Red Dragon is not at all up to par with your average hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. The food is terrible, the chef once dropped a pebble in my orange chicken meal and thankfully I did not eat it, I talked to the manager and he was dumbfounded regarding it. I have yet to be back. I don’t know if it’s the chef or the establishment but currently the food is terrible and they have NO concern when preparing it as I have found it to be unsanitary and uneatable. I found myself unsatisfied and a bit disgusted in some of their food they prepared for me. Prepare your stomach.

Just had a takeout. Noodles overlooked, ginger not sliced, chicken teriyaki was battered, food quality is fine but tasteless. Would not order from here again. Delivery took 2 hours

My family and I have been going here for years! We love this place! The owners are amazing. But don’t go close to closing time, they will rush your food and to get you out of there!

Great prices. Big portions. Fast. Fresh. Bo bo plater and the Dinner for Two are great deals and delicious. I don’t understand why the reviews aren’t higher. For standard Chinese, they nail it.

DONOTORDER I placed an order and here is how it went. They showed a $ 3 delivery charged on their online ordering service and charged me $ 4 for delivery. That is illegal, so I called them to tell them that is ILLELGAL. Their response was it should have been $ 5. I told them this was an illegal activity, but they don’t have to refund me the dollar because why bother. Then it took over an hour to arrive and they sent me the a chicken order instead of beef when I have an online order that states«beef». On top of that, the delivery driver was beyond rude and I ordered the dish they messed up «hot» and it was south of mild. To be fair they said they would cancel the charge and were polite. Considering how the interaction has been, though, I am not hopeful that will happen and will cancel payment through my bank. I urge you to NOTORDER from this restaurant because it is not only perpetrating a scam but rude and unappetizing. Save yourself the aggravation. YUCK. Wish there was a «zero» star option.

Best Chinese food in all of Elmhurst. We have been coming to Red Dragon for 34 years and have never been disappointed. All the food here is yummy. The inside is very nice as well as the waitstaff. The service is fast! I highly recommend this restaurant if you are craving some good Chinese food. Oh and they have a weekend buffet too!

Stopped in again for the Buffett. Pretty consistent from the previous trip. Good. Nothing great. The customer service is excellent and it’s a nice clean environment. I’ll probably eat there again if I’m wanting a Chinese Buffett.

I tried this place on a whim and was delightfully surprised. The service is attentive and for Americanized Chinese food, it’s great. So far, this place makes my favorite shrimp w/lobster sauce. It’s a dark sauce and flavorful. They also make meatless fried wontons! Finally! Nobody else seems to know what I’m talking about in other Chinese restaurants. Shame I live downtown and can’t get this delivered. Good lunch specials.

I have lived in Elmhurst my entire life, DONOTEATHERE. This place used to be pretty good 10 years ago but now it is disgusting. Red Dragon uses very low grade meat, their chicken is barely edible. You can probably eat about 30% of your order because the food is soggy, gross and full of fat /random animal parts. I don’t understand how they are still open. I now work in downtown Elmhurst and keep giving it a chance but it’s been the same disgusting food for the past 2 years. The office I work at doesn’t order from here anymore because so many people get sick.

I can’t believe I’ve lived in Elmhurst for 4 years and I just discovered this place. The atmosphere is like any other Chinese restaurant. The service was very good and food amazing. My favorite is the crab rangoons. The sweet & sour sauce they serve with them is made in house. It’s the best I’ve tasted. Be sure to request the homemade sauce if you order takeout or you will just get the packets. They do charge $.50 for the sauce for to go orders. Will definitely come back.

Can’t explain my love in words about Red Dragon! Hands down the best Pot Stickers around town and some of the best Emperors Chicken I have ever had.

I’m not a fan of buffets for many reasons, but mainly because I always overeat. In terms of buffets, there aren’t many choices in E-Town. Here’s one for ya’. The Red Dragon buffet is Friday and Saturday at noon. It’s not a bad deal for $ 7.95 — includes tea. Don’t forget to ask for the Sriracha hot sauce. As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. I plan on eating at, and reviewing, every one. Follow me on Unilocal

This place has changed hands, and I am sorry to say my once reliably great Chinese restaurant in Elmhurst is now gone. Have not been back after a couple of very unremarkable dinners.

My boyfriend and I went here for lunch on a Friday. There was a lunch buffet. As a pescatarian I can usually find enough to eat on a buffet. The buffet also came with soup. I ordered the egg drop soup. YUK. The soup had a red tint to it. There was so much corn starch added, it was like eating gel. However it tasted fine. The buffet was pretty large, but there were no vegetarian items, and only one with shrimp. There were some wonton under a lamp which looked like crab Rangoon, however there were just plain fried wonton — overcooked and hard as rock. I was extremely disappointed the egg Foo young had chicken. That is one item I can usually count on to be vegetarian. My boyfriend had a variety of items. He doesn’t eat meat, but he does eat poultry. Overall, it was just o.k. The service was great. We may go back to order from the menu, but that is all.

We have ordered from Red Dragon for over 20 years. They now have new owners and I’m sad to say we will probably not go back or carry out anymore. The egg rolls we had last night were horrible. Tasteless and I have no idea what they were filed with. Stingy with the condiments no hot mustard. Our order could have fed 3 yet only two fortune cookies. The sesame chicken was pretty good and there was plenty of bbq pork in the fried rice. But the entire meal was overshadowed by the awful egg rolls and cheapened experience.

This is or shall I say was my favorite Chinese restaurant. Today when I ordered delivery it came and tasted nothing like it has ever tasted before. Not only has the food changed but they couldn’t even bring sweet & sour, soy sauce or fortune cookies for that matter. As long as their zombies are still up to par it may be worth going to dine in. If not, it is a sad day as another Elmhurst institution fades into the past.

It seems everyone in Elmhurst has a favorite Chinese food place. Each one is distinct, and its fans are very loyal. Mine happens to be Red Dragon, and tho I do not live in the city of Elms, I spend more than enough time here to be confused for a resident. There are two things you need to go to Red Dragon for; their weekday lunch specials and their Saturday brunch buffet. The lunch specials are very generous and filling, and cover the gamut from chicken teriyaki to a nice lo-mein dish. There’s a flavor for every taste and the price is definitely affordable. The Saturday brunch buffet, however, is the real steal. For less than $ 8 you get a great spread of about 10 different entrée options, egg rolls, wontons, soup and tea. This is no frozen reheated, refried buffet like you find all over Chicagoland and probably the rest of the country. This is the real stuff they actually serve off their menu, freshly prepared and brought out hot. You don’t see this anywhere else, and it’s worth trying even once. My favorite Egg Drop soup in the world occurs in this restaurant as well. It’s thick with onions and carrots in a rich broth. It’s savory and wonderful. The staff is always friendly. Always efficient. And always on top of filling your empty glass or cup. As long as I participate in all things Elmhurst, I will patronize Red Dragon and suggest you do the same. BTW: You save 10% if you order online. Do it!
