Submarina Soup Sandwiches & More

I really enjoy this location. I have been eating at Submarina for years. I even worked at one for many years but that’s another story for another time.
I live in Escondido, and this shop is a block from my house. They recently moved to this new location from their original spot. Sure, there was some worry the location might not be as successful, but it seems to be holding its own.
All the ladies who work there are amazingly friendly. I really should know all their names, but I don’t. Granted, they don’t know my name, but they remember me every time I come in. «Hi there! How are you?» They strike up conversation, make you feel important. The guys there… well, they leave a little to be desired in the way of customer service. A bit robotic. But I get it, I’ve BEEN there, I know how it feels. Still 5 stars.
Food is always fresh. The bread always soft and delicious. They don’t skimp on anything.
Overall, just a great, simple, friendly sub shop that offers delicious food for a reasonable price.

Best subs in town hands down come here once or twice a week with my wife they even know our order by heart

My favorite sandwich shop hands down. Their ingredients and bread are ALWAYS fresh, and their customer service never disappoints. The ladies that work here are always so nice. I was sad when they moved locations, but this location seems to be a better fit for them with more exposure. Their prices are reasonable and the dining area is always clean.

Subs and wraps are delicious! Customer service is great for the most part! Leave your personal issues at the door while at work! Your customers can tell when you’re in a bad mood but overall great place to go to!

This Submarina is located in the east side of Escondido in the Albertson’s shopping center. Submarina is pretty much your typical setup with the station and the prices are average. I love ordering their squaw bread as it is tasty and fresh! Last night I got a toasted BLT on squaw bread with alfalfa sprouts, cucumbers, spinach, and tomato. I decided not to do their lettuce because it didn’t look the freshest. It was pretty good and they also have the loyalty program with the stamp card where you can buy 10, get your 11^th regular sub for free.~

This namesake brings back a lot of memories dating to the 80s and 90s when they were located down the street at Trafalgar Square. I used to work next door dispensing prescription eyeglasses and ate there probably twice a week.
Not having been to a Submarina in quite some time, I was delighted to see this location which happens to be right next to my favorite Home Depot. Impetuously, I decided to go in with my daughter and have a look.
The menu is pretty much the same as it was and the toppings are the general offerings. Bread choices were three this day; white, wheat and squaw. One of us had an ATC and the other a vegi sandwich with everything. All memories came flooding back after the first bite and I was not disappointed. The dressing, the bread all super yummy. A 6″ will probably do for most people but a 9er or even a 12″ can be purchased.
Service was prompt and friendly. We talked with the owner who has been around Submarina for few decades herself. When not making sandwiches, staff is busy wiping down tables and soda fountains.
There can be quite the line during prime lunch hours, but come and hour earlier or later and the food is expedited in a prompt fashion.
Overall, very pleased and will return routinely.

Lady got mad cause we asked to cut it in half before she made the sandwich even tho you have to cut the sandwich at the end she was sassy

Went in with a coupon I got through a book I purchased for a school fundraiser. Apparently, it only was good for the San Marcos location even though I bought it in Tierra Santa! The manager made it work and crafted some wonderful sandwiches. Very happy. New location is very clean and nice, will definitely return.

I’m usually a regular at submarinas and am always greeted with friendly customer service. That was some of the worst customer service I’ve ever had. The food is great but the service is not.
