Too Much Design, Not on Hair
I was one of those last minute people trying to cut my hair the day before valentines day and presidents day weekend. I called everywhere in the 2 mile radius of my home and everywhere was booked. I called Matin’s and she said it was booked. 20 minutes later I get a call back and she said she could take me in if I got there in 10 mins. I walked over as quick as I can.
She was the only one working and ringing up a customer. She told me to have a seat and went to arrange flowers. After designing a beautiful flower arrangement, she walked over to assist me. I told her how I wanted my hair and she insisted in doing it another way. I said what I wanted again and she tried to make a compromise. I am 26 and have been doing my hair the same way for the past 2 years, I think I know how I want my hair done. I just gave up and let her do my hair. At the end it looked «OK» i asked her to shave my sideburns and make them pointy. She made them pointy but it wasn’t shaved down to the same length as the rest of my sides. I didn’t even notice it until it was too late.
Another customer came in and she seemed to be rushing me. I could feel her rushing and just couldn’t wait to leave. Then she doesn’t accept card. So i had to walk down two blocks to the nearest bank to take out cash. Can you at least get Square?
Overall I will never go back here. Not worth $ 30 for a trim when they don’t even want to trim it they way you tell them too. She’s too busy trying to arrange flowers for funerals and cutting hair at the same time. Next time I will make an appointment elsewhere ahead of time.

I’ve been getting my hair cut by Matin for over 20 years. She knows my head like the back of her hand and every haircut is exactly what I want and expect. I’ve never had a problem making an appointment and she’s never cancelled. .I’ll see her for another 20 years if I still have hair.

This is not the place to go if you’re looking for modern short hairstyles for women. Matin seems like a very nice person, our appts were on time and it’s not the worst haircut I’ve ever had, which is one of the reasons I gave it 2 stars. I wear my hair in a messy fauxhawk, which I described before sitting down, and Matin’s haircut took out the layering, so that it’s a flat roundish shape on the top. This is also the first haircut where I’ve never had my hair wetted down for any part of the cut. Even though I said she didn’t have to shampoo, because I had just done so before I got there, other places I’ve been too, still wet my hair down for part of the cut.
My partner specifically stated she did not want her bangs cut, and yet her bangs were cut. She also has short hair and the outcome was flat/​roundish as well. It was very pricey for a haircut that didn’t include shampoo/​wash and consisted mostly of using clippers $ 45 each, ouch.

I’ve started going to Matin’s years ago after a friend in the area recommended her to me. From the first time I walked in and every time after, she’s done a spectacular job. I have difficult/​somewhat unusual hair and I’ve always had to give a lot of direction to my stylists. She is the first stylist I’ve been to who knew exactly what to do without me having to explain it. She’s a real pro.
Not to mention, she is always on time when I make an appointment, her prices are better than others in the area and she clearly knows her stuff!

Have never made an appointment here but have never had to wait more than 10 minutes, if at all. My hair is cut really carefully and meticulously and for a reasonable price ($ 25 for a cut). Great location; there is lots to do around the area, so you can integrate your cut with the rest of your day.

I love Matin and have been getting my hair cut by her for years. I’m losing my hair and it’s hard for me to get a hair cut that I like, but I always walk out of there feeling handsome. She’s flexible and seems to really care about her work. She keeps a nice space in a good location, and there’s a really good Vietnamese café next door. Such a sweet person too, and I always have great conversations with her.
