Place isn’t bad it’s just that they were cleaning in the middle of lunch so all the smells from the cleaning solution they used was strong and they took a while to serve my plate. Food was ok, a bit pricey but overall a decent place

I love Jilbertos and I love mexican food. Their carne asada fries are THEBOMBDOTCOM. Seriously the best in the area. The carne asada fries are crispy and come with tons of carne asada, guac, sour cream, and cheese. I love that their guac doesn’t have chunks of tomato or onion in it and that it’s smooth and creamy. The cheese is actually melted on top and not cold. I also love their rolled tacos. They don’t put any lettuce or pico on it, just how I like it. Just give me my rolled tacos with guac and cheese please. And I LOVE that they top it off with cotija cheese too! The two hot sauces they have(red & green) are hot and delicious. Their horchata is amazingggg. Only thing is that their drive thru can be a little slow at times but that’s just because they are making your food fresh to order. The burritos are also dankalicious and huge. Definitely would recommend this little mexican food spot to all in North County.

I’m a sucker for holes in the wall. Ok, not like that. Get your mind out of the gutter. However, perhaps the gutter is an apt metaphor for Jilberto’s. Think about it: gutters are where all of the random, excess of elements collect into a communal pool of worthlessness. Take the fish taco at Jilberto’s for instance: Double wrapped corn tortillas to bolster about a cup of thickly shredded cabbage, a couple tablespoons of translucent cebollitas y wilting cilantro, a dab of faintly reminiscent tartar-like sauce, and a soggy, oily filet of white fish that comprises roughly 1⁄8th the weight of the $ 2.99 taco. It’s as if they collected all of the extra(verging on expired) cabbage, onions, and cilantro and stuffed it into a tortilla to bulk up an otherwise meager fish taco. The drive-thru is rife with error. Pricing errors abound, specials aren’t advertised until the pick-up window, where a $ 1.00 debit/credit fee callously greets you(no minimum order waives the fee). Errors are constantly made due to inadequate microphones/headsets, and items are haphazardly thrown together in a paper bag, regardless of the contents(a heavy burrito mashes the foil down into the cheese/guacamole atop your rolled tacos, peeling the good stuff away from its intended target). The interior is shared with an AM/PM. Perhaps I buried the lede, but the taco shop is half AM/PM. It’s little wonder the food lacks the care, attention to detail, and quality to which one can easily grow accustomed in Escondido/San Marcos. There are leagues-better taco shops in our Tacosphere. I suggest you seek them out, unless you’re picking up a Mountain Dew while filling up and suddenly crave mediocrity.

This place is terrible if you go through the drive thru. I’ve been going here for years but over the past few months the young lady that takes the orders on the drive thru messes up my order every single time, I’m getting tired of constantly having them redo my order, it’s ridiculous. I understand every now and then and I’m usually really nice about it but it’s every single time now.

When you get home and you’re really excited to dig into your burrito only to realize that they got your order wrong. :| This place is expensive and service was super slow. Ordered a bean, egg, cheese, and potato burrito. Asked them to repeat the order back when we pulled up to the pick-up window to ensure the order was correct. It took forever to get our food, so we assumed they got our order wrong the first time and had to re-make it. After all of that, they STILL got the order wrong. What I got was an egg, cheese, potato burrito, no beans. So infuriating after paying $ 18 for two breakfast burritos and horchata and waiting for so long that they can’t get a simple order correct. Food was good anyway, but get the order right! Be back never!

Super yummy, but very expensive for a drive thru taco shop… I ordered a California burrito with guac & sour cream & it came out to be over $ 10. Good flavor but kinda greasy

Still the best quality, still the best flavor. My go-to is a pollo asada California with added guac nowadays, but you can’t go wrong here. It’s comfort food at its finest. Best hot green sauce around. Service is excellent. The same guys have been working here for years.

I love the rolled tacos with guacamole. It is always fresh and delicious. Good red and green sauce also. I love a good gas station taco shop!

Bought some Carne Asada fries, which where very good. The green and red salsa where tasty and spicy. The drive thru was easy to access and it was fast from placing order to receiving order. The only negative is, I asked for spicy carrots and the bag had 2 medium carrots and 1 small jalapeño. All in all its a decent Mexican restaurant.

I have to give it a one star otherwise I’d give it ZERO stars the food here is disgusting we ordered an order of rolled tacos tWO carne asada tacos and carne asada fries first the hot sauces completely watered down but they’re somewhat good tasting they got the right concept but a FAIL, the rolled tacos they tasted as if it were at least 5 days old the inside of the tacos tasted almost like they were going bad the meat was really gross, the carne asada tacos were also nasty taste to it kind of like it’s going bad as well no flavor. The carne asada meat was DRY didn’t taste good at all either. JUST horrible! we could not finish the food we literally threw it away if you going to come here don’t waste your money. ITSABSOLUTELYPOSSIBLY A HEALTHISSUE

My top favorite Mexican place in north county! It’s a weird location but the food is amazing. It’s the only place I go to now and at least once a week lol. :) I know the location is sketch but trust me it’s worth it. :)

If you know of the original spot on east valley parkway then you know Jilberto’s is amongst the best taco shops. However, with that being said, this 2nd location is a hit or miss. It is located inside the AM/PM gas station right off of the 78 freeway. The handful of times I’ve been here I usually go through the drive-thru. Some nights they are backed up and take awhile to get your order and other nights no wait. Or you can go inside and order. They do have tables outside for you to eat. Food: as for the quality, for some reason this location is inconsistent. Meat at times in a carne asada burrito could be dry. As for their carne asada fries, sometimes more sour cream than guacamole. And their hot sauce sometimes taste watered down. Service: sometimes could be fast or sometimes could be slow. if it’s slow you could be waiting in your car for awhile during a busy night. the time i went inside to order, they had only 2 workers there and waitied 15mins just for a couple items. Overall: the reason I come to this location is because it is closer to where I live. The original location of Jilberto’s can be far to get to and for those who are not in the area. i always compare this to their original location on east valley parkway and sometimes i say i should of driven the extra miles to get better quality food. Pros: –drive-thru –open late Cons: –food quality lacks –slow service

Gas and tacos! They have specials that are worth trying but they only accept cash. My favorite is the 12 rolled tacos for cheap only valid on Thursday and Friday. They have outside seating but no shade or umbrellas

Pro: It has a drive-thru! Con: None that I have found in the food or service from a little drive thru window. I’ve gone to this location once. The carne asada was pretty darn good. It wasn’t knock you off your feet wowza carne, but it was what I expected from a taco shop in SoCal. The best thing about this location is the drive-thru. Without a drive-thru, I wouldn’t have gone. Nor would I give this 4 stars. It would just be a 3 star review. The simple convenience of not getting my butt out of the car upgraded this location by 1 star.

Drive through located at the ampm. Always fast and friendly. We LOVE the carne asda fries, they don’t skimp out on any if the toppings, big enough to share and very tasty. Come here on a regular basis. Little more $ then others, but quality is great. Try a cheese quesadilla with sour cream added, simple but tastes fantastic

Carne Asada is bomb here. Thus, their Cali burrito is also amazing. I love the fries they use as well. They also got the best rolled tacos, nachos(especially carne Asada nachos!), and their horchata is perfect. Even their quesadillas rock! If you want to get your greasy Mexican food on, this is the place.

Ew! Won’t be going here ever again. Hubby and I stopped here on the way home from a friend’s get together… It’s in a gas station.(Strike 1.) I went into the bathroom while we waited… Grossest bathroom ever! I decided to wait until we got home. So dirty, pee on the seat, grime everywhere… No thanks! My hubs got a breakfast burrito which he said was fine but I ordered hard shell chicken tacos with rice and beans. The shells were either a couple days old or not made in the taco shop… They were stale and tasted like grocery store taco shells. The chicken was so dry and tasted like canned chicken. It was in some sort of red sauce with peppers… Not appetizing at all. The rice and beans were really bland. I’m not usually the pickiest eater, if I’m hungry enough, I’ll usually finish my meal even if it’s not the most delicious meal I’ve ever had. I seriously couldn’t finish this, I had to throw it away. The only reason this isn’t a one star review is because the guy at the register was really pleasant… at the very least, they have great customer service. I wouldn’t come back though.

I’ve been a long time Jilberto’s goer. It is one of my favorite places to eat in north county. I am vegetarian so I get the bean & cheese or the veggie burrito with no rice. They don’t use lard, thank the gods. I’ve asked and they advertise vegetable oil on their menu. The non-perfect rating applies to occasionally the guacamole doesn’t taste very fresh. And today my burrito had some black crunchy grill remnants on my tortilla. But I crave this place and have come here for years and will continue to enjoy delicious giant low cost Mexican food whenever visiting north county.
