Came here for a wedding. While the place is … pretty. It seemed a bit boring. i’ve gone to way nicer resorts such as Tenkiller in Oklahoma… The lake seemed small and nothing I would want to travel to… Wasn’t really impressed. Super underwhelmed. The drive there was beautiful.

The resort was recently bought by a «big box» corporate chain of campgrounds and it shows in the quality of the resort. Overall, the place is pretty fun and I love spending our annual weekend there, but the ugly branding and horrible service at the Marina Café have brought down my review to 2 stars. We stay in the Pine Cabins every year. Although the price has gone up almost every year, they are a fun way to camp with our entire family since some like rustic camping and some enjoy glamping(glamorous camping). The Pine Cabins are almost all within a lake view and come with a decent sized kitchen as well as a picnic table and fire pit. DONOTEATATTHEMARINACAFE. We had some of the worst service there and ended up having a 2+ hour meal for sandwiches the Friday night we were there. The place was incredibly understaffed and we barely saw our waitress. We had food delivered to our table that wasn’t ours and the hostess had no idea what was going on: pretty much, the entire place was a zoo with little to no management. They don’t have any alcohol for sale, but they allow you to order 1 drink(beer or wine) and only 1. This is bizarre and confusing to me. The various amenities at the resort are pretty useful. The store in the registration building has some camping essentials and the water sport rentals are a great way to spend a fun afternoon. Campground security did make a fuss about some music we were playing that was inaudible 50 feet away, but I guess they were bored and needed some entertainment. Go to enjoy the campground but bring your own supplies/food!

I went here earlier this month on my fiancé’s annual family vacation. This was the first time I’d ever been to the resort and I was pleasantly surprised. Getting there was sort of difficult. We were pretty unfamiliar with the area, and the directions the resort provided were not so great(the road signs were too small/nonexistent). One of our friends got off one exit on the Turnpike before what was suggested and found the resort much more easily. I would suggest getting out the map and planning out a better route than what Google tells you. Once we were at the resort we had a spectacular time. We stayed in the Lakeside Villas. The rooms were nicely sized, and the kitchen was ok. Warning: There isn’t an oven — just a stove top. So don’t plan on baking anything unless you pack your own little oven! Another thing about the kitchen is that it didn’t have too many cooking tools so I would bring a liquid measuring cup, mixing bowls, chef’s knife, and extra cutting boards. All in all the villa was nice and most importantly it was CLEAN! The lake was really fun. There were a good amount of people out, but we rarely felt inhibited by them. The scenery is beautiful, and you should definitely check out the cliffs. We had a lot of fun jumping off of them! I had a really fun time at Lake Raystown Resort. My fiancé’s mom and sister ate at the Marina Café and said it was pretty bad. I didn’t expect much, so I didn’t bother eating there. We stopped into the Bistro Express and Arcade and left because it really looked unappetizing. The arcade games were also pretty lacking. But that’s not why we were there, so it didn’t make much of a difference anyway!

Booked a king room at the lodge for 2 nights during the week. The room was modern. Did not have much of a view because of the trees. Oh well. The resort clearly states list on its’s web site that it has free Internet. After checking in we tried to log on. Could not get internet so we called the front desk and were told that the IT guy had left for the day but they would make him aware that there was a problem. The following day… still no internet. The problem was never fixed. We did eat at the café twice. Very slow service and the food was not very good. Would not recommend eating there. When I was checking out I made the front desk aware that we could not get internet in the lodge area. I was told that they are working on the problem and the resort has been busy and they have have not gotten around to fixing the issue. I was also told a lot of the guest really concentrate on the nature. OK? Some people still have to work while they are enjoying the nature. PLEASE be aware that you will not be able to get internet! Also tried using the telephone in the lobby and was not able to call out. I had an employee try and she couldn’t dial out either.
