Honestly, this place is eh. just ok. Literally I think I just expected more. I came to this spot because of the positive reviews on here, but I walked in and placed was so tiny and empty — 1 worker, she was knitting as I walked in, I didn’t even know if there was a chef ! I almost thought she was going to make the rolls herself as she walked away with my order. Lol needless to say. I was disappointed. I also brought my daughter in with me and they didn’t have chicken teriyaki or any beef option. Which I guess understandable,(it’s just a sushi place) but other restaurants do have that option, anyway, It was overpriced for lil 6 piece roll that was not, «all that». The tempura was also just ok. I hate to only give 2 stars but there’s too many good reviews on here, beware.

Great sushi place if you are looking for a quite and friendly place! As you walk in the place is low key with only a few seats however don’t worry, if they are busy you can call ahead or order there for a to go place. Their selection is way large and they even let some customers name their own sushi rolls! As a result they have such a large selection of different and never before heard of sushi rolls. In addition to rolls they offer other Japanese delights including sake and Japanese beers. Wine is also offered. As sushi places go this is an near authentic Japanese sushi joint with that vibe! I defiantly recommend this to any Japanese enthusiast but also to just Asian enthusiast. The staff are super friendly and they offer the standard sushi bar if you are riding solo. They can prepare the food right in front of you. I brought my friends here and they loved. They were not from Escondido but were really happy with the sushi restaurant and what they offered to us! This is the best sushi in Escondido!

If you’re looking for LEGIT sushi, this is the place to be! They have sooooo many different rolls and even have two lists made entirely of what customers have created! No time for kitchen meals, come and enjoy sushi the way it’s supposed to be eaten!

We honestly went here because the reviews are good and the pig plates I wanted to steal! The food was Good but way too expensive for what you get! Small family owned place with five tables. I want to support local but not at that price!

If it wasn’t for the great service and friendly/welcoming atmosphere I would have given less stars. The sushi was fresh but lacked in flavor or distinction of textures. We ordered 4 different rolls from across the menu and only 1 out of 4 was good. Sorry, I know this is personal preference but that’s how it is. Not sure if I will return, price is reasonable IF the sushi was great.

Our fave sushi place! Everyone who has posted negative reviews are full of crap. I have had sushi all over San Diego and this place has great quality fish. Get the coco loco you won’t be sorry! As far as service, the restaurant is run by a sweet Japanese couple who do everything themselves. They aren’t pushy and won’t always approach your table to take your order. You need to flag them down and tell them when you’re ready. It is most likely a cultural thing. They are so sweet, they even wrapped a box of chocolates and gave it to us the day after Christmas. This place is authentic and quiet. If you want a fast paced Americanized sushi experience go to Love Boat.

This place is fairly small and tucked away in the shopping center. I’ve been wanting to stop by for a while not but just haven’t been able to. I finally did and I will say that it did not disappoint. We had the Brian, Minnesota Snow and Spider roll. All of them were insanely good. My favorite would probably be the Brian though. The prices were decent and since it’s small the service wasn’t too bad either. They only had one server and one chef in the front to make the sushi. Overall, it was a great experience. I’ll definitely be coming back here to try other rolls.

Small Mom and Pop sushi spot. My favorite place to come when I am craving some sushi and a beer but don’t want to leave Escondido. I always feel so welcomed as if I was a part of the family! Great sushi and Great service.

Horrible … The worst sushi I have ever had. I ordered California rolls, rainbow rolls and spicy tuna rolls to carry out. The rainbow Rolls smelled fishy. The cucumber in the California rolls was bad. We were afraid to eat it all. We didn’t call to complain. They do not speak much English. Needles to say we will not return.

By far the best Sushi ever. Try the Minnesota Snow or the David & Michelle. The seaweed salad is fantastic and the poppers are fabulous. You will not regret trying this restaurant. We always make it a point to come here when we visit San Diego!

Before heading out to work my fiancé’ had known of a great place to get sushi which was close to home. This is my first time here at Sushi Harbor which is a very small restaurant with about 8 tables and a sushi bar. It is a whole in a whole located in a plaza next to grocery Vons. Upon walking in around 730pm on a Friday night we were the first ones there. We were greeted by the Sushi Chef and his helper. The waitress mentioned to take any seat we seemed fit. The ambiance of this place is very dim during dinner but has a nice vibe of authentic Japanese décor. The place is family owned. After ordering drinks we were quite overwhelmed by the menu. By far this is the first sushi place I’ve been to where 90% of the menu is sushi rolls/sashimi. And this is not just your typical rainbow rolls, california rolls; There are so many different variations of sushi rolls with different kinds of fish. We started out with –miso soup(good soup but very salty) –tempura shrimp & veggies Sushi –delux ono roll(white fish on top. soft shell crab inside) –spicy ball roll(seared albacore on top. crab inside) –jud(baked) roll(salmon) Sushi was very authentic, the fish was very fresh. By far one of the best sushi’s made to order I’ve ever had. You can sure taste the quality and effort by a true Master Sushi Chef. Service: it was decent. a few hiccups. but friendly moderate service. Overall: if you do not want to travel far to a sushi restaurant and you’re close by, this is the place to come to. HIGH quality sushi. Pricey but worth the try. And they have cable TV for your viewing pleasure.

Cozy little restaurant. Very extensive menu. Looks as though customers created their own sushi rolls. But there’s just sooooo many rolls to look through ONTOP of their own selection. Sometimes less is better. We ordered the Ronin, Brown dragon, and Tracy roll. Good sized rolls. Those 3 rolls filled up 2 people, but if we were really hungry maybe 4 rolls would be a good amount. The fish were sliced in nice thick pieces too. Generous amount. And I don’t want to forget the cute little piggy sushi plates and the leaf shaped soy sauce dish. Adorable! The lady and sushi chef seemed like very sweet people. Though it was a little pricey, I would come back.

Meh. Saw the good ratings on Unilocal so I was thinking, ok why not check out a new sushi place other than the one I always go to? Although I know it’s hard to find a casual sushi roll place that can beat the one I’m used to… It might or might not be the best in Escondido, but San Marcos is just right next door! Drive a little bit more for better food for food’s sake! We walked in. The place was run-down. Old décor, chipped walls, no AC. On a hot summer day/night, it might not be a decent place to eat sushi with flies around you since they had to pop open the door. Service was friendly but not so attentive. We had the spicy spider, rainy, harbor roll deep that was made of deep fried assorted fish and tiger eyes with ika, eel and spicy tuna. The rolls were not bad, average, can’t say I enjoyed it, but it’s edible sushi that I could swallow. With that said, the prices were NOT cheap. They were average or slight above average. We paid $ 11 for 5 to 6 pieces of sushi rolls. I can’t say it’s a good deal given that the location and décor was subpar. There’s really no reason for me to come back. I could’ve gone west to San Marcos or south to Poway for better quality sushi. Hope there will be some improvements in the future!

4.5 stars. Pleasantly surprised every step of the way. Keep it up and you might get that 5th one :) As a small sushi spot inside a strip mall, I can honestly say I didn’t have high expectations. Brought in for lunch with some co-workers, I was a little caught off-guard by how authentic everything was. It seemed just like the places I’ve been to in LA’s little Tokyo. The food was all very good(Miso soup, rice, sushi, spring rolls). I especially liked the ginger? dressing on the salad and the chicken was obviously grilled(cooked well with slight hints of a crispy outside). The hot tea I thought was a little weird, maybe I’ll try the green tea next time. Anyways, they have a HUGE sushi menu(maybe too big?), and the stuff they brought to the other peeps at our table looked really good… I can’t wait to go back and try some. It was an empty day, but the service was perfect. I will definitely try the mochi ice cream next time. hopefully it’s better than the Costco kind ;)
