland for my tastes and there was also a peanut/dry chili type of salsa. It is very very smoky in flavor. I did not try the avocado based sauce. Anyway, back to the tacos themselves, the top dog in the three that I tried was the buche taco. It was fantastic. It was seasoned just right and cooked to the degree that it was not rubbery at all. Next up, although not in the order that i ate them, was the lengua. It was spot on and was gobbled up without hesitation. Finally the adobada. It was way overcooked, too dry and charred. I told the owner about it. Struggled to finish it. All were priced at $ 1.59 per. But all in all, I will definitely be back. I still have interest in the chicharon taco and would love clamp my jaw down on another buche taco. Service is very friendly/warm. I really want to bump this place up to 4 stars so another visit is in order. Hopefully they will have all of the items available and a better adobada product for me to try. Look for an update on this place sometime soon!

Kind of tricky to find. It is located in a Mexican and Asian market, but with its own front door. Nice salsa bar. Delicious diced chicken served with refritos rice salad and tortillas. Way above average! And great service!

Found this taco shop because I thought it was another taco shop that I’ve been waiting to open. I’m happy this mistake happened! Taco shop with excellent adobada, good prices, generous portions AND close to my house. On the salsa bar they have onions and cilantro! An avocado sauce! The other sauces(green and red) are a little mild for my taste. Though I just read they have a habanero salsa that I need to try and get next time. So far I’ve had the adobada tacos which were delicious, which had beans on them(more like pinto not refried). Shared the fries(got them with adobada) which we added beans to– which were more like refried than the beans on my taco last time. I have also had the carnitas tacos, which wasn’t my favorite but it also wasn’t bad. I prefer cubed type carnitas and this was stringy. I look forward to trying more menu items!

The food was fresh however the rice was tasteless and both of our Styrofoam cups were sticky. I’d drive to Los primos on west valley parkway before returning to Tolins tacos.

I found it! What did I find you ask?! After 5 years of living in Escondido and being disappointed that a city that is predominately Hispanic has some very disappointing Mexican food, I finally found the BEST Mexican food. Tolin’s Taco is it! It is tricky to find. It is located in the same building as sorpresa barata. Tolin’s has its own entrance. The place is immaculate! The customer service is perfect. Not one rude person works in there. The prices are super reasonable and the food is hot, fresh and delicious! You have to check it out! Alberto’s, Antonio’s, Valentina’s etc. Have nothing on Tolin’s Taco! I’m telling everyone I know to go have some good Mexican Food IN Escondido on Valley Parkway. Who Knew!!!

I usually don’t write a review until I’ve visited a place at least three times. But my first visit to Tolin’s made me a believer! Customer service is fantastic and their food is flavorful and very traditional, hitting every mark I look for in Mexican food. Best if all, this place is within walking distance from work, making it extra special. If you’re looking to weed out all of the Mexican eateries in Escondido to find your favorite, you can’t go wrong with Tolin’s Tacos!

Excellent tacos only had the Asada so far but there great I assume they are all excellent also tried the cheese quesadilla good and reasonable prices the tacos are a little small but they have double layer tortilla and for $ 1.59 each not bad excellent diced cucumbers marinated in chili sauce must try! Good salsa bar! On the left side of the Asian/Hispanic«sorpresa barata» Market kind of next/inside the market
